Amazing facilities. Great, friendly and effective staff. Superb support for my father in his last weeks of life, and my mother is safe and well cared for if not a little unhappy (not due to anything related to Goldwell or staff!). Staff are improving at ensuring Mum is stimulated, encouraged to be active and is supported during meals. A lovely place.

We have been extremely happy with all the care, compassion and overall efficiency of Goldwell Manor, over the last 10 months.
My mother moved into Goldwell Manor in July 2023 after being discharged from hospital, recovering from pneumonia and with 2 broken legs.
The care given by the home was exemplary. The caring way my mum was integrated into her new home was amazing.
Our family celebrated Mum's 100th birthday at the home and they certainly helped to make the day a very happy and memorable occasion. Mum is now very settled and happy at Goldwell Manor.

We can now rest assured that she is looked after with all the care and attention we could possibly ask for.

It was an honour to host Mum's 100th birthday at Goldwell Manor and we will continue to strive to offer a high standard of person-centred care. We thoroughly appreciate your feedback.

I have visited a number of times in the last year and each time I have been very impressed with the whole experience. Fabulous first impressions. Wonderful environment beautifully decorated to a very high standard and beautifully furnished. Like a five-star hotel. High standard cleanliness. No odours! Staff always interacting with residents. Respectful and professional/friendly. I once asked for my friend's cup of tea to be reheated as gone cold. The staff offered to make a fresh one!

Great activities. Residents clean, well-dressed, happy.

The general manager could not have been more attentive or sympathetic to the needs of both our mum and our family in managing the move into Goldwell Manor. We are really grateful to the general manager and the care manager for their help, advice, and patience. Staff have been so kind and considerate in helping Mum with this adjustment. Her cosy room has touches of home, and there is a lovely, friendly atmosphere in the light and pleasant third floor sitting room. While familiarisation to a new environment for a person with dementia takes time, Mum is enjoying the meals, and the entertainment programme. My sister's dog is a regular and welcome visitor, and we are glad to be included in the community feel at Goldwell Manor. Thank you to all the friendly and welcoming staff.

We as a family are more than happy with Mum's care, being new with the happenings in a care home we didn't know what to expect, you have been very accommodating with all our questions and have been very kind to our mum especially as she didn't want to go into a care home, she has in our opinion got better at walking with the aid of a walker. We can't say Mum is happy yet but we hope she will settle in and call it home. All the staff are a credit to the care home.

Fantastic care and service within an amazing environment. All the staff are friendly and very kind. They have gone above and beyond in making sure my grandad is comfortable and happy. They have taken extra care to ensure he gets the right food and are helping him to move out of his bed into a chair. I would highly recommend this home!

Goldwell Manor is not only aesthetically beautiful, welcoming and clean but every member of the team have been absolutely fantastic in caring for my parents. From the front of house, catering, lifestyle, maintenance, cleaning and the wonderful care team. The fact that everyone knows us as a family and as individuals and truly cares makes a huge difference. I could name everyone individually and thank them for how they go over and above not only for my family but for us visiting (even giving biscuits to my parent's visiting dog and so many little touches) and being in and around Goldwell regularly, it’s not a one-off, it’s how it always is. I cannot recommend and thank everyone enough for what they do on a daily basis-Goldwell really is the best!

The home is like a 5* hotel - very large room and very clean. The communal areas are particularly good.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and, most importantly, very gentle and caring with my father.

In my previous job as a fire inspector, I visited many care homes - Goldwell Manor is the best by far!

Having transferred my mum from a rehabilitation hospital last week my mum has been warmly welcomed at Goldwell Manor. As my mum is a new resident she is still settling in. All the staff have been very kind and understanding at what has been a difficult time for my mum and family. It's a lovely place to visit, welcomed with a warm smile.

Goldwell Manor is the only care home we are happy for my Mum to stay in. Always welcomed with a warm and friendly team of staff. Beautiful home, fantastic decor. The rooms are amazing and the ensuite shower room is very good. Good food and plenty of activities. Mum loves it in here. Thank you to the manager and her staff for taking Mum again for respite care at such short notice. Would definitely recommend.

