Overall Experience

My son and I decided after over a year of caring for my husband with dementia that we needed a break. A fortunate accident led us to approaching Dorking Manor Care Home. Their very friendly reception of us alongside the attractive buidling and surroundings and obvious care of the residents by the working staff, led us to booking a 2 week respite break. My husband seemed very content there and the staff showed great patience coping with his nightime incontinence.

The Home readily agreed to extending his stay by a further week when I became unwell. After the three weeks in the Home we brought him back to the family home and he seems to have settled back here very easily. His memory is virtually non-existent but the few comments he has made suggests he was quite happy to be in the Home. We hope to make use of the Home for further respite breaks.

Dear Anne, It was a very happy mistake for us too, we thoroughly enjoyed taking care of your husband whilst you and your son took a well earned break, he was a delight to care for. We very much look forward to helping you again whenever you are ready. In the meantime we have a regular coffee...

Since my mother-in-law became a resident at Dorking Manor, they have provided excellent service and care, and consequently she adjusted quickly to her new normal. The staff are amazing, and always keep me informed of her day to day. They are always friendly and available if I need to speak to them. The home is spotless, and the food they provide, and various entertainments are first class. I am greatly impressed with their friendly and professional approach to all aspects of my mother-in-law's care.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the home to anyone looking for a caring and comfortable care home for their loved ones.

Visiting my brother for the first time after only five days in his new home. I'm amazed at how settled and happy he appears. He said she's lovely, she's lovely, she's lovely, pointing to the staff and residents. Beautiful bright room and building. Very comfortable and settled. He was excited about walking about showing me things. Well done all!

We visited five or six care homes in the local area and Dorking Manor was by far the best, in our opinion. Hamberley is an established care home provider with multiple UK locations. DM is a brand new building. We liked that it was designed from the outset as a care home - lift access, wide corridors, hand rails, ensuite bathrooms. Excellent range of facilities. Warm and friendly environment. Wide range of activities. Personalised care. Our mother receives a high standard of care and has settled in well.

Dorking Manor Care Home has been a wonderful new home for mum since moving in in December 2024. It ticks all the boxes, and the staff are brilliant with her, whether that is going out for a walk, painting her nails, or having a laugh with her.

The staff are always very welcoming when I come to visit and make an effort to learn names and recognise faces. They know their residents well and treat them as if they are family. The staff are always cheerful and are prepared to spend time talking to residents and visitors. The chef is excellent. The food I had was first rate. They made an effort to ensure the residents are as active as they can be. My place for the future is already booked.

Overall Experience
My mum stayed at Dorking Manor for a 2 week respite stay in late February 2025. Overall she enjoyed staying there very much. It is a brand new home which has only been open for 3 months, and as a result there are not many residents staying there yet. Prices are currently discounted making it very good value.

Dorking Manor is a beautiful building with excellent facilities and a large garden. It is situated in a quiet, lovely area of Dorking, within walking distance of the town centre. The staff are all excellent - friendly, caring and experienced, and Mum was looked after extremely well. The 'homemaker' model adopted by Hamberley Care Home seems to work well, as all staff are engaged in caring for the residents in addition to their other tasks, which results in good social interaction between residents and staff. I have given slightly lower ratings for food and activities, but these will no doubt improve when the home is more fully occupied.

Thank you for your lovely review, we miss mum here but hope she has settled well into Charrington Manor our sister home. We were delighted we could look after her whilst you were waiting for a room to become available. Our new Lifestyle & Wellbeing Lead starts work with us on Monday 17th March and has lots of ideas for how we can entertain our residents which are increasing rapidly.

My friend is well cared for at Dorking Manor. All the staff are attentive and ensure that her day is interesting. She has always been a smart woman, and here, she can get her hair done weekly and have her nails painted, which is so good for her morale. Twice recently, when I visited, there has been live music, and she has clearly enjoyed this. I am welcome to drop in anytime to visit her, as it's clearly important that she regards this as her home now.
