I live abroad and visit my mother every few months. I am a nurse - very critical. Allingham House where my mother lives. the care is always of a very high standard. The manager is fantastic all my queries are always dealt with in a professional prompt way. I feel I have an "address". The laundry, dinning room and menu and the activities are excellent. My mother is always beautifully groomed and dressed. The carers are absolutely the best. Never thought I'd praise a home this way.

I think the home offers very good medical care. The food and medical sides are well taken care of. There should be more care staff out on the floor attending to the needs of the residents instead of heads down and filing in forms.

My mother has been well looked after since she arrived. There have been few problems. Occasionally, her clothing has not been checked for missing buttons etc. She is extremely deaf and her hearing aid batteries are not always checked and changed.

I would recommend the above care home as I have found the management very friendly, cooperative and always ready to listen to any concerns and problems etc. I have also witnessed friendliness and helpfulness from all the staff, including the carers, hospitality, maintenance and housekeeping in the way they are all so kind and supportive of my mother. I have developed friendships and a good rapport with many of them. Overall I am very happy and feel that when my mother is not in my presence I know she is in safe and caring hands. Thank you very much.

My sister has been here nearly 3 years, although there have been changes of staff, the care has not suffered and continues to be excellent. If ever my sister needs extra medical care I am informed immediately. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

Overall Experience

My parents became residents as a couple nearly 3 years ago. My mother needed full nursing care towards the end of her life and throughout she was treated with kindness, gentle good humour and with complete regard for her dignity. The staff at Allingham House care for their residents without role 'demarcation', and this friendly and caring ethos is evident at all times, without exception; be they cleaning staff, catering staff [hospitality], carers, nurses or activity facilitators: "pinkies" as Mum called them. It is of great comfort in my Father's bereavement, to be surrounded by such intimate awareness and empathy.

Overall Experience
My mother has dementia and has been at Allingham House since February 2015. Prior to this she lived in a flat and had a carer attending 3 times a day. She became very angry and was reticent to venture out of her room. She became a recluse.

At Allingham she now sits in the lounge daily and enjoys the company of others and all the entertainment. The staff are very diligent, caring and have the ability to bring out the best in each and everyone no matter what their disabilities are. My mother is now happy and contented living in the best environment which provides the highest quality of life which she deserves.