As a family, we could not be more delighted with the level of care, concern and cleanliness that this facility provides. It is a pleasure to visit Mum and enjoy spending time in the lovely lounge areas. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Any concerns we had putting Mum into a care home were completely unfounded with this one. As a loving family we only wish all care homes were the standard of this one.

After visiting several care homes Goldwell Manor was the only one I was happy for my husband to stay in. He was very warmly welcomed on arrival by management and staff. It's early days yet for him, but hopefully he will settle and be happy. I feel he is being very well looked after.

After working forty years in adult social care and being very despondent about the standards in residential care, we have hit the jackpot with Goldwell Manor. There is nothing I can fault. There are always staff in the communal areas tending to residents and anticipating needs. The choice of food is amazing. My mother has always deserved the best care and Goldwell provides it. The general manager is an excellent leader who leads by example and knows all her residents. Keep it up Goldwell, you are simply the best!

Absolutely amazing home. My grandad came here after finding it difficult to cope at home. When he arrived, he thought he was in a five-star hotel because of the beautiful decor. The staff immediately made my grandad feel at home and welcome, we knew he was in safe hands!

Unfortunately, my grandad took a turn for the worse and was put on end-of-life while at the hospital. The home where amazing in rehabilitating my grandad back to the home and catered to his more advanced needs. During the last two weeks of his life, all the family were allowed to be at the home constantly and we were extremely well looked after from food to drinks and constant check-in from all the staff. The dignity and respect my grandad received even in his final few hours was outstanding. We cannot thank the staff enough for making my grandad's final weeks as special as they were. Goldwell Manor will always have a special place in our hearts.

Looking around and choosing a care home for my mum highlighted huge differences between each one. I wanted her to live somewhere I could live myself. Goldwell Manor really stood out. Firstly the decor is impressive as you walk in and everywhere feels really clean and new. The room is lovely with a good ensuite shower room. The staff are amazing and I feel confident she is being well looked after. We are kept up to date with any health issues. The entertainment manager works hard to provide varied activities which my mum has participated in and enjoyed such as quizzes and games, gardening, book club, singers etc. I particularly like the fact that residents are regularly asked for their opinions on the activities and also the food choices and they are encouraged to offer new suggestions to tailor their stay to their interests. The manager knows everyone personally and provides that personal touch, so I feel my mum is in safe hands. I would not hesitate to recommend Goldwell Manor.

My Mum and Dad stayed in Goldwell Manor for respite for almost 3 weeks. They both felt that it was like a 5 star hotel. The decor, cleanliness and new facilities were excellent. The food and dining areas were excellent. My Dad liked to have a beer some afternoons which they got him from the beautiful bar area downstairs. They felt that there could have been a few more activities, it was very quiet on some afternoons. However, Mum went to the gardening club one afternoon and both of them played bingo.

My parents felt that all the staff were very kind, caring and professional from the front of house staff, the maintenance man, the housekeepers and the carers. We also felt that all the staff were lovely. The manager runs an excellent home and should be very proud. There were only a couple of issues that were dealt with promptly and communicated to the family. We would not hesitate to place them in Goldwell Manor again in the future and would highly recommend this beautiful home.

My husband had respite care for a week. Unfortunately, after four days my husband had a nasty fall and was admitted to the hospital. I had previously been to look at Goldwell Manor and felt comfortable that it was right for my husband, the staff on arrival were welcoming and my husband's room looked great. However, my opinion has changed a little since my husband's fall as no one from Goldwell Manor has had the decency or compassion to contact me to see how my husband is. You have a fabulous dementia home but communication skills are lacking. I have been a nurse for over 40 years and I would not dream of not following up after an incident to ensure all was well or at least to show I cared.

Reply from Karen Busby, General Manager at Goldwell Manor

Welcome to Goldwell Manor!

I started my career working in the hotel industry at every level, however, for the past 25 years I have worked within the care industry. I worked in various roles starting as a Care Assistant, Kitchen Manager to eventually a Registered Manager. In doing these roles, my passion grew for all areas within the care industry as each is equally crucial to the everyday lives of our residents. Through my time working in the care industry I also went on the journey of caring for my mother when she was diagnosed with dementia, until her end of life. This has enabled me to share my knowledge and support a team in providing quality well-being for every individual.
