Overall Experience
My Mum was brought back from Spain after my father died and went straight into Hutton Manor. She was suffering from advanced dementia and doubly incontinent.

All the staff and carers at Hutton Manor were extremely helpful with the whole experience of bringing her back and getting her settled. This was all during the pandemic and I was not allowed to visit for the first 2 weeks, however I spoke to the staff and Mum every day. They were really accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them. Mum was on end of life care at the end of 2021, and I couldn't be more grateful to Hutton Manor for everything they did for Mum. They allowed me to visit at any time of the day and night to see her, they provided all the PPE that I needed. Not only was everyone so kind and caring to Mum they were also the same to me and my family. Despite this being a care home and the staff being carers; they actually went way above and beyond what they are employed to do. I can't praise them highly enough.

My Nana has been at Hutton Manor for a few years now and I haven't been able to visit her for a while until a few weeks ago. I was lovely to see her settled and looked after so well. I live a distance away so it's difficult to factor that in with lockdowns.

I am very happy with my room here and all the staff are very friendly. They ask me to join in things even if I don't want to. My room is lovely and overlooks the grounds also. Meals are very varied and we do get a choice of what we would like to eat.

We moved Mum to Hutton Manor to be near us when it was apparent her decline was accelerating. Even with the limitations imposed by Covid-19, we were so glad we did so. Every aspect of her care was exemplary. She was treated with kindness and dignity, and every effort was made to help her make the most of the facilities there. She thought she was in 'a beautiful hotel'! I was so glad she was there and not in the hospital. The respect and kindness shown to both Mum and myself during her last days will not be forgotten.

Reply from Helen Fowler, Home Manager at Hutton Manor

Hi Susan, thank you so much for these lovely words. It was an absolute honour to meet your mum and look after her. The staff would like to thank you for all the lovely gifts of chocolate you sent them, that was very kind. We wish your family all the best for the future.

After visiting several care homes for my parents, I can say with confidence, Hutton Mannor outshines every other home I visited. All the staff are so lovely and friendly. Hopefully, when Covid restriction is relaxed, visiting will be easier.

All in all, 5-stars.

I would not recommend this care home to anyone who’s relative has challenging dementia. Dad was asked to leave this home after three days, due to their negligence. They constantly phoned me with negative comments about my dad, which most were untrue. The manager refused to take calls from me, instead delegated her deputy who was very kind. It is a lovely looking home but in my opinion, they are not equipped to look after anyone who has challenging behaviour. I got zero support from them at what was the most upsetting time possible for us, as a family. Research this home and management as thoroughly as you can before you choose to place your loved one with them.

Reply from Helen Fowler, Manager at Hutton Manor

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the behaviours presented on admission and throughout it was very clear a more specialised environment was required for your father. Ensuring the wellbeing of all residents is paramount and I have a duty of care to ensure all residents and staff are safe. I...

It is always a sad and worrying time when you have to make the decision to put a loved one into care. Even more so as the day after my Mum went in, we went straight into lockdown. The staff at Hutton Manor are amazing. They are supportive of any concerns and went above and beyond to let us see Mum at a distance during the lockdown. We saw Mum twice through the patio and spoke over the phone. Mum always looked settled and happy when we saw her on the web site photos. Because of Mum's Alzheimer's / Dementia, she does not fully understand why we can't see her but it seems the staff are constantly reminding Mum of the situation. They have put on some lovely activities throughout this difficult time and I praise them highly for that. I am looking forward to the time I can see Mum properly again to give her a hug, as I went from seeing her every day to just those couple of distant visits. If it meant it kept the residents and staff safe it was worth it. Such a lovely place I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I visited by way of seeing my friend. I was greeted by the manager who directed me to her. I came into the lounge. What a lovely space. this was, decorated in cream and turquoise. Everything was very tasteful. Through an archway, it leads you into an area to have a drink from a bar. I was invited to the dining room after being invited to stay for lunch. The tables were set with white covers and napkins and set for starter, main course and sweet. It was like a five-star hotel what I saw. The staff was attentive. I wish I could have a place there.

My father was one of the first temporary residents to go into the oh so beautiful Hutton Manor. In his own words, he said it was unfortunate that he was only in for four weeks respite. He loved everything about his stay and wishes to go back in permanently at a later date. The home and staff are just wonderful. Would most certainly recommend.

Yesterday I visited my friend and it was lovely to see my friend, all the residents and staff involved in such a positive activity. Music and memories, I think it was called.
All the staff and the manager were really involved and attentive, encouraging everyone to get involved, singalong and play musical instruments.

I would really recommend this beautiful home with such caring staff, to anyone looking in the Pudsey/Calverly area of West Yorkshire.

My parents are currently staying at Hutton Manor. It’s their first time in a care home and they didn’t have the chance to visit before their stay, so were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It is beautifully decorated, all the rooms are light airy and very comfortably furnished. The staff have been wonderful providing care, support and reassurance to my parents to help them settle. It feels very personal and they are doing everything they can to help them feel at home. They have also been very kind to me too and I am made to feel very welcome when I visit. My parents are enjoying the food, love their rooms, they speak highly of the staff and feel very spoilt in the luxurious surroundings. They have only been there a short time but based on their experience so far I can highly recommend Hutton Manor.
