Beautiful home with lovely rooms and finishes. Very much a home away from home. Staff are very skilled and nothing is too much trouble. They coped with changing needs and tried to do their utmost to be helpful. The staff dealt with medical issues proactively and thoroughly and communication was timely
and effective. At the palliative stage, they were sensitive and very caring. My mum was always beautifully dressed and her personal care was excellent. The home was very clean and tidy.
Reply from Lynn Cumming, Manager at Hermitage HouseThank you so much for your kind review. Your mum was an absolute pleasure to look after, with a smile that lit up the room. We were lucky to have her here.

My father has been in Hermitage House for nearly 6 months and it was the best decision we have ever made. He has been happy and content from the day he arrived from down south and could not have been made to feel more welcome. The care he has received from all members of staff is second to none and
nothing is too much trouble. The minute you walk into Hermitage House you feel a warm and homely atmosphere, the handyman putting up pictures, and being able to bring two bookcase cabinets from home my father requested has made my father's room really feel his own.
I could not recommend highly enough this care home.
Reply from Lynn Cumming, Manager at Hermitage HouseThanks very much for your very kind review, your Dad is a delight to care for.

What can I say apart from delighted at the care my aunt has received from staff at Morar Living (Hermitage House). Every one of them have been lovely, kind and caring. They show a genuine interest in her wellbeing. After a horrible experience at her last care home, where she was neglected and ignored,
it has brought relief to us all that she finally is getting her dignity back. The review isn't long enough to thank you all for a wonderful place to live.
Reply from Lynn Cumming, Manager at Hermitage HouseThanks very much for your kind review, we are so pleased to be able to make a difference. It's a pleasure looking after your aunt.

I cannot recommend highly enough!
Having had to make the very difficult decision to placing Mum in a nursing home, the Management team at Hermitage House and the care team couldn't have made the transition any easier. The personal touches from the girls, the genuine care shown, regular updates given
have been invaluable. The whole team are lovely, friendly and approachable, nothing is too much trouble!
Beautiful rooms, super modern decor with all the up to date equipment required in a central location is perfect.
Reply from Lynn Cumming, Manager at Hermitage HouseLindsey thanks so much for your kind review. It's so nice to hear and I will be sure to pass this lovely feedback onto all the staff.

The care from all staff at Hermitage House is exemplary and the ambience, food, and environment are all outstanding. Nurses and Carers update an App many times a day, which as next of kin we are to able view the care notes. You may expect to only see medical updates, however, also included, for example,
"Settled in room with feet up, a cup of tea, slice of cake and reading his newspaper. Relaxed and content today." Both my parents are residents and they appreciated chef visiting to discuss their favourite dishes. The staff member looking after Maintenance has helped to hang numerous pictures in their rooms, along with tune TVs. Being located beside a park gives an opportunity for a lovely short walk.
Reply from Lynn, Manager at Hermitage HouseThanks so much for your excellent review. Staff really appreciate this, and it's so nice to read. It makes our jobs so worthwhile. It's a pleasure to look after both your parents.

My Gran has been in hermitage house for 5 weeks and the carers and nursing staff have been absolutely incredible! From getting to know Gran and updating us on the smallest of things to settle your mind! My gran was unsure about going into a care home and now she sees it as her own. From the handyman
to the manager, the staff are perfect! The handyman goes above and beyond to make the residents feel like their rooms are their own! They have an app that updates you on their care plan and the rooms and cleanliness are 5 stars, feels more like a hotel than a nursing home!
Reply from Lynn, Manager at Hermitage HouseHi thanks so much for taking the time to give us this lovely feedback its really nice to hear that you are happy with the care your gran is receiving. I will pass this over to the team who will really appreciate this. Thanks again Lynn

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.819)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.819) out of 10 for Hermitage House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.994 for Hermitage House is calculated as follows: ( (155 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.994
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hermitage House is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
