When you first see Eliza Palmer, you will be very impressed with the reception, cafe area as you move into the residential area, which is also very smart, but not air conditioned. Our room was spacious and well appointed everything you need was there.
Most of the staff are very attentive and caring,
occasionally the residents to the alarm bell was a little slow, especially at night time. Food was generally good, perhaps a little beans not a bad thing.

My father whose sight was severally impaired, was in the nursing home for just under a year. His room was large, light, immaculately clean with a lovely view. The nursing staff were responsive and kept me fully informed on all medical issues. The carers were friendly, supportive and kind when looking
after him. He enjoyed all the meals prepared for him and he liked the variety. He enjoyed the live music events arranged by the entertainment coordinator. My father became confined to his room as his health deteriorated and it would have been nice for the home to have someone to spend a little time to chat to room-bound residents.

My mother has been a resident since February 2025. Her overall experience has been very positive.
The staff are all supportive and very friendly.
Nurses have been excellent and very proactive. Having an activities co-ordinator is extremely positive for the residents and makes everyone feel included.

Staff continue to look after my mother very well. She is happy in her lovely room and appreciative of the vegetarian food that is prepared for her. My wife and I would like to thank management and staff for their excellent care.

I moved into the Eliza Palmer Home in January 2024 under the care of the current owner. Within a few months a meeting was called and the residents were told Eliza Palmer had been sold to Kingsley House Trust. We were assured the move would be seamless with improvements. Sadly the care went downhill,
it was rushed, up late to go to activities. Staff were leaving and the care at night was down to 1 carer for 15 residents. Activities have become less as the organiser is carer trained and helps out with the staff shortages. The new kitchen and chefs have improved the meal quality. I love my suite. The view from my window is of the gardens enjoyed by some of the residents. Sadly I do not consider the high rent value for money.

Since taking over Eliza Palmer we have worked quickly to improve the service and made a substantial investment in a new kitchen, which was seen as the biggest priority by residents' families when we arrived. I am glad you have noticed an improvement in the meal quality and appreciate the quality of your bedroom suite. Our management team is always available and keen to listen to any suggestions for ways to improve our service and to take heed of things you believe we should be doing. We have a dedicated and passionate staff team and I must stress we have never been in the position of having only one carer working at night.

Our mother first attended Eliza Palmer at the height of Covid and we were immediately impressed with the duty of care and hygiene levels in the newly built facility. The last few years mum has experienced a cognitive decline, with communication difficult at times. However, she has always been very content
and happy with her carers, the food and room facilities. Kingsley Healthcare have recently acquired the home and I cannot express enough gratitude and admiration for the levels of care and regular communication we have about mum and her condition. The team are first class and we have complete confidence in mum's care and safeguarding.

We love the home and surrounding village and it is great that we can pop mum in a wheelchair and go for a walk to sit in the garden. Mum is very happy at Eliza and joins in the activities when she can. She recently went on a riverboat trip and loved it. Generally, the staff are very good and caring,
especially on a one-to-one basis. It would be nice to have more interaction with residents at weekends from those watching TV and for those who prefer to stay in their rooms. It seems they occasionally lack company. The food whilst satisfactory at the moment could be improved, however we understand moves are underway to ensure food is cooked fresh on the premises. The nursery staff are excellent and alert us promptly if mum's health or medical needs change.

I attended the monthly Residents and Relatives Coffee and Chat morning today. It is conducted by the Care Home Manager and her Deputy and it is our opportunity to ask questions, solve any problems and generally build on relationships.
I consider this to be an extremely good event carried out in a very
happy and friendly environment.

My husband became a resident of the Eliza Palmer Hub in September of this year.
The care he has received has been outstanding and I mean outstanding.
After 3 months of residency, I feel so comfortable and reassured knowing that he is receiving the best possible care.
The staff are so caring to me
as well as my husband and I visit at all sorts of times but the greeting is always the same.
Warm and welcoming.
I highly recommend you visit and decide for yourselves.

My vision for Eliza Palmer is to empower our team to continue delivering outstanding care, ensuring that every resident feels happy, valued, and achieves positive outcomes. I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1990 and have worked in a variety of acute care settings. I have spent several years working as a Nurse Practitioner, and have worked at Eliza Palmer Care Home for 6 years, now I have progressed to Deputy Manager here. After a career in Hospitality and catering, I joined the care sector during the challenging times of COVID in 2020. I realised that I really enjoyed being a carer and continued until joining Kingsley Healthcare in 2024 as activities coordinator, a role that I love. I feel that I make a real difference to the daily lives of our residents through planning regular activities as well as spending time with them on a one-to-one basis. Getting to know the residents is a delight, and I feel it is important to include them in the planning of our weekly activity programmes as well as consulting them on matters of the home through our resident representatives.


Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my 2 grown-up sons and friends. Cooking is a passion of mine, which is reflected in our regular cookery club activities. I also enjoy quizzing and keeping fit, also reflected in our activities.
