We are very happy with the home. Mums condition and general well-being has improved significantly since she came here. Although there are still some lows (tears) she seems generally happy, and we have very good moments too.

All in all a very good move for my mother

My husband has been a resident in this home for the past 6 months and I can only praise the quality of care that he has received. My husband seems very content most of the time, but even when he is unsettled, they are able to settle him down. I have no problem with any of the care he receives.

The staff at Allingham House are lovely and caring, they work hard to give care to the residents. It would be great if there could be more one-to-one interaction with residents: from staff to resident. The food provided is good, quick and fresh. My mum enjoys the meals. The staff who provide my mum's care are gentle with her and patient which is reassuring and comforting. The staff who provide activities are excellent, they have a kind and fun approach with the residents and do a brilliant job.

I became a resident at the end of April 2016. My experience over these months has been satisfactory. The care arrangements are working well, catering is very good and my room is comfortable.

As I have established a routine I am becoming satisfied with the service provided.

My dad has been in here for 4 months and seems happy with the present arrangements. He appears to be getting all the care and medication he requires. Extra services like hair, nails and doctors plus his hearing aids are all being attended to when he requires them.

Overall Experience

My husband moved into Allingham House four months ago suffering from advanced Alzheimer's disease. He has a very pleasant room overlooking a charming well-maintained garden which the residents are encouraged to use for socialising and activities whenever the weather is suitable. One example, a falconer with his birds of prey. The atmosphere as soon as you enter the lobby is very friendly, staff, residents and their relations all talking and helping you to settle into the life of the home. The care and support from all the staff, from top to bottom, has been excellent and the residents are at all times treated with dignity and gentleness. The wishes fo the residents are listened to and acted on in a very caring and sympathetic manner. The quality of the equipment used is excellent and is available for the use of the residents when required, such as a special bed to prevent him from falling and a special chair which could be adjusted to his measurements which he finds very comfortable. All his food has to be pureed but it is presented as well as possible and it is enjoyed by my husband. Security has a high priority even in hot weather when windows are open, there is always a responsible person in the room. Unfortunately, my husband has now passed away but the care during the final days could not have been better. Every member of staff was so kind, even making sure that I was alright. I have no regrets in choosing Allingham House as a suitable home for my husband.

There aren't enough works to express the admiration and respect I feel for everyone at Allingham House. I trust and love you all. If everyone had this wonderful love given to them in other care homes there would be dignity, happiness and a healthier community.
As a very caring and loving daughter who has to live in the USA, I am honoured to know you all, and to know that my precious mother is as loved by you all.

Thank you. All my love and respect.

Lovely home, residents well cared for by carers. Nurses not as good as carers though. Communication channels could be better but are improving. Activities are excellent. Lovely in house hairdresser who treats the residents with wonderful respect and care. Decor and cleanliness is lovely. Food is fresh and presented beautifully with lots of choice carers always try to dress the residents nicely in coordinating outfits.

Overall Experience

The staff try very hard to care for the patients. Sometimes communication between staff leaves a bit to be desired, but on the whole they try their best. I appreciate caring is a vocation, and requires a lot of patience. Every case is different and people require different levels of care. It is hard for someone who is very aware to integrate with people who have had dementia so it can be a bit lonely for them. Obviously I have to be realistic about the time each member of staff can spend with each person. I find the carer outstanding with her caring and professional attitude.

My mother has just passed away in Allingham House after having been here for over three years. I cannot fault the care and dedication of all the staff (without exception) from directors to hospitality and cleaning staff. The devotion and tenderness the carers showed to mum especially at the end is something I will not forget. Thank you very much.
