Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has been a resident at Woodhill Lodge for seven years, with health care needs that have been challenging at times. The staff have looked after her superbly, with kindness and dedication. They have welcomed us like friends and been partners with us in always doing the very best for my mum, treating
her with as much love and respect as if she was one of their family. At any point of change, decision making or health concern, the staff have always kept us fully informed, sought our views and respected our thoughts. They also regularly seek feedback and consistently focus on improvement. Knowing how conscientious and caring the staff are has given us a real peace of mind. I feel lucky that my mum was cared for by Woodhill Lodge's staff- she has been in the care of some very special people and I will always be grateful for all they did for her and for me. Thank you.

We came to visit our friend who has Huntingtons disease. When In hospital, our friend was a shell of her former self and it felt like they didn't care. Therefore, when we arrived at the Neu living facility we were apprehensive but our concerns were quickly resolved.
We were greeted at the door by
the manger who took us straight to our friend and introduced us to the team. They were so polite and professional but also jovial with the service users.
My friend looked so well cared for. She had lost weight due to not eating in hospital but was eating her dinner when we arrived. She was dressed beautifully and said how happy she was. one of the carers took us down to the games room where she offered us all drinks and time to catch up. She had been playing pool and air hockey with the carers previously. The difference in her was astounding. She was able to converse. We laughed so much during that time and we're looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you so much for the work you all do.
Reply from Lyndsey Webb, Operations Manager at Neu Living

We're incredibly grateful to the team at Neu Living for the dignity, kindness, and genuine human connection they offer every day. And we're also thankful to you for visiting and for sharing your kind words based on your experience. We will be sure to share with the team. With heartfelt thanks

What a lovely place. All the staff are fantastic, friendly and welcoming. She has settled in the home. I have not seen/heard my daughter laugh/smile for such a long time. To hearing my daughter laughing and seeing

The manager at Woodhill Lodge has been a life saver! She has been with us through thick and thin in the care of my mum since she first came here over 5 years ago. The care given by the staff is excellent and the support for myself is equally so. Communication regarding anything to do with my mum is
also excellent. We are always given time to talk about how things are going.
Mum has started to engage in activities, and these have improved very much since Mum came to Woodhill Lodge 5 years ago. There is more energy in the place.
I hope that the manager and her team get the support they deserve.

I am sister to one of your residents. She has been with you nearly 1 year. She seems to have settled, and the staff are really kind to her when she gets distressed. The atmosphere from entering home is happy, friendly and welcoming. They have got a new D.I.Y person and I have noticed this has made a
real difference to the building. Management good.

My son was given a place at Wood Hill Grange at the beginning of November 2024. Although a younger resident (44) he was taken on a temporary placement. All staff, including reception and ancillary (laundry etc.), have been empathetic, caring, polite and extremely professional. Nothing is too much trouble
and you are always greeted with a smile and a listening ear. The staff have made a horrendous journey seem much more manageable. Thank you.

The care my mother received while resident over a period from 2021 till her death in October 24 was good, but we are disappointed and stressed from dealing with management of both Waterside Grange and their Head Office Portland Care. In May 23 my mum was assessed by Continuing Health Care and given
funding. Unfortunately, due to our lack of understanding of what the funding covered and because we were not advised by the Care Home we continued to make payments up until Aug 24 when a reassessment was performed and the CHC Nurse made us aware that the funding covered all costs as from May 23. But we were still being invoiced by Portland Care! To date we are still trying to reclaim these funds, but they steadfastly refuse to repay it! Please make sure if you have any form of funding allocated, please make sure you are aware of what it covers as it appears you won't be informed by Waterside.

All staff were very welcoming, professional and efficient. The external and internal of the building were very clean and tidy. There was no unpleasant smell. My husband's room was ready for him on arrival and he was offered a drink as soon as he got into his room. He said he enjoyed all the food and
he has plenty to eat. I was asked about his care and everything I said was noted. I was generally impressed with Wood Hill Grange and the care there. Thank you.

The staff went above and beyond when dealing with my Mum in her final days. They were compassionate and extremely caring with both Mum and all the family, nothing was too much trouble. Mum had been a resident at Waterside for the past four years, and it was obvious to see she was very much loved by
the care and other support staff, who all seemed genuinely upset at her passing. We will be forever grateful to the home for taking such good care of our Mum.

During Mum's 2 years and 7 months in Waterside Grange there have been 2 owners, 4 managers and numerous care staff. The new owners, Portland Care, promised; to improve the physical environment, employ more permanent staff, have regular meetings with family with regular feedback, and not put prices up!
Some remedial work was carried out but communal areas and bedrooms still need improvement. The internet has finally been upgraded! The permanent staff are caring but overstretched eg I regularly put in Mum's hearing aid, pour her a glass of water, and change her bedding. Mum struggles with the many different agency staff and they are less likely to get her to take medication/comply with their requests. The prices have increased from £724 to £1100 per week, while some improvements are being made, I don't yet feel Mum gets value for money. Specific issues I have raised over Mum's care have not always been dealt with successfully, however thinking positively a new manager started last week!

My mum has been a resident at Wood Hill Lodge for over two years now, and over this time, I have seen a considerable improvement in the care she has received. The staff seem happier and effort has been and continues to be made to make residents as comfortable and happy as possible. There is always room
for improvement, but I do sincerely appreciate the effort of the management, but mainly the staff/carers in Derwent. Thank you, and keep up the great work.

My son has been a resident at Woodhill House for over a year now. He has always related well with the staff on the respite unit. They have seen us and him through a very difficult time with severe health problems eventually ending in manor surgery. He is now well on his road to recovery and we cannot
praise the staff for all their input at this very lengthy stressful time. The care they give is outstanding. We have always felt he is safe, secure, and well cared for.

We have a severely disabled daughter who is nonverbal and requires 24-hour care and she attends respite at Wood Hill House for short breaks. Over time we have built and developed trust in the regular staff that work on Weston Unit. Our daughter shows signs that she is happy in this environment and as
parents we feel this is a safe space. The regular staff on Weston know our daughter inside and out and often go above and beyond to provide her care and anticipate her needs. They care for her personal hygiene, health needs and she always looks happy and well-presented when we collect her. I can’t stress enough how essential this trust is with regards to leaving our daughter, they provide excellent communication and anticipate things we might find concerning. We genuinely consider them our extended family.
