Anita Stone Court provides nursing care to those aged over 60, with a high proportion of residents living with dementia. It is located on a leafy road in Moseley, near Highbury Park and about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Moseley Village. It is a bright, modern environment that nevertheless has a homely, warm atmosphere.

The team is committed to making a positive impact and together they work tirelessly provide a warm and comfortable home where residents feel safe and respected. The home is part of a charity, so every penny of profit is reinvested for the benefit of residents.

The team believe in understanding the life stories of residents and being a part of their future. It’s a privilege they cherish deeply.

Anita Stone Court has numerous communal areas where residents and their guests can socialise and relax. These include two lounges, a bistro, landscaped gardens and a number of quiet areas. My husband came into Anita Stone Court after being at home for several years. The care he has is well beyond expectations. Calm serene atmosphere. Always greeted by staff and made welcome. I am better now that I am a wife not a carer.

I've found that Anita Stone Court has been fabulous with the care of my husband. The carers, nurses and manager know all residents personally and so their utmost to make sure the residents' needs are met to a high standard.

My husband has been a resident for 16 months and has had minimal mobility for all that time. I am happy with the care that he receives from the hard-working staff. He chooses not to participate in any activities so spends all his time in his room. He has a nice room, overlooking the garden, and makes
use of his TV. When family members visit they are always offered a cup of tea/coffee.

Anita Stone Court proved to be perfect for my mother's needs - wheelchair and mixed dementia. I had to take the difficult decision to find a suitable care home but as soon as I entered and met staff I just knew it would be ideal. Once mom moved in she did find it difficult at first but the expert care
and attention given to her ensured she settled well and started to get involved with the activities on offer. All of the staff - managers, nurses and carers - showed excellent knowledge and support to mom.
Unfortunately mom's health quickly took a turn for the worse and she sadly passed away. The manager, nurses, carers and paramedics were with her but I didn't manage it get there in time. The staff were incredibly attentive to me when I arrived and they all showed the greatest respect and love to mom - even lining up as she was taken by the undertakers. I cannot thank them enough for their kind words of condolence. I would have loved mom to have lived longer in this wonderful home.

My mother was a resident of the home due to her dementia and mobility issues. Initially she kept requesting to leave but the staff were reassuring and up until her death in April she had settled and seemed happy.
Unfortunately she only was at the home for 8 weeks until she passed away age 92. I live
in the south of England and when I visited I was welcomed and the assistant manager spent time with me - advising me of the mums routines, her key workers and showed me her room. I also was in email contact with the manager who I found very helpful and people centred. The care staff also appeared to be involved with the residents and not with each other which I've seen in other establishments.
My mother particularly liked the coffee lounge area where she enjoyed a latte with family who visited. The grounds are also delightful.
My mums last weeks of her life were enhanced by the care she received. Thank you all at Anita Stone.

Our family member was in Anita Stone Court nursing home for five months and we are happy with the care he received. The staff are caring and considerate and the general atmosphere is warm and friendly throughout the home and everything appeared to run smoothly whilst I was there.

The care home is amazing. My 97yr old Mum passed away with extreme dignity, care and kindness. The staff provided the best care I could of wished for my mum. I will not forget them.

I have found the care home manager to be very helpful. Due to a financial error, we were being charged the wrong amount for Mum's 24-hour care. We had a series of meetings to rectify the shortfall and a helpful, considerate understanding was reached. I had complained that some of the food served seemed
like 'convenience' food. The manager took the trouble to show me that their food was made with fresh ingredients, even giving me a tour of their ambient fridge room.

My mum has vascular dementia for several years and has been at this home for 4 years. She has always said that she is happy. We had to take her off site for a dental appointment and on our return to the house, she became confused, not recognising where she was and unable to independently navigate to
the room, not recognising her room and became inconsolable. Various members of staff came to our aid, deploying their care, experience and empathy to distract Mum by taking her to a different room (their sensory room) and engaging her is a quiet activity. It was reassuring for me to witness my mum being cared for in this way.

Before Mother came to Anita Stone Court she had been in hospital for 2 months and was very poorly, subdued and not really very happy as you can imagine. Well, what a turnaround, after a few weeks in Anita Stone Court Mother started to show signs of her old self with her special personality and sense
of humour showing again. This is all to do with the way she has been cared for and the dedication given by all the staff members who are a credit to Anita Stone. Keep up the good work.

