Mum has been at Chesterton Lodge since December 2019. She came in with fairly high levels of confusion and dementia. Since she's been there, her physical and mental health have improved massively. The staff, whether carers, cleaners, laundry, catering or other support staff are lovely. Caring, professional, hard-working lovely people.

I no longer worry about Mum as I know she is being very well looked after.

A very good home with kind and caring staff. My mum was a resident for approximately 7 and a half years and she has received good care during this time. My mum recently passed away and the staff were so very kind to my mum and our family. We can't thank them enough.

Chesterton Lodge needs a refurbishment. Carpets are filthy, walls marked and furniture dirty.

We regularly have to speak to staff to ask them to dress my nan properly, brush hair, put dentures in and generally have some care for her dignity. The staff are all lovely but there needs to be more of them. Four staff with 28 residents is not enough.

Going down the bank in the year my mum has been there. Filthy lounge carpets. Not enough staff for ratio of people in the home (some people need 2 people for assistance). Only 4 staff per floor. Mum not dressed properly on occasions. No bra on! Other people's clothes in the wardrobe. Some staff very good, others not really interested. New manager needed so we can sort out the many issues that are happening recently.

I really enjoyed my month's stay at Chesterton Lodge. All the staff were wonderful and seemed to work very hard. Everyone was very kind and caring. I settled down very quickly and enjoyed the company - very relaxed.

No complaints except the one - my room could be quite cold at times.

Over the years I have seen a decline in the cleanliness and tidiness of the home in general. Although I appreciate restrictions on budgets and staffing, the state of the communal chairs, carpets, flooring and kitchen areas are terrible and I know that new carpets and chairs etc are on order but I feel that housekeeping needs to step up. The rubbish and personal items found down the side of the chairs is disgusting, surely these could be checked and cleaned during the night when not in use.

We were satisfied with Dads care whilst in Chesterton Lodge. He enjoyed the food, the facilities/rooms were excellent and the staff friendly and obliging. Impressed that pyjamas which were not available when Dad left were returned to us in just over one week.

My mother has vascular dementia. She needs 24-hour care. She still recognises me, however, she lives in her own world from the past.

She is being cared for in a very caring, sensitive manner. She is happy. Her environment is pleasant and enjoyable to visit.

Upon reviewing future care homes for my father, I was easily able to find Chesterton Lodge's facilities via the internet to be what would be suitable for my father's needs. I was not disappointed when first visiting the premises at short notice and when giving my dad the opportunity to have a trial day at the home. It was then that it proved Chesterton Lodge was the place for my father. The care provided to residents by management and staff at the home is professional in every way, as in a friendly and caring atmosphere. Clean and modern facilities, good food as well as having staff who are easily accessible, and are noticeable by wearing clean smart and distinct uniforms.

Mum is in her nineties and has recently been diagnosed with mixed dementia. She had to move from her sheltered flat about 6 months ago because she now needs 24hr monitoring/care. I chose Chesterton Lodge because it had good CQC ratings and we found it very welcoming when we came to look. It is modern, has good facilities and the rooms are bright and cheerful with good amenities. The staff are friendly and treat mum with perfect and genuine care. Mum says the food is good (she used to teach cookery). I am kept informed of anything out of the ordinary (minor falls etc). I feel mum is safe.

Good general experience. Difficult to understand some health and safety rules. Having to have a nurse to put plasters on and sending back tablets so they can be halved etc.

Difficult for newcomers to associate themselves into current order without help.

All the important things are excellent particularly the quality of the staff but also purpose-built buildings and value for money (aside from subsidising non-private residents but that is a government issue) Inconveniently decline to provide relatives with the entry code contrary to most care homes. Needs goods delivery around the back to avoid pallets in the entry hall and more spent on gardening. However, the important things are excellent.

Reply from J.Wright, Digital Marketing Apprentice at Chesterton Lodge

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate that not having the entry codes to external doors may feel a little inconvenient for some relatives, however, assure you the safety of residents is our primary concern. Well-meaning relatives have in the past mistaken residents for visitors and, by opening...

The staff are pleasant, welcoming and helpful at all times and are in touch with this residents needs. I visit my aunt at all different hours of the clock and everything is calm and shipshape.

My aunt's room is excellent with a pleasant view of the gardens. Food is always well presented and the breakfast aroma from the carpark is tempting! My aunt is well cared for and included in all that she wants. Her health and well being has improved since she has taken residency at Chesterton Lodge and peace of mind for us has been assured. I would not hesitate in recommending the home to anyone. I have relatives and friends in care and have experience of other places. 5 Star

All staff have been attentive to the needs of both parents, one with dementia and the care offered has always been prompt and of a high standard. They know the names of all residents and when my father went into hospital, the staff went out of their way to always take time to ask how he was and worked with mum to alleviate any anxiety she may have felt.

The management are always ready to make time to discuss any care issues or to update on care medication and general well being. Each time I have visited, they are always involved with the residents and their care.

We found Chesteron Lodge Care Home beautifully decorated and clean. All the staff are very helpful and caring. The food is excellent and presented nicely.
On our first visit to the home regarding our mum, I was overwhelmed at how happy the residents were and I actually passed comment to them and they said that they were happy and couldn't ask for more and were all smiling.
We as a family can see that mum is very happy and well cared for as a resident.

Well done Chesterton Lodge.

My dad has been here for just over a year now and has been very well looked after throughout. It has been understandably difficult for him to adjust to life in care after being independent for so many years (he is 93). It was also something of a problem that he had visited my mum who suffered from Alzheimers at an EMI care home on a daily basis for 12 years. The staff at Chesterton Lodge have been wonderful though and I don't think that he could be in a better place.

My mum has been here since October 2016 and I find the home perfect for her needs. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble when mum needs assistance.

Mum has settled well and has improved in her outlook on life, she sees this as her home now and is very happy. I could not think of a better place where mum could be at this time in her life.
