Overall Experience
My wife recently had a respite stay at Hilltop Lodge. We were apprehensive as she has not stayed in a care home before. From arrival at the home we received all the reassurance we needed. Whilst unpacking staff popped into her room to say hello and made us feel so welcome. Activity staff came in to give her a calandar of activities that were available and soon made a personalised name plate for her door. She has said all staff were respectful and very caring enjoyed all her meals, especially the Sunday lunches.

Most of all she has said she felt safe!

I have nothing but praise for Hilltop Lodge since my mum moved there several months ago. The staff genuinely care about their residents and the facilities are always clean and well maintained with communal areas welcoming and nicely decorated. The management team are both professional and considerate and always there to help with any queries. My mum has flourished due to the many and varied activities and events arranged by a dedicated team who go above and beyond to ensure that residents are stimulated and entertained.

My mum has Alzheimer's, in June she had to move care homes due to an increase in her needs. Hilltop Lodge is the home we chose for her.
At the beginning of October my mum began to refuse food and drink, this is a regular pattern and as a result becomes unwell quickly with an infection. We ( the family) have seen this many times now and have informed Hilltop of this pattern. On this particular occasion she became seriously ill very quickly. The staff all acted in my mums best interest. They were kind and attentive to both my mum ensuring she was comfortable and constantly checking on her for further signs of deterioration. Thankfully the Dr prescribed antibiotics and mum pulled through.
Staff on duty that particular night, took time out to listen and talk to me as I was upset and expecting the worst. Even though I know how busy the staff are, not once did I feel like it was a inconvenience to them to take time out to let me unload my fears.

Thank you.

My 94 year old father was admitted to Hilltop Lodge following a deterioration in his general health and mobility. From the moment he went through the door he and the rest of our family were made so welcome by every member of staff we met on the way to his lovely room.
All the staff were kind and caring and a special shout out to Ralph who was kind enough to assist my Dad to have a short time in the garden enjoying the sunshine with his family.

The nurses Tracey, Diane and Gloria all went above and beyond to make sure my Dad was kept comfortable until he passed away peacefully and for that we will always be so grateful.

My mother has been a resident since Dec 2024 when she moved from a different care home, where she was before she cried all the time and was very withdrawn. I cannot thank everyone at Hilltop Lodhe enough for changing my mum's life. She is like a new woman and can now enjoy her time with me and her grandchildren. The staff obviously know how to care for her & her dementia needs, which I'm sure can be challenging at times. The management are always welcoming and ready to chat at any time, which I appreciate.

Our mother has been a resident at Hilltop Lodge for over 5 years. She settled really well from the start thanks to the wonderful care she received. The staff are truly lovely, kind and caring. Over time they have become more like friends and it is a testament to the home that the majority of staff have worked here quite a few years.
There is a weekly on site hairdresser, a cinema room and a coffee shop which opens onto a secure garden with plenty of daily entertainment to keep the residents stimulated. Throughout the year they celebrate events and holidays with music and singing. The staff are very approachable and any problems are sorted out straight away.

A care home is only as good as the staff working there and the staff here certainly have proved that!

My husband has been a resident at Hilltop Lodge for the last 3 months, and I am highly delighted with the care he receives. The staff are wonderful, they show so much kindness and compassion to all the residents. Nothing is too much trouble. The home itself is immaculately clean and tidy. An activities co-ordinator is on-site most days, so there is always something going on to keep the residents stimulated. It has such a nice, friendly atmosphere. Finally, some credit must go to management for choosing the right staff.

Our mother was allocated a place at Hilltop and took up residence in August 2024. Before being admitted to Hilltop Mum was visited by the Management team and built a positive relationship from the start. I had visited 6 care homes within a 6-mile radius before settling on Hilltop and our first impression has proved 100% accurate that this is the best care home by far in the area.

One of the real positives is the flexibility of the team to respond to the individual needs of the resident and have consistently reacted to feedback given by myself and my brother (both regular visitors). The nursing and general care is responsive and consistent as well as being applied with a sensitive and warm approach. You can see that a real plan exists for Hilltop particularly evident with regular activities designed and facilitated by two excellent ladies add to this the weekly facility of a hairdresser and you can see the residents feel part of a community. Mum has settled well.

I cannot rate this home and all its staff from the top to the bottom highly enough and would give them 10 stars if I could. My mum resided in Hilltop Lodge for 13 years and recently passed away. The care she received was exemplary and when she was at end of life she was still treated with dignity, respectfully and they spoke to her like a well-loved Grandma. Her family have also been well treated and as we spent so much time there I felt like many of us became more than carer/family and more like friends.

My mum has really settled in well, the staff are brilliant with all the residents and so kind and caring. The activities are good from what I have seen and the outside area is lovely to sit out on nice days. The food is excellent and there is always plenty. I would love to see more live updates and videos on the social media page of the daily activities so I can see what Mum is doing each day when I am not there and that she is enjoying herself. It would be lovely to see this.

My dad initially went to Hilltop Lodge for a local authority assessment but it was always our hope that having visited the home before he went to stay, that he would spend the last months of his life there. We could not dare have hoped for such a kind and caring place for our loved ones. From my first interaction with the manager to our final goodbye they were professional and consistently went above and beyond. My dad's spiritual needs were met at the monthly church service held at the home, he had two trips out of the home to a theatre and a friendship lunch. Everyone from the cleaners, carers, nurses, admin staff, activity coordinators, and managers were approachable and kind. I felt that they cared for him as if he were a member of their family.

Thank you.

Our mum was admitted to Hilltop Lodge following a stay in the hospital for assessment for permanent care. We couldn’t be happier with the facilities and high standards of care offered.
Hilltop Lodge is excellent, with a modern environment that is bright and well-maintained.
Every single employee has exceeded our expectations, they are friendly, kind, professional, and knowledgeable.
Care is of the highest standard with attention to personalized, holistic nursing. Resident safety is paramount and we have seen staff interacting with residents constantly in both the sitting rooms and individual bedrooms.
Staff regularly sit with the residents ensuring supervision for prolonged periods.
The food is superb, well presented, and nutritious and the friendly cook offers a wide variety of meals and caters to the individual needs of our very faddy mum!

Senior clinical managers are highly visible, involved in care delivery, and accessible on a very regular basis to families.

Hilltop Lodge is a lovely place. Mum settled in well after being referred for assessment. She was made very welcome when she arrived and has made friends. Her room, albeit small, is clean, as is the rest of the home.
The staff are really nice and helpful and have taken note of any concerns,
Lots of activities and events for the residents to take part in.

Whilst only been resident for a short time, Mum has been happy and settled here, but we will obviously continue to review this.

My experience at Hilltop Lodge will be remembered with fondness and gratitude forever.
The standard and love and care they gave both my aunty and her relatives were of such a high standard it’s really difficult to explain properly.
I know if I was to be ill ever and not with my loving family there has been no better place than Hilltop Lodge that I’ve seen functioning like that during that period I visited my lovely aunt and I’d be happy that I was placed there
The dignity they gave her was wonderful
