Everyone I have dealings with all do so in a professional manner. The carers look after my wife as if she was one of there own loved ones. The food needs to be looked at, as she enjoys her breakfast but lunch, soup, sandwiches and pudding week in and week out gets very boring, surely a menu change every 4 weeks could be arranged. She does request a change sometimes i.e. boiled egg, sausage sandwich and this works for her.

The home is run in a professional manner and the residents are well cared for. The staff work very hard and could use more bodies at times when really busy.

I came from the hospital for rehabilitation as I fell at home and broke my hip. When I got here I was frozen, the care staff gave me a nice blanket and a nice large cup of tea with three sugars. The care staff took me to my room, it was very warm they assisted me into bed. I must have fallen asleep as the next thing I knew it was morning. They were giving me my tablets, I asked if I could have a cup of tea. I said I want three sugars, they said "we know" I said please call me by my first name. The staff said, "that's ok if its ok with you." I had my tea then fell asleep again, don't know what time it was as they woke me again and asked if I wanted some breakfast. I said just a little of porridge with a lot of sugar. The care staff said "no problem." After my breakfast, they came and help me get washed and dressed. The care staff was so so nice I hadn't a bad thing to say about them all, they were all very nice. The Buckingham Care Home is a lovely place all staff are fantastic at their job.

My Mother-in-law has been in the home 4 years in April 2019. She has loved living there since the first day. The care she got when she first went into the home got her well again, I don't think she would still be with us if she hadn't gone to live there. Credit to the manager and her team who are brilliant, they don't just look after Mum but all the family too. It is a welcoming, clean and comfortable home.

Generally more than adequate. Would appreciate being asked if there was anything else I needed before carers beat a hasty retreat from the room.
I appreciate being warm and comfortable. The facilities in the room were a pleasant surprise. I would appreciate being woken up properly in the morning so that I would have breakfast at proper time.

The care varies from carer to carer.

Mostly clean, accidents quickly cleaned up.
Most carers are kind and considerate.
Food left out of reach of resident whilst in bed and residents not woken up to eat and drink - on occasion juice/water not always supplied unless requested.

One carer is absolutely brilliant with my friend on 26/09/18. She was an example other carers would do well to follow. I would like to move good to excellent next time - as I would like to end my days in this care home.

My aunt was admitted to Buckingham Care Home under very difficult circumstances. The business manager especially has been exceptional in both her communications to me and information about my aunt. I was never concerned about her care and I know she was happy at Buckingham. Thank you to all the staff.

My husband was in another home in Barnsley area so I was paying £50 - £60 a week to see him in taxi fees.
We did very well to get him here.
Since going to Buckingham, myself and two sons are very satisfied, he is well cared for, showered, haircuts, shaved and kept clean together with his clothes which they wash.

He's happy, well cared for by every staff.

My Mother is very happy living here and considers it home.
The staff are kind and very loving towards her.
Her room is kept clean and tidy.
She enjoys the meals provided, and her weekly appointment at the in-house hair salon.

Buckingham House is warm and friendly, and I rest easy, knowing that my Mother is looked after, and secure in her environment.

Mum has been a resident of The Buckingham for just over 2 years. Took a little while to settle in, but she had always been happy there. Some excellent caring staff, that go that extra mile.

My father lived at Buckingham for 18 months and was happy there from Day 1.
He had a short spell in a different care home where he was very unhappy so the family were relieved to find such friendly staff.
Throughout his stay, he gradually became increasingly dependent on staff for all aspects of daily life and they were happy and willing to help.
During his last few days the care lavished on my father and also on my brother and I whilst we stayed with him was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and they were really considerate.

A big thank you to all staff at Buckingham for their exceptional care.

Overall Experience

My mother entered this care home in July 2015, initially for a few days respite care. She has problems walking, apart from at night when she wanders a lot without apparent pain, and dementia. Immediately the staff made her really welcome and were friendly and warm towards her as well as making sure she ate well and took her medicine. The rooms were also really nice and the whole home had a welcoming warm feel about it. As a result of this initial visit we booked my mother in there on a permanent basis and we are really pleased we did this.

My brothers and I and all my mum's visitors have always been made to feel welcome. As well as that the other people staying in the home and their visitors are also friendly and welcoming and happy to talk about what is going on. They have regular events and activities and try to make sure that residents, such as my mother with dementia, as well as those without join in as much as they can. Resident's families and visitors are also invited to join in with any event they are interested in.

All the members of staff from the carers through to the cooks and other support staff seem to know every resident by name.
