Hilltop Lodge is situated on a leafy residential street just outside Chapeltown, Sheffield. It provides residential, nursing, respite, dementia and palliative care for up to 61 residents.

The home was refurbished in November 2019 and includes en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant-style dining room and spacious lounge. Meals are nutritionally balanced and prepared in the home’s kitchen. Individual dietary needs are catered for.

Group activities are encouraged, with the home boasting a cinema, hair salon, garden room and café. Each individual can also choose one-to-one activities with the help of a dedicated activities coordinator. There is easy access to bus routes and a railway station.

Our mother has been a resident at Hilltop Lodge for over 5 years. She settled really well from the start thanks to the wonderful care she received. The staff are truly lovely, kind and caring. Over time they have become more like friends and it is a testament to the home that the majority of staff have
worked here quite a few years.
There is a weekly on site hairdresser, a cinema room and a coffee shop which opens onto a secure garden with plenty of daily entertainment to keep the residents stimulated. Throughout the year they celebrate events and holidays with music and singing. The staff are very approachable and any problems are sorted out straight away.
A care home is only as good as the staff working there and the staff here certainly have proved that!

My husband has been a resident at Hilltop Lodge for the last 3 months, and I am highly delighted with the care he receives. The staff are wonderful, they show so much kindness and compassion to all the residents. Nothing is too much trouble. The home itself is immaculately clean and tidy. An activities
co-ordinator is on-site most days, so there is always something going on to keep the residents stimulated. It has such a nice, friendly atmosphere. Finally, some credit must go to management for choosing the right staff.

Our mother was allocated a place at Hilltop and took up residence in August 2024. Before being admitted to Hilltop Mum was visited by the Management team and built a positive relationship from the start. I had visited 6 care homes within a 6-mile radius before settling on Hilltop and our first impression
has proved 100% accurate that this is the best care home by far in the area.


One of the real positives is the flexibility of the team to respond to the individual needs of the resident and have consistently reacted to feedback given by myself and my brother (both regular visitors). The nursing and general care is responsive and consistent as well as being applied with a sensitive and warm approach. You can see that a real plan exists for Hilltop particularly evident with regular activities designed and facilitated by two excellent ladies add to this the weekly facility of a hairdresser and you can see the residents feel part of a community. Mum has settled well.

I cannot rate this home and all its staff from the top to the bottom highly enough and would give them 10 stars if I could. My mum resided in Hilltop Lodge for 13 years and recently passed away. The care she received was exemplary and when she was at end of life she was still treated with dignity, respectfully
and they spoke to her like a well-loved Grandma. Her family have also been well treated and as we spent so much time there I felt like many of us became more than carer/family and more like friends.

My mum has really settled in well, the staff are brilliant with all the residents and so kind and caring. The activities are good from what I have seen and the outside area is lovely to sit out on nice days. The food is excellent and there is always plenty. I would love to see more live updates and
videos on the social media page of the daily activities so I can see what Mum is doing each day when I am not there and that she is enjoying herself. It would be lovely to see this.

My dad initially went to Hilltop Lodge for a local authority assessment but it was always our hope that having visited the home before he went to stay, that he would spend the last months of his life there. We could not dare have hoped for such a kind and caring place for our loved ones. From my first
interaction with the manager to our final goodbye they were professional and consistently went above and beyond. My dad's spiritual needs were met at the monthly church service held at the home, he had two trips out of the home to a theatre and a friendship lunch. Everyone from the cleaners, carers, nurses, admin staff, activity coordinators, and managers were approachable and kind. I felt that they cared for him as if he were a member of their family.

Our mum was admitted to Hilltop Lodge following a stay in the hospital for assessment for permanent care. We couldn’t be happier with the facilities and high standards of care offered.
Hilltop Lodge is excellent, with a modern environment that is bright and well-maintained.
Every single employee has
exceeded our expectations, they are friendly, kind, professional, and knowledgeable.
Care is of the highest standard with attention to personalized, holistic nursing. Resident safety is paramount and we have seen staff interacting with residents constantly in both the sitting rooms and individual bedrooms.
Staff regularly sit with the residents ensuring supervision for prolonged periods.
The food is superb, well presented, and nutritious and the friendly cook offers a wide variety of meals and caters to the individual needs of our very faddy mum!
Senior clinical managers are highly visible, involved in care delivery, and accessible on a very regular basis to families.

Hill Top Lodge is a very good care home. It is very clean, all the staff are very friendly, making you feel at home. All staff are nice and helpful as well as the laundry and kitchen staff and cleaners, the laundry girls plus another lady are always looking for my dad's lost slippers.
The management
are really good and the running of the home has improved since he first went in.

Since the new management, Hilltop Lodge is a lovely care home. My dad has been here for three years now, and it is the best to has ever been. All the staff are lovely, and make it a lovely, cosy, friendly home for our loved ones. I cannot fault anything. Lovely to have such friendly faces to greet us

Hilltop Lodge is a lovely place. Mum settled in well after being referred for assessment. She was made very welcome when she arrived and has made friends. Her room, albeit small, is clean, as is the rest of the home.
The staff are really nice and helpful and have taken note of any concerns,
Lots
of activities and events for the residents to take part in.
Whilst only been resident for a short time, Mum has been happy and settled here, but we will obviously continue to review this.

My experience at Hilltop Lodge will be remembered with fondness and gratitude forever.
The standard and love and care they gave both my aunty and her relatives were of such a high standard it’s really difficult to explain properly.
I know if I was to be ill ever and not with my loving family there
has been no better place than Hilltop Lodge that I’ve seen functioning like that during that period I visited my lovely aunt and I’d be happy that I was placed there
The dignity they gave her was wonderful

Dad was transferred to Hilltop Lodge from hospital with complex needs. The care and support he has received has been excellent. We are very happy and relieved he is at Hilltop Lodge and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

My sister was placed into Hilltop Lodge after an extensive hospital stay to be assessed for ongoing care. Having had no experience or dealing with care homes I was given a lot of useful information and help with make me make the decision to keep my sister at Hilltop Lodge rather than move her somewhere
else as she had become used to the staff.

Mum was transferred to Hilltop Lodge directly from the hospital for an assessment period. Her room is bright and sunny with a modern ensuite bathroom. My mum has been unable to access any facilities, but I have seen the lounge and dining room which are bright and airy. Individual staff are friendly
and helpful and always willing to help or answer questions.

A big thank you to all staff and management at Hilltop Lodge. When my dad passed away at Christmas 2021 we were very worried that our mum wouldn't get over it as they had been together for over 60 years.
She still misses him but thanks to the care and attention she has received from Hilltop Lodge
including social activities she has found a new motivation and is very happy in her new life. She constantly mentions how lucky she feels to be where she is. Thanks again.

Entrusting others with the care of a loved one is certainly no easy decision, but we would have no hesitation in recommending Hilltop Lodge to others requiring its services.
Hilltop Lodge has a relaxed and homely atmosphere, and the staff are consistently friendly, approachable and genuinely compassionate,
even when faced with challenging behaviours from some of the residents. The staff are hardworking, dedicated and passionate about their work.
The standard of care is consistently high, and residents are treated with respect and dignity.
In addition to supporting Dad, the staff have supported the wider family, showing understanding, sympathy and genuine care, particularly during a difficult two weeks whilst Dad was receiving end of life care.
The food is home-cooked and plentiful, and the home modern and well maintained with excellent facilities.
