Finally got mum to agree to a period of respite care last Friday. The precursor was taking her into The Denby for a meeting with the staff and a completely lunch. Ladt night they save her life calling in the paramedics at the first sign of breathlessness and informing me so me and the dogs could nip up and put a smile on her face. The community paramedic was on site almost immediately with the big guns following shortly after. She's in hospital just now in oxygen, hopefully she'll be out in a few days to go back to The Denby for end of life care.

The paramedics were issued with the care plan when they took her to hospital. It was the first time I'd seen it. It was brilliant well organised in a fitting template with sufficient duplication so you didn't need to cross reference between aspects. Massive respect and thanks to Tracy and all the staff

Thank you for sharing this. We're so glad the team acted quickly and kept you informed. Tracy and the team are thinking of your mum, and we hope to welcome her back to The Denby soon. Our thoughts are with you all.

All Round 10/10!!!
Would just like to say a MASSIVE thanks to ALL the team from The Denby at Denby Dale (all levels of the care team/management/administration/entertainment/chefs/laundry/cleaning etc etc etc and this also includes the Finance Dept. at Head office.
My recently deceased mum had been a resident for 3 1/2 Years - 3 1/2 Years of extended enhanced life!
We "shopped around" June/July 2022 for a suitable establishment.
In our opinion The Denby was ideal and we are so pleased we went with that choice, especially when comparing notes with friends whose family are in other homes.
Despite the challenges of the profession we found the staff to be:
Professional
Approachable
Compassionate
Consistent
Caring
Encouraging
Stimulating
Friendly
Its impressive that they have a numerous range of differing activities to engage and actively participate residents, especially the scope of inhouse entertainment and off site trips, which mum "loved.

Would Highly Recommend When Seeking A Care Home.

Reply from HC-One Limited, Administrator at The Denby at Denby Dale

We'd like to take a moment to thank you for leaving such a lovely review of our home. It means so much to our colleagues when they receive this level of praise; they work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver the kindest possible care to our residents. It was a pleasure and an honour to care...

The atmosphere & general provision of activities for residents has improved massively since the current well being team started early this year. I am absolutely amazed by their energy & dedication. They have initiated innumerable new activities and actively encourage residents to participate where appropriate. Each and every resident is known and respected by them resulting in a friendly and caring home with much improved spontaneous interaction. The residents clearly appreciate this. I feel the ladies on wellbeing see their roles as a vocation not merely a job.

When we initially approached The Denby it was for respite care for our mum who we were supporting at home as she was living with dementia. We had lots of anxiety about how she would settle and adjust to a new environment and her happiness. The staff were supportive to us and welcoming to Mum. She was encouraged to join in with the splendid activities and introduced to other residents from the start. She has been treated with respect and friendliness and as an individual.

We have had a positive experience, which has been amazing given the emotions included in making a life-changing decision. We have been able to ask questions and week reassurance at any time. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is welcoming and lots of thought has been put into making our family members comfortable secure and well cared for.

It says I'm not allowed to mention staff names, but they are the ones that make the home! They all show what it is to be a care professional. My Mum and Dad are really happy here and that is a direct result of the people that they are looked after by. In particular, 4 carers are all amazing (and that's just who we see most often) but all of the team are just so caring, all of them. 11/10.

We are happy with the care our mum receives. The Denby is bright, clean and welcoming. Mum enjoys the activities, they keep her stimulated. The staff are friendly and staffing levels seem consistent. Mum is still settling in at The Denby after being somewhere else for 6 years. She sometimes gets worked up. The staff at the Denby are good at keeping her calm and reassured. We would recommend the Denby to anyone looking for a good care home.

From the original contact with The Denby to Mum getting a place at the care home, myself and my family have been very happy with the care that we have all received. At first, Mum found it hard to settle but the staff suggested we come for lunch with her. That really helped her to get used to the dining room and the food was very good. I am always pleased with the staffing levels and the friendliness of the staff. Mum is now settling which puts our minds at rest.

My sister moved from hospital into The Denby. Her move went very smoothly and her needs were assessed and altered immediately to make sure she was properly cared for right from the start. All requests from me were dealt with exactly as I had asked. The admin side of things was made easy to understand - everyone was very keen and helpful at every stage. My first impression of The Denby is that it is a well-run, friendly and efficient care home.

We are always made to feel welcome and if we need to speak to someone there is always someone available. A lot of the staff knew us by name including the member of staff on reception. They understand our relative's needs and treat her with patience and understanding. We know she is safe and well looked after. There are plenty of activities for her to get involved with and trips out.
