Ancasta Grove's staff and facilities are excellent. In the few months we have experienced the care home, we've been impressed by everything. Staff are friendly and proactive, put on many activities daily, and I understand will individualism activities as required. Medical care has been thorough and efficient.

Ancasta Grove Care Home is a very special place, run by wonderful people. People who care. Everyone hopes that their relatives will have a home-from-home experience. Being looked after by people who care as if they are their own mother, father, grandma or grandad. This I found to be true. You can always discuss matters with staff whilst having a meal with your loved ones. I feel truly blessed that there was a vacancy for my dad at this haven.

Ancasta Grove is a really special place. The staff are absolutely amazing, very caring towards the residents and show a lot of empathy. I visited many care homes before settling on Ancasta Grove. Nothing I saw could compare to it, it's like a 5-star hotel for people who need to be treated with care, love and respect. Our family member is settling in very well.

My mother has been in Ancasta Grove for 10 months. She has nursing care and I have been very impressed with how the staff look after her. She is always treated with dignity even though she is totally reliant on the staff for all of her needs. The home is always spotless. The food is of excellent quality which as her one pleasure is very important to her. I have always found the staff really approachable. Both the nurses and management deal with any queries or issues promptly. I would also like to commend the reception staff for their kindness and willingness to help.

It feels that residents have a home rather than be in a home. All staff in all areas are very friendly, helpful, and efficient. They listen and sort out any queries or problems you may have. They really go that extra mile. The only problem that could arise is when agency staff have to be used. Some are better than others. Will also be a bonus when the minibus is up and running. Overall a great place, not only for my dad but also a great help to me.

Excellent new purpose-built accommodation. The atmosphere is light and airy and friendly. Lovely garden for all to enjoy. Daily activities for residents to partake in if they wish as well as regular interaction with local primary school which is beneficial to the children as well as the residents.

Overall Experience

We have sadly experienced several care homes over the years and have not had a positive experience of them. However, Ancasta Grove has changed that, the staff are all so welcoming and caring and nothing is too much trouble, the home is extremely clean and the food is amazing. They go beyond meeting my Mum's basic needs of sleeping, eating, washing, dressing, and taking medication. They also look after her mental health by making sure she takes part in activities, carol singing, flower arranging, and lots of other activities. They even organise someone to paint my Mum's nails, which she loves. The home is surrounded by woodland which means there is always wildlife to watch outside. We take the family dog in to see Mum and he loves watching the squirrels. I really can not praise this home enough and all the lovely members of staff, they are a credit to the company.

The rooms and hallways and porch, small dining rooms and lounges are superbly decorated. It has a hotel-like feel, outstanding. The staff, without exception, are kind, caring and efficient, it is traumatic when you can no longer cope with a parent's dementia and behaviours. The staff are reassuring and knowledgeable. Well done.

My mother enjoyed her 2 weeks of respite care at Ancasta Grove. She felt safe, secure and well looked after. The food was excellent, a good hotel standard. The activities were good but she would have liked more variety but these were reduced because of the Covid pandemic. She would have liked more opportunity to exercise, a longer exercise class, or the opportunity to go for a walk in the nearby park. She very much appreciated that the staff recognised the problem in the dining room on the first day and opened up another one for the remainder of her stay. Thank you, Ancasta Grove.

The introduction to the home was very informative and detailed with every effort made to accommodate our wishes for a smooth transition from Devon. On arrival with both, all staff were very welcoming and caring to ensure this change was smooth. Since then, the level of care being shown has been exemplary. One in-law is demanding in care needs and this has been dealt with through a very caring and supportive manner, the other says himself 'five-star'!

As soon as I walked through the doors of this home I knew it would be right for both of my parents. The admission process was very efficient, friendly, and informative. This was all new ground for me and I felt I was dealt with in an excellent manner. Both my parents have settled in to the home very quickly and I am impressed with the care and attention given by all the staff.

Audrey ChidukuJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2024

As Home Manager, my role is to deliver consistently high levels of care.

I also think it is important to make sure colleagues feel heard and valued.

I have varied experience and qualifications, including a degree in maths and statistics, expertise in financial modelling streams, and I’m a registered nurse. As a home manager, I get to put all my skills and knowledge to good use every day.

In my role, you need to be passionate about caring. You also have to be friendly and genuinely enjoy being with people and working as part of a team. Care UK’s values: Caring, Passionate and Teamwork underpin everything we do. Care UK is also an organisation that encourages career growth, and for me, working for the most awarded care home provider is a real career highlight. As author Tia Walker says: “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honours.”

One of my favourite parts of the day is the time I spend with residents, their families and colleagues – and anyone else who pops in for a chat. Everyone has a story, and I love listening and finding out more about people.

In my free time, I adore exploring the seaside and travelling. I also enjoy taking walks and being with my family.
