My mum wasn't having the best time here, but when Michelle stepped in it all changed. She is a dedicated person who loves her job, she has genuine empathy for the residents and cares for them deeply, she is always happy to help, and if any issue arises, she will always do her best to solve them. The
home is now filled with love and warmth, and that is down to Michelle.
Reply from Lyndsey Webb, Operations Manager at Wood Hill Grange Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your kind feedback. We are truly grateful for your thoughtful words and are delighted to hear about the positive difference Michelle has made to your mum's experience.

Michelle is a valued member of our team, and it means a great deal to know that her dedication, compassion, and genuine care for our residents is being felt by families. Creating a warm, supportive environment where residents feel respected, comfortable, and cared for is exactly what we strive for, and it's wonderful to hear that this has been reflected in your mum's time with us.
Your comments will certainly be shared with Michelle and the rest of the team, as feedback like yours is incredibly encouraging and reminds us why we do what we do. Thank you again for your kind words and for trusting us with your mum's care.

If dad hadn't been in Woodhill Grange, he wouldn't have lasted as long as he did. He could hardly walk after spending much of his time in a previous home. The staff encouraged him to walk again. He struggled with his dementia, but overall, I could tell he was happy. Dad had a good rapport with the staff,
even when he struggled to speak. They were all lovely to him and very caring when he died. Thank you.
Reply from Lyndsey Webb, Operations Manager at Wood Hill Grange Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your kind words. It truly means a great deal to all of us.
We are honoured to have been able to care for your dad and to be part of his journey. Knowing that he regained confidence with walking, felt supported through his dementia, and shared happy moments with our team is incredibly meaningful to us. He was very fondly regarded by the staff, and the rapport he built with them will always be remembered. Please accept our sincere condolences. Our thoughts are with you and your family, and we're grateful you trusted us with your dad's care.

I am very happy that I know my dad is safe in the care home. He always seems very content and says "he likes it here". The food looks good and all seems to be freshly made. My son was given a place at Wood Hill Grange at the beginning of November 2024. Although a younger resident (44) he was taken on a temporary placement. All staff, including reception and ancillary (laundry etc.), have been empathetic, caring, polite and extremely professional. Nothing is too much trouble
and you are always greeted with a smile and a listening ear. The staff have made a horrendous journey seem much more manageable. Thank you.

All staff were very welcoming, professional and efficient. The external and internal of the building were very clean and tidy. There was no unpleasant smell. My husband's room was ready for him on arrival and he was offered a drink as soon as he got into his room. He said he enjoyed all the food and
he has plenty to eat. I was asked about his care and everything I said was noted. I was generally impressed with Wood Hill Grange and the care there. Thank you.

Mum has been a resident at Wood Hill for two years. Our overall experience has been good. Mum has been well cared for by staff on Loxley. The care staff and qualified staff are genuine and kind, although there is a language barrier with a few of the care staff. Out areas of concern are lack of stimulation
for Mum and organised activities that occur infrequently. Another problem is the payment of Mum's care home fees to Portland, which results in Mum being in areas. We (there are four daughters) do however feel well-supported as a family.

Dad has been in the nursing home for the last 6 months due to severe falling at home with spells in the hospital. He hasn't had a fall since arriving at Wood Hill Grange Care Home. I video call him every day which the staff help with and he is shaven, dressed and clean. I feel all the staff are approachable
and helpful and Dad settled straight away. The member of staff in reception helps and advises on every task. Thank you Wood Hill Grange staff.

My mother came to live at Wood Hill Grange in October 2021, initially for respite for a month. During that time it became apparent that she would be happier and better staying here for end-of-life care, which she did until her death in December. I live abroad and tried to get there as often as possible
and I am grateful for the home in accommodating those special circumstances. Wood Hill Grange is a purpose-built care home, so the rooms are very spacious. The food is good and the staff do their best to encourage residents to join in activities. The staff treated my mother with the greatest respect at all times, the care was obviously driven by compassion and dignity. I will be forever grateful to the staff for all they did.

My dad was sent to Wood Hill Grange Care Home last year. From the very beginning, every one of the staff from kitchen assistants to managers were some of the kindest most compassionate people I have met, nothing was too much for these angels as my mum called them. Care staff on Dad's floor went above
and beyond and we would now class them as dear friends. Once again, I can't express our thanks enough for all their care and comfort they gave my dad and us.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.921)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.921) out of 10 for Wood Hill Grange Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.504 for Wood Hill Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 127 Ratings = 4.504
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.417 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wood Hill Grange Care Home is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15. 10 Positive Reviews ÷ 15 = 0.667
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
