First-class care provided by very caring staff. Always very good at keeping me updated concerning medical issues and appointments. The food is very good and my aunt seems to enjoy it. The activities are excellent and very well run. The residents clearly enjoy them and take part with enthusiasm.

During these most difficult times, I can only praise most highly all the efforts and care Bury Lodge staff have put into keeping my mother safe and well. The strain the staff must be enduring is unimaginable and again I can't thank them enough.
I look forward to thanking them all personally as soon
as possible, in the meantime thanks again for all your kindness and care.
Take care and stay safe!

I placed my mother here for respite care whilst we waited for another place at a care home, where we knew the manager, to become available. After four weeks I decided to make my mothers stay permanent as she was settled and very well looked after. The staff are excellent, patient and friendly and this
is especially important for my mother who is suffering from huge memory loss. During the COVID-19 outbreak the management acted quickly to lock down the care home very early and that contributed to a very secure environment for all residents and prevented any potential catastrophe. Whilst my mother is oblivious to her location and whereabouts, I am comforted by the fact that I know she is being very well cared for, especially as my visits have been significantly reduced. You could not wish for a better care home.

Bury Lodge has given my father a new lease of life. He is properly washed, dressed, fed and safe, in a homely environment with friends who have become like family. Staff are kind and caring and have worked heroically during the COVID-19 outbreak to minimise the impact on Bury Lodge. The home is spotlessly
clean yet comfortable. He is happy and content, so I could ask for no more.

I have found both the management and staff are extremely kind, caring and helpful. There is nothing that's too much trouble for them.
The management are always available and are very proactive. The carers are kind and make both residents and visitors welcome.
Since COVID started they have been incredibly
careful and protective of their residents and staff. I feel safe in the knowledge that they are doing everything they can.

Bury Lodge was the perfect Care Home for our mum after she broke her hip at age 96. She never wanted to go into a home but it was not an option. Bury Lodge supported and encouraged Mum and also got her eating again. She participates in and enjoys the daily activities in this light, bright and cheerful
home. Unfortunately aged 97 she broke her other hip and we were told by the hospital physios it was unlikely she would ever walk again. Bury Lodge took her back and confidently told us they would get her walking again and to our amazement they did. With the care and kindness of the staff we cannot speak highly enough of the way they are looking after our mum. In this present climate of Covid 19, the staff are doing an amazing job trying to keep everyone safe and stimulated and well looked after. We as a family very much appreciate all their hard work.

Mum moved in about five months ago and is delighted. The rooms are spacious, bright, modern, airy and clean and the home is lovely inside. She has furnished her room to her own taste. There are several lounges/meeting places where she can sit and read, watch TV, play games or have family and friends
pop over. There are activities every week, almost every day, and she is able to pop in and out as she pleases, knowing that when she gets back home, there is always someone there to help and assist her. The food is good, and although there could be more fruit and veg, the menu is easy to digest and seems to suit everyone. The manager and her team are very kind and supportive and will always work to find a solution for anything that may crop up. The location is ideal, close to everything in town and it really feels like home from home. After living with us for ten years, it has been really reassuring to know Mum will have the help she needs but still be close to us.

My aunt was one of the first residents of Bury Lodge in May 2016 and unfortunately, she died there in August 2019. She loved every single member of staff there, regardless of their status or position and in turn, they all showed her great care, support, kindness and friendship. Full marks to the manager
and her team. I highly recommend Bury Lodge as an exemplary care home and am very grateful to them.

My husband was admitted to Bury Lodge almost two years ago, after a three-week stay in hospital. He arrived weak and significantly underweight. During his residency in Bury Lodge over this 22 month period, he received excellent care, which led to some necessary weight gain, he regained his mobility
and was able to continue functioning independently. Importantly, he often told me that he liked the staff and felt totally comfortable there. He felt truly settled at Bury Lodge.
I visited my husband often, two to three times per week and met many members of staff across all disciplines from the care team to catering to laundry to administration to entertainment. My experience was entirely positive. I found the home’s prevailing atmosphere and ethos throughout to be one of genuine caring, kindness, courtesy and professionalism.
Bury Lodge is an outstanding example of the very best in care homes.

My mother lived at Bury Lodge for the last 2 years of her life and passed away in hospital, she was 92 years of age. During her time at Bury Lodge she was happy and it was regarded by her as her home. The carers showed her respect at all times, but also they had fun together. She was very well cared
for and made many friends.

The manager and her team are an amazing group of people who create a wonderful home.
As Dad's health deteriorated it was a comfort to us all to know he was being looked after and treated with kindness and respect.
For the two years Dad lived at Bury Lodge he was very happy and well cared for, we couldn't
have asked for more.

Mum had a moment and couldn't be woken, staff called an ambulance. A member of staff called me at work, she delivered the very difficult circumstances to me, that mum was unresponsive, for such a young lady this must have been difficult. Two other staff members took charge and gave us direct advice.
We cannot praise the staff enough at Bury Lodge. Mum is very happy here.

I hold lasting power of attorney for my wife, who has dementia. The home is very modern - my wife had a very comfortable bedroom with all mod cons etc. The staff were very attentive and cheerful and the help my wife received with washing/showering/dressing etc was very good. The food was also very good
and I was able to have lunch with my wife (for a small fee, of course!)

Unfortunately, they are unable to deal fully with my wife's worsening dementia, so a separate home is now being considered. This is a great pity, as my wife would have been very happy there if the future demands it. I would recommend Bury Lodge with very good management and ongoing care and purpose.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.529)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.529) out of 10 for Bury Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.729 for Bury Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.729
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bury Lodge Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

My journey with B&M family started in 2021 as deputy manager at White plains Care home in Denham. I brought with me over 20 years of experience in a care sector mainly working with elderly and those living with dementia. I am eager to developpe professionally and have completed Level 4 RMA and graduated B&M’s Leadership pathway. In June 2024 opportunity arose to join Bury Lodge Care home as a manager and I felt privileged to be working in an environment that is improving people’s quality of life and building a Home from Home for our residents and their families. We have a well-established team who are providing a high level of care with compassion, patience and dignity.
