My husband transferred to Aspen Grange five weeks ago.
There is a marked difference in his behaviour since he has been here. He has some challenging behaviours which have improved greatly, thanks to the care and patience that has been shown by every member of staff. They are always pleasant and polite
to everyone, residents and family alike.
The home is always clean and tidy and therefore a very pleasant place to visit.

The home appears clean although quite an unpleasant smell (of urine?)odour in the corridor. The staff always seem friendly and helpful. I would like to see a little more attention given to occupying residents on a daily basis occasional outings/events are only infrequent, mental stimulation is needed.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and immediately contact me when there are any problems concerning my father. I feel my dad is very safe and well cared for. The activities laid on are very good and I attend as often as possible. The music is always very fun and the residents always join
in as do I. Only concern is items going missing but I understand how hard it is to control.

My husband has been a resident at Aspen Grange for five months and the care he has received since day one has been outstanding. It is run by the most friendly and professional management and nursing team supported by equally excellent carers and other staff members.
I cannot praise this care home enough
and thank all the staff for the care they give my husband and the ongoing support they also give to me and my daughters at this difficult time.
I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Aspen Grange is always clean, welcoming and caring. Dad is always well looked after and he settled really well into his home. The staff are always looking out for Dad, bringing him drinks and cake which he loves. I would recommend Aspen Grange to anyone looking for care for their family.

My father has now been at Aspen Grange for the past 18th months. We, like many families, felt very guilty at Dad having to go into a care home, but we needn't have worried. The home is clean and tidy. The staff are wonderful, they care for Dad in a very empathetic way, allowing him the freedom he needs
to roam, not restricting him to a chair. There is a genuine feeling of kindness from the staff, who always update us on his ups and downs when we visit. His personal care is always good, and the monitoring of his food intake etc., is excellent. We as a family are extremely happy with this home and are very grateful to ALL the staff for the care they give our father.

The team at Aspen Grange have been life-changing for my Dad as a resident and also my Mum, who was Dad’s full time career for a number of years until his needs became too great.


During the initial assessment of Dad’s needs as an individual with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinsons, it became clear that

the Aspen Grange team “got it” - they understood Dad’s condition and what he, and my Mum, were going through.


From our arrival with Dad on day one, the staff have been empathetic, endlessly patient, and very importantly constantly considerate of Dad’s dignity, individual needs and preferences.


We are now able to see Dad on a daily basis being given the personalised and sympathetic care that he needs - we are welcome to visit any time, my children also enjoy the visits to see Grandad and recognise most of the nurses and carers too.


Whilst Dad is still having to live through such a cruel illness, it has been
such a comfort to my family and I to know that he is in caring, expert hands.

This is a very special nursing home, mainly for people with dementia. The staff treat all with residents with respect, patience, care and love. My lovely mum was so happy, she looked 10 years younger after only three days. I only wish she had been able to live there a year earlier.

I visited my friend of 40+ years today. I have watched her deteriorate over the last few years when she was living alone. The improvement in her since living in Aspen Grange is remarkable. She was dressed lovely, she looked healthy and even though her memory is failing, she conversed really well.

My mother, who has dementia, has been a resident at Aspen Grange for 3 months and I can fault nothing in relation to the care that she has and is receiving.


The staff are attentive and caring, not only to the residents, but also to their family.


The facilities in relation to rooms/food etc are

The heat in the upstairs lounge in the summer is unacceptable. How the staff cope I don't know. Heat blocking film for the large window has still not been installed. Only two small windows open, no air conditioning to expensive to repair. Something must be done before next summer.

Now mum (and myself) have settled to the situation all seems to be extremely good.
Mum is always clean and tidy, medication always given. The meals continue to be excellent and a very good choice. If mum can be persuaded there are communal activities most days which the staff organise. The nature of
illness I now accept means the loss of items, so now I take no small items in. The staff have allowed me to adjust for which I am very grateful.

Friendly, caring and kind. Have made us feel very welcome when we visit our dad.
The shock of downward health has been made easier by the care and compassion both to our dad and his family.
The calm atmosphere is very good, the staff are lovely and the tea dances and visits out are always lovely
and my dad seems to enjoy them. We have seen photos and he is always smiling which is such a joy for us to see.
We are so pleased that Dad is being looked after so well - it makes a great different story to a very sad situation.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

I joined Aspen Grange as Manager at the end of January 2020. Having worked in the care sector for over 20 years, I have extensive experience as the registered manager of three previous care homes. These include residential and nursing settings, including supporting people living with dementia.


I have personal experience of looking after a family member with dementia, so I understand the impacts of the condition from both sides. My journey in care began as a care assistant 21 years ago, working my way to Home Manager, having achieved my Registered Manager award.


I am a firm believer in person-centred care to achieve a good quality of life for our residents. With the right care and environment, you can truly make a positive change in residents’ lives. I’m looking forward to working with my team and being part of the Aspen Grange Family.
