Offers a warm, confident and competent welcome to new residents in a great environment. Care and support are excellent, and recognition of the emotional transition needs of a client, sacrificing their past to live in a new community, is compassionate. Care, activities and team are hard-working and thoughtful!
Reply from Debbie Rapson, General Manager at Bucklers LodgeThank you for your kind words, which I will pass on to the team. We appreciate positive feedback. Your mother-in-law has settled well into the home and is enjoying the new friendships she is making.

My mother has been at Bucklers Lodge for three weeks. I have found the carers to be nothing short of professional. Their caring attitude is excellent. In addition, the staff, front of house, housekeeping and the activities are all friendly, helpful and efficient. The food is amazing, so beautifully
presented too. The facilities and location are first-class.

My nanny has been living at Bucklers Lodge since 2022. She was very apprehensive about moving into a care home, but she has been very happy at Bicklers Lodge and now thinks of it as home.
The home has lovely facilities, great outdoor space and fantastic views.
The staff are friendly, caring and welcoming.
We would definitely recommend Bucklers Lodge to other families.

I visit my friend here regularly and the staff are all so helpful. You can see they really care and offer support, the care manager helps sort out any issues and is well-seen within the home which is nice to see. The food looks amazing and always fresh cakes on display. Would definitely like to live
here myself. Well done all.

My mother has settled into Bucklers Lodge very well, having been very resistant to a move into a care home. The staff have all been fantastic in helping her to settle and feel welcome. The facilities are great, with a cafe and cinema along with an arts and crafts room and library. My mother is usually
a fussy eater, but is enjoying the food which is plentiful. I would definitely recommend Bucklers Lodge.

I live in the northeast and visited my brother for two days in October. I am pleased my brother seems content in the care home and the staff have been very friendly and polite. My brother feels reassured this his safety is addressed and that he is given his medication. My brother is happy with support
of the staff, he has some hearing difficulties and so he values nice, clear speech. He recognises that he needs assistance for food sometimes to be cut up for him, This can be difficult for him. I am delighted that he seems so happy in this care home.

My father-in-law has been in the home for seven months and he has settled in well due to the staff who are kind, considerate and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The environment is beautiful. The home is like a hotel with comfortable lounge areas, a welcoming bistro and the bedrooms with ensuites
are very well-appointed. We've been very impressed overall, with the care provided.

From the moment Mum arrived to a 'red carpet', I knew she would enjoy her stay and I was reassured that she would be safe and cared for by the incredible staff who all engaged with her at every level, with friendly, yet disciplined interaction. I have no worries about recommending Bucklers Lodge to
anyone who needs care for a loved one.

What a wonderful, warm welcome Mum received when she moved into Bucklers Lodge at the beginning of May. The staff are all so attentive and caring and I can already see an improvement in Mum's health and wellbeing. We, her family have also been made to feel welcome and involved in all aspects of her
care and activities, which in turn, helps Mum feel that she really is at home. It is often said that it is people who make a home and this seems very true at Bucklers Lodge.

My uncle and aunt have been at Bucklers Lodge for a week. During this time, I have found the staff to be helpful, courteous and always extremely pleasant. They tell me that the food is delicious. My uncle thinks the portions are great, but my aunt says they are too big. Overall, I am very satisfied.

My parents moved into Buckler's Lodge in March 2022 and have settled very well. They are well cared for by the staff, who are exceptionally kind. Since they moved in, I have particularly observed significant improvement in the physical and mental well-being of my mother. Currently, there are not many
residents and the activities are quite limited, although I am sure that more will be introduced as the number of residents increases. However, the staff engage with my parents throughout the day and the beautiful surroundings of Buckler's Lodge mean that they spend time in various parts of their new home, including the gardens.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.090)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.090) out of 10 for Bucklers Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.365 for Bucklers Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (9 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 200 Ratings = 4.365
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.725 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bucklers Lodge is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 14 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.875
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have spent most of my working life in leadership roles, but it is within the care sector that I have truly found my purpose. I began my career as a Nursery Nurse before moving into leisure and healthcare management, and for the past 20 years, I have worked within CQC-regulated care services.

Throughout my career, I have held a variety of roles, from Registered Manager positions to turnaround and interim roles, helping services improve standards and create positive, sustainable change. I am proud to have supported four care homes in achieving a ‘Good’ CQC rating, including services within Bupa and Avery Homes, and to have helped improve a ‘Requires Improvement’ rating to ‘Good’ within 15 months at Castle House Group in Battersea.

Providing high-quality, person-centred care is at the heart of everything I do. I am passionate about ensuring every resident is treated with dignity, respect, and individuality, with care tailored to their unique needs and life experiences. I believe in being a visible, approachable, and hands-on leader, supporting both residents and staff to create a positive and welcoming environment.
