Bassett House is a new luxury Care Home providing accommodation for frail older people together with a specialist unit to care for older people with dementia type illnesses. The home is able to care for sixty three clients in comfortable surroundings. Bassett House is situated on the outskirts of Wootton Bassett, set in landscapes grounds.
This newly built home offers all the advantages of a purpose built building with modern facilities. The bedrooms are attractively decorated and finished. All have en-suite shower rooms and in addition there are supported bathrooms. Carers encourage residents to bring in their personal belongings, for example, pictures and ornaments, to personalise their rooms. The home has three separate lounges and dining rooms. It also has a cinema room, where residents can enjoy their favourite films. From the upper floors of the home one can enjoy the views over the surrounding Wiltshire countryside.
Within Bassett House, the philosophy and culture is based on “relationship centred care” and this is the principal approach to care provision. Professionals seek to integrate this into all aspects of the home, with the aim of building stronger relationships between residents, staff, relatives, friends, and the wider community.

I can honestly say I felt very let down and I wish more than anything my mum did not have to experience what she went through at the end of her life.
A total lack of compassion, chaotic scenes at my mother's bedside by poorly trained medicating staff made the last few days unbearable and will stay with me forever. There was no need for my mum to suffer but suffer she did.
A Complaint was raised and the response was "standard" to say the least, unfeeling , uncaring and no doubt unlikely to bring about change.
Day to day I think the home runs well any questions are investigated and answered promptly. I feel the staff are well trained, I just wish there were a few more.

My 96 year old Mother in Law stayed in respite residential care in Bassett Care Home for 6 weeks. The care that she received there was second to none. From the carers, the managers, the nurses, entertainment staff and everyone else that works in the home they are all excellent. Nothing was too much...
The care home itself is modern, recently refurbished and immaculate. The home cooked food is excellent with plenty of choice. Visitors are made to feel very welcome. Coffee, tea, cakes and biscuits are always on hand for visitors too.
I highly recommend this care home to anyone looking for care for their loved ones.

The home is modern, bright, clean and welcoming. Safeguards are in place such as keypads to keep residents safe, mum has a side guarded bed with pressure mattress to prevent bed sores and personal care is given by more than one staff member to prevent accidents. I am warmly welcomed when entering...
They keep a close eye on her health and prompt action has been taken when mum has been unwell. Her meals are tailored to her needs and the staff feed her with kindness. Visitors are always asked if we would like a drink when the trolley comes round and we are able to help ourselves to a drink in the kitchen at any time.
Despite being bedridden and having advanced dementia, the activity staff spend time with her regularly. Communication has been fantastic, there is always someone available to speak to regarding mums care and I am able to visit mum at any time.
Highly recommend Bassett House!

My mother has been been at Bassett House since 2022 and as a family we are very happy with the care she has had and continues to receive. When she first arrived at Bassett House we had specific needs and having reviewed a number of care homes the manager at BH was the only one willing to go out of their way to accommodate my mother and, at the time, also my father. My mothers care needs have changed over time and her care has been adapted to anticipate and meet her needs as her condition has developed. The home is extremely welcoming to family and visitors and I don't think there has been a time when I have visited when I have not been greeted by at least one member of staff and that could be anyone from the management team to the cleaning/maintenance staff. Family and friends are actively invited into the home to attend activities and events and the newly refurbished home has really enhanced the overall warmth and friendliness of the home.

Bassett House has looked after Mum very well. The staff always make sure she is nicely dressed and her needs are catered for. They all know her by name and make sure she is included in activities. It has just been updated so provides a homely environment for the residents.

Mum went for respite here for three weeks. The service to get Mum into Bassett House was quick and efficient. Nurse staff were excellent, but some carers would wander off and leave Mum in the bathroom for excessive periods, which resulted in her sorting herself out, which initially was not appropriate. Also, one member of night staff (female) was tough and did not respond to requests for a blanket, as Mum was cold. Generally however, the vast majority of staff were really kind and compassionate. The activities were good and engendered a 'we're all in this together' environment.
