The staff are good, am very pleased with the service. I've only been here for five weeks and I'm happy with the service, can't fault them for anything. The home is clean and well-maintained. Everyone talks to each other respectfully and this makes a big difference.

The staff have been so caring and attentive to Mum's needs and have accommodated her every request. As visitors to the home, we are always made to feel like family, and the generous welcome is heart-warming and inclusive. The home itself is beautifully appointed, with the appearance of a hotel, and
the activities programme is a brilliant aid to any resident trying to settle in and make friendships.
Reply from Christopher Roby, Reviews Team at Ancasta GroveThank you for providing such kind and caring feedback; we are pleased that you feel so welcome when visiting and that the activities program is supporting people to make new friendships and remain engaged in social interactions. Thank you!

To start with I cannot thank and applaud the staff too much, they are fabulous. From the moment I walk through the front door the feeling of warmth and caring abounds. The house is so friendly, the staff are so caring and welcoming. Above all I know Mum is safe, very comfortable and happy. Inside the
home the rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and functional.
Outside the gardens are lovely and Mum really enjoy the patio door open and the plants and wildlife in view.
Reply from Christopher Roby, Reviews Team at Ancasta GroveIt's so great to hear such a positive thank you to the staff, and comments about the friendly nature of the home. It is so important for us to provide the residents and their families with an environment they feel comfortable in, and feel welcome. Thank you!

My mum was in hospital when we were looking for a care home, so she was unable to see Ancasta for herself.
The customer relations manager treated myself and my sister with such kindness, always keeping us up to date with emails and phone calls and giving us extra help and advice. Our mum is now settled
at the home. All the staff are friendly, professional and caring and there is a full programme of activities. When the lifestyle lead heard that our mum played a particular card game he started a club afternoon. Such personal service!
Reply from Christopher Roby, Reviews Team at Ancasta GroveThank you for your kind words about the staff and also the activity program, it is such an important part of the resident's well-being and there is always room for new clubs to start!

As soon as my mother moved into Ancasta Grove, all the staff went out of their way to welcome her into the home community and to get to know her personally. Any requests we made were acted on quickly and efficiently.
Mum celebrated a very big birthday while she was at Ancasta Grove, and the whole team
made a huge effort to make sure the day was special for her and her family.
The facilities at the home are exceptional, and there is always plenty going on for residents to get involved in such as visiting musicians, local schoolchildren helping with gardening, and games of bingo in the lounge.
I have no hesitation in recommending Ancasta Grove.

My mum arrived at Ancasta Grove three weeks ago and from the minute we arrived we both felt a great culture within the home.
The staff are very friendly, and caring and go to many lengths to engage all the residents in current and meaningful activities if they wish to do so.
The community also are
involved with visits to the home and this creates a wonderful atmosphere.
I personally feel comfortable spending time with my mum in and around the home as the staff makes me feel very welcome. All the team go to many lengths to ensure my mum is safe, happy, and content which is so reassuring.
We look forward to many more happy times at Ancasta Grove as our journey here has only just begun.

My father moved to Ancasta Grove Care Home in June 2023 and it has been the best thing for my father and the family. He has had various episodes of being extremely unwell and the way the staff have dealt with him and the family at these times has been very compassionate and honest.
At the moment, he
is doing well and this is down to the excellent care that he receives from all of his carers and nurses. Nothing is too much trouble and the staff all work hard to make all residents feel comfortable and as much as being in their own home as much as possible.
I cannot say enough good things about this care home or its staff and I am just so grateful that my father is in this home and he is happy and comfortable which is what we all want for our loved ones.

My mum stayed for two weeks respite whilst her carer went into hospital. That was five months ago and she's been there since. Mum loved it so much she didn't want to go back home. The care "hotel", as Mum called it, was just wonderful. The lovely staff can't do enough for her and the food is fabulous.
There are plenty of activities to join in with (great for my mum as she is very sociable) but also there's always somewhere quiet to go if she wants to.
I would 100% recommend.

Ancasta Grove Care Home is a very special place, run by wonderful people. People who care. Everyone hopes that their relatives will have a home-from-home experience. Being looked after by people who care as if they are their own mother, father, grandma or grandad. This I found to be true. You can always
discuss matters with staff whilst having a meal with your loved ones. I feel truly blessed that there was a vacancy for my dad at this haven.

Ancasta Grove is a really special place. The staff are absolutely amazing, very caring towards the residents and show a lot of empathy. I visited many care homes before settling on Ancasta Grove. Nothing I saw could compare to it, it's like a 5-star hotel for people who need to be treated with care,
love and respect. Our family member is settling in very well.

My mother has been in Ancasta Grove for 10 months. She has nursing care and I have been very impressed with how the staff look after her. She is always treated with dignity even though she is totally reliant on the staff for all of her needs. The home is always spotless. The food is of excellent quality
which as her one pleasure is very important to her. I have always found the staff really approachable. Both the nurses and management deal with any queries or issues promptly. I would also like to commend the reception staff for their kindness and willingness to help.

It feels that residents have a home rather than be in a home. All staff in all areas are very friendly, helpful, and efficient. They listen and sort out any queries or problems you may have. They really go that extra mile. The only problem that could arise is when agency staff have to be used. Some
are better than others. Will also be a bonus when the minibus is up and running. Overall a great place, not only for my dad but also a great help to me.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.683)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.683) out of 10 for Ancasta Grove is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.683 for Ancasta Grove is calculated as follows: ( (249 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 322 Ratings = 4.683
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ancasta Grove is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

As Home Manager, my role is to deliver consistently high levels of care.

I also think it is important to make sure colleagues feel heard and valued.

I have varied experience and qualifications including a degree in maths and statistics, expertise in financial modelling streams and I’m a registered nurse. As a home manager, I get to put all my skills and knowledge to good use every day.

In my role, you need to be passionate about caring. You also have to be friendly and genuinely enjoy being with people and working as part of a team. Care UK’s values: Caring, Passionate and Teamwork underpin everything we do. Care UK is also an organisation that encourages career growth, and for me, working for the most awarded care home provider is a real career highlight. As author Tia Walker says: “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honours.”

One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents, their families and colleagues – and anyone else who pops in for a chat. Everyone has a story, and I love listening and finding out more about people.

In my free time, I adore exploring the seaside and travelling. I also enjoy taking walks and being with my family.
