My father went to Waterside for emergency respite care. The management were fantastic, they sorted everything out within two hours for us.
The general care is of a high standard, dad is treated with dignity and respect. His room is clean and well presented.
I left dad each day feeling confident that
he was happy and very well cared for.

My husband came to live in Waterside Grange Care Home after a recommendation from friends. The first thing we noticed was that there were no 'old people home' odour or atmosphere - the wonderful housekeeping team make sure of this. There is a feeling of spaciousness and dignity is high on the list,
each with having its own wet room. There is too a feeling of looking forward and vibrancy, thanks to the wide range of activities which cover the needs and enjoyment of residents of differing abilities and preferences. During most weeks, there are at least one outing for those for those who would benefit at least one entertainer or guest speaker, singalongs, exercise groups, church service, reminiscence times. An eye-catching board in the foyer shows whats on during the coming week as well as prominently displayed information on all units. On units too there are photographs of Waterside Grange Care Home enjoying activities in-house and out - a good talking point for residents and visitors alike.

This care home is the best within our area.

The care staff are dedicated, caring and professional. At times, you feel they are under too much pressure.

They seem under pressure to document everything on the computer instead of spending time with service users.

Some of the staff go above and

beyond requirements.

Took a while to settle in and some issues at the beginning with cleanliness but all sorted. Carers are excellent especially the ones looking after Mum. Reception could be more friendly and welcoming but overall feel Mum is happy.

The staff always seem friendly and helpful when I visit. I like it that I can make a cup of tea for my friend and me because older people feel better if they feel their hospitality is good. The rooms are warm and comfortable. The food always smells and looks good and well presented.

The day-to-day daily care staff provide the appropriate level of care in a friendly and efficient manner.

Residents have a choice at meals. A biscuit barrel and fresh fruit is available either to help themselves or on request.

Bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms are cleaned - I believe - on what appears

to be a daily basis.

My mother is a long-term resident of Waterside Grange and I can only praise all concerned who work there. The staff truly make it! They are considerate, caring, sensitive and always treat my mother with the utmost dignity. The care home is always welcoming whatever time of day we visit. Clean, warm
and a lovely environment to be in.

The most important thing to me is my mother is happy and safe and I can honestly say this is the case. Thank you all, from the cleaners, admin to the cooks and carers. You are doing a fantastic job.

Current Review Score: 7.6 (7.621)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.6 (7.621) out of 10 for Waterside Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.190 for Waterside Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (28 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.19
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.431 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Waterside Grange Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 83 registered maximum number of service users is 16.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.6 = 0.181
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
