My husband spent his final two weeks in the care of Blandford Grange Care Home. He was comfortable, not in pain and cared for as I would have wished to care for him at home had this been possible.

I feel the nursing home has done an amazing job throughout the pandemic and since. The staff are always polite and helpful even when mum is sometimes distressed and rude due to her medical conditions.

My mother was transferred here from the hospital at the beginning of March. At first, we were encouraged by the fact that this is a modern care home that seems to be providing care at the required standard. However, as time went by we became aware of a lack of information and communication. This was
especially during the period that the home had Covid, when we were not kept abreast of the results that affected the visiting arrangements. Having been in the home a month the initial assessment was sent to the CHC Group without consultation or provision of a copy. We were told that there was no chance of us receiving funding because her needs were not great enough. Rather belatedly we have now been informed by the CHC that she is eligible for Nursing Care Funding although, as yet, the home has not made us aware of this. We have now moved my mother to a Care Home nearer to us and so far we have to say that the experience is totally different with much improved communication.

My mother has been at the care home for coming up to 7 years now. Having a parent with dementia is heartbreaking and I have watched her slowly retreat into not being able to speak or move. I live in London and whenever I visit I go with such a heavy heart knowing she's unable to understand what is going
on BUT without fail I leave feeling comforted she is in such good caring hands.
I visited a couple of months ago and quite rightly they were very strict about visits - taking lateral flow tests - wearing masks, gloves, aprons and restricting the visit to 20 mins outside - I felt safe and happy to be there. Even though my mum can't react to me being there she looked clean and well looked after.
The carers here are exceptional - I know I couldn't do their job and I am full of respect for them and all they do for our families and I'm sure for a low wage. If you do ever have to put a relative into a home this is the one for them.

I understand the difficulty in being excepted into a care home, we had to fight tooth and nail to get our lovely mum in there.
Mum deserved the very best we could do for her and believe me, that's exactly what she received from the manager and all the staff at Blandford Grange. It is so apparent that
this isn't just their job, they are such caring lovely people and I felt safe in leaving our mum in their hands.

It's been a difficult 18 months with Covid restrictions in place to maintain contact but the care home have done their best in difficult circumstances to ensure mum's safety and happiness. They have always been approachable and understanding. Mum enjoys her stay and is happy.

Very difficult to make a full review as I have never been into the home all the time my sister was a resident there. Care seemed a little lacking at first but it improved vastly over the latter months.

I cannot express how grateful I am to the staff at The Blandford Grange for the care they gave to my father. I felt so supported especially by the manager when my father passed away. This support will stay with me always. Staff had gone above and beyond in our time of need. My dad passed in peace, with

Mum is very well looked after by all the staff, they show care, compassion and tenderness in all aspects of their contact with Mum.
Her personality has changed so much in the time she has been at Blandford Grange. She laughs and smiles so much now - something that had been missing before. She loves
people popping in to say hello and has a good laugh with everyone. Every need is tended to quickly and without fuss.

My Dad has been in Blandford Grange for 2 years and I can honestly say he has been treated with the best care and compassion throughout by the carers. Especially now when visiting is not possible. He always seems so happy and loves the food. Although he is not quite so coherent as he was the video calls
we have had with him are amazing as the activity team( one lovely lady in particular) make him so aware of who he is talking to and he interacts so well, with lots of smiles and memories. So to sum up I couldn't wish for my Dad to be in a better place.

The Blandford Grange is a wonderful group of people who made my partner part of their family, For the short time she was in their care we knew that she was in the best possible place, not just for her physical needs but for all the important little things that make life worth living,
The staff are
all friendly, professional, conscientious and nothing seems to be to much trouble for them.
One thing that doesn't get rated often is Communication, It was good to get relevant updated on things such as the Covid outbreak and what actions were being taken, which was a serious load off our minds. Being kept up to date with the homes/loved one's activities a having face time arranged kept us all sane.

The standard of care for my mother has been exemplary throughout her residence.
The video calling throughout the difficult recent times has been an important factor in my mother's health. Two particular carers have been most helpful in accomodating these calls.
All the staff are doing a super job
in a very demanding situation.
Blandford Grange responded to the pandemic in a highly effective lockdown before the slow government advice. I hope that they continue to have all the support they deserve.

Sharon decided to work at Healthcare Homes as she wanted to get back into good old-fashioned cooking.


Prior to joining Healthcare Homes, Sharon was a head chef/Manager at a school for autistic children.


She believes you need to be passionate about your role, have very high standards and enjoys what you are doing. Be adaptable, reliable and friendly to be good in her role.


The favourite part of her working day is serving lunches to residents and receiving feedback from them and seeing residents enjoying their meals.


The biggest professional challenge in her career to date was making the decision to move to the care sector from the education sector. As it turned out, it has been the best decision she has ever made.


Sharon's biggest career highlight to date was preparing food for Princess Anne!


Qualities that make her stand out are being approachable, hardworking, reliable and trustworthy.


Outside of work, she enjoys watching rugby and watching her son play rugby. She also enjoys music and playing darts.


Sharon looks forward to seeing residents and relatives enjoying their meals as it is a major part of their every daily lives at Blandford Grange.

The second I walked into Blandford Grange it felt like a home away from home, the staff have an infectious attitude, and the residents and relatives are truly amazing. There is never a dull moment, and you never know what each day will bring! I couldn’t imagine a better place to work. I love being able to interact with our residents, relatives and team at the front of the house at reception.
