Cooksons Court Care Home is airy, bright and spacious. The staff are very friendly, courteous and respectful. They have been extremely caring and thoughtful in supporting my father as he adjusts to moving from his home and being dependent on full-time care.

My husband died recently after just over three years of being nursed and cared for by the wonderful staff at Cooksons Court Care Home. The home itself is lovely and I cannot praise the workers highly enough - all of them, including those behind the scenes who I never actually met but were important for everyone’s well-being. Covid, and lockdowns, made their lives so much more demanding and difficult but I always felt my husband was receiving the best possible care and being treated with dignity and kindness. I too was always met with unfailing friendliness and kindness and with great compassion during his final days. He could not have received better end of life care and I am so grateful to everyone involved.

While the home is all very nice and posh, the cleanliness could have been much better, personal hygiene seemed unimportant and dignity was overlooked. In 5 months my mum had one shower, her hair washed once, only able to clean her teeth twice. Her duvet cover was changed only twice/health and safety seemed very backward. Wasn’t allowed to use bed sides due to “no risk assessment”. Surely the risk is higher for not using them? We were very lucky that the NHS covered our costs but I can say if we had been paying I would have been very disappointed in the way it is run. Most of the staff are good but some less than friendly to the point of complaints made. On discharge, the staff packed up the room before I got the chance to get there and even that seemed a rush, things just thrown in bags with no care or thought.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Cooksons Court. We are shocked and saddened to read your comments, as no concerns were raised during your mother's stay with us, and your mother herself commented that it was 'like living in a hotel' and she wished she could stay longer. The...

My father was admitted to Cooksons Court Care Home for reabling after a stay in hospital.
I cannot praise enough the wonderful, caring staff at Cooksons Court.

Sadly he passed away recently. He was treated with dignity until the end. My mother and I want to thank everyone involved in his care.

Cooksons Court Care Home is a lovely home. The staff are kind and understanding and very helpful. Whilst my husband was in respite it was his birthday and they give him a day to remember with balloons, birthday cake and staff singing him happy birthday. The food is good and the laundry service is exceptional.

Overall we were pleased with the care provided for my mother.
She was admitted for end of life care for two weeks.
The criticism I have is that we were not told that once we were in her room we were not allowed to leave until the end of our visit. Hence, we were spoken to on a few occasions as we left to talk to someone.
On the second day, we were handed a contract to sign, which we duly did and handed back to reception. This contract appeared to get lost as when Mum passed we were asked three times for information which was on the contract. Where did the contract go and who else saw this confidential information.
We were never spoken to by anyone in charge so were unaware of protocol.

The nursing staff and care workers were very good.

I cannot praise Cooksons Court highly enough!
The entire staff have proved to be the most helpful, courteous and cheerful collection of people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Thanks to them, and this wonderful establishment, my whole stay here, which could have been one of the most traumatic periods of my life, has been one of the most pleasurable.

During the first lockdown, my mother was hospitalised 5 times after falls. She went to Cooksons Court and she and the family knew she was safe and cared for. She was cared for right up to the time she passed away on Mother's Day. I was unable to get there in time to say goodbye, but the nurse sat with her and held her hand. She did not die alone but with a very caring human being. I will be forever grateful for the care shown to my mum. Thank you all.

My 100-year-old Mum was a temporary stay in the YDH rehabilitation unit at Cooksons Court. It was the first time that we as a family had had any experience of dealing with care homes. Her stay happened during a period of Covid lockdown and was required as she had fallen and broken her hip. Given the restrictions, all aspects of her care while at Cooksons Court was very good. The staff were kind, thoughtful and very helpful. She was in a much better state when she left so grateful thanks to all involved.

When we had to arrange for our friend to be cared for in a nursing home, the first home that came to mind was Cooksons Court as two of our friends were already there and we were so very impressed by the very high standards of care, cleanliness, and such friendly staff and we were so happy that our friend was allocated a room which was lovely, so bright and welcoming and she had the very, very best care. Thank you staff.