Mum has recently moved into Anita Stone Court and I am so glad we have come here. From the moment we arrived, we were fully involved with planning Mum's care. We were introduced immediately to her named nurse and her key worker and all the staff have made an effort to get to know Mum and understand
her needs and preferences. The manager and all of the team have been the epitome of kindness and seem to actively enjoy what they are doing making the environment a happy and warm place to be.
Mealtimes are made very sociable which is a bonus for Mum who doesn't like to eat alone and the food is excellent. The bistro where we can come and have a drink or snack as a family, together with Mum, is a real bonus.

As my dad does not suffer with any cognitive difficulties, food is the most important experience that a patient can have outside of daily care. Met with the General Manager to carry out a 6-month review of my Mother's stay.
I felt that the manager had a good level of awareness of Mom's challenging behaviour and was able to talk, in detail, about how this has changed over this period.
The manager struck me as being in tune with her role and
how that relates to residents, family, and team members alike.
Throughout the manager appeared to be highly motivated and enthusiastic about what she is responsible for.
I complimented her on the attention and care given to my Mother and, in particular, the positive culture that provides this.

My dad has been here for three months, and we are very happy with the care from the team. My mom, at 81, is very comfortable here and visits every day. She walks around the place as if she is a resident, and that's how the team make her feel. There are things that can always be improved, but care and
compassion are paramount to us, and my dad gets that in abundance.

Anita Stone Court lists a care home manager as someone who left in Jan 2023, we think, no one told relatives. After 6 months of relying on agency staff and a meeting in June 2023 to admit care had been poor, the new Manager (the one after the previous that left) tried to turn things around but has now
left having only worked at the Anita Stone Court June - August/beginning Sept 2023. That most recent manager really tried but one individual cannot deal with how far processes had lapsed including during the previous manager's period and the subsequent 6 month gap - improvements have only ever been partial. BCOP needs to support any new manager coming to turn the home around. Individual staff are friendly but care is inconsistent. Anita Stone Court also went from 'Requires Improvement' rating CQC to 'Good Requires Improvement' however the manager who took over briefly this summer said it was in reality it was back to 'Requires Improvement': this downward spiral will continue unless BCOP steps in. For us, Anita Stone Court was also badly behind on meeting DOLs.

When our manager left in late February we informed residents immediately & families when they visited - I am sorry that you felt this wasn't sufficient and we will ensure a more formal communication happens in the future. The service has been steadily improving since its first 'requires improvement' review and we are confident this will continue when we are next inspected. The manager who was with us only 3 months hadn't completed their induction and so was not yet fully conversant with our processes and the improvements implemented. We would be delighted to discuss these with you, along with plans for additional improvements. We are proud of the care and services delivered, and this is reflected in the majority of feedback. We want to ensure this great experience is felt by everyone and so would love to explore further the individual scores you gave.

My application was accepted in September 2022; my son visited the apartment in advance and sent me a comer video.
After the upheaval of my move from Northumberland, the facilities in the apartment, in reality, came as an extraordinarily pleasant surprise.
The staff and admin/managers made every
effort to help me settle into this new address and local facilities so that I can now conduct an independent life and still count on their help when necessary.

Mum was only at the home for a short time but the care and compassion she received was excellent.
The food was lovely and as a family, we felt valued and listened to.
Unfortunately, she was not well enough to participate in the activities on offer. At the end of her life staff ensured she maintained
her dignity and that she was well presented which is something that was important to her. Staff also spent time chatting to her to support her mental health as she was anxious due to breathing difficulties. I would recommend the home.

Grandad is very settled, staff are really kind, lovely home and good food. Nothing seems too much trouble and they all seem to genuinely care. Not keen on the animals though, I don’t think they have big enough pens. Could you let someone else look after them like on a farm or something and have them
come to visit? This doesn't put me off though, it's a lovely place thank you for all your care.
My mum's uncle is in your other home, that is lovely too.

My partner came to the home in November 2022. I am very happy with the care, he enjoys all the food. I know that he is kept safe which is reassuring. All the staff are extremely kind to him.
