When mum decided to live at Riverside St Marys, we were immediately impressed with the warm welcome from the staff and this has continued all year. Adel square recently cared for my in laws for a short convalescence period. The staff were warm and welcoming and extremely professional. They received exceptional care throughout their stay from all the staff and the surroundings are beautiful. Brand new and very well thought out. I'd have no hesitation in using this home again when needed.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at Adel Square Care Home

My mum moved into St Mary's in May 2026. She has settled well & the staff are very caring & my mum is well looked after.
I & the family can visit at any time & are always greeted by cheerful staff. My mum was able to bring furniture from her home- like her ruse & recliner chair & lots of pictures etc.

I am very happy with the care home.

My wife has been in this care home for over 6 months. Her dementia has been a challenge to cope with, but the staff have given her professional care, respect, security and done everything possible to help her enjoy her time in the home. I have to give special mention to Kizzy, who has led the dementia team brilliantly. She has to be so proud of the work of all the hard-working members of her team.
The home is kept so clean and tidy thanks to the constant attention of the housekeeping staff. The overall appearance and maintenance of the building is exceptional and provides a calm and open atmosphere for all residents and visitors.
All this is made possible by the professional management group, Laura, Sam, Sophie and Amanda.

I am so grateful to all the staff of this care home and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at St Mary's Riverside

Thank you for such generous words and for the recommendation. We're glad the team has helped your wife feel secure, respected and able to enjoy her time with us. The St Mary's Riverside team will be so proud to read this, we'll make sure your thanks reach them all.

Review of Adel Square Care Home from V S (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mum has been a resident now at Adel Square for nearly a month. I have been really impressed with her care so far. The management team went above and beyond in supporting us and getting mum moved in from respite in york, into Adel square nearer to me in leeds. Everyone of the team interact with the residents, they know them well and keep them entertained. Mum has settled in really well and has enjoyed the company of the staff and all the other residents and says the food is very nice to. The residents all look well cared for and happy. The home itself is brand new and spotless, nicely decorated and has a lovely reception area/outdoor area were i can enjoy a coffee with my mum when i visit. Mums room is lovely and light and we have been able to personalise it with family pictures to make it feel like home. Really glad i found this care home and feel relieved that my mum is being well cared for, after what has been a worrying time.

Reply from Maxwell Andrews, Marketing Lead at Adel Square Care Home

Thank you for such a lovely, detailed review. We're delighted your mum has settled in so well at Adel Square and that the move from York went smoothly for you all. It's wonderful to hear she's enjoying the company, the food and her own personalised room. We'll pass on your thanks to the whole team.

Review of Castle Grange from J R (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We contacted social services and raised a safe guarding order for my dad who was neglected at Castle Grange in Scarborough. There are staff members that do a great job at caring for residents, so this review isn't to undermine them. But the flaws in management and training of staff meant that my dad didn't have consisted carers that understood his needs. This improved when we complained but his care was only sufficient when certain staff members were present (to whom we are grateful for) Dad was left in the same nappy for over 2 days on multiple occasions. He had poo on his hands when eating and we found bruising round his wrists consistent with being grabbed. He was often found stinking of urine. We as a family had to step in and do his personal care on mulitple occasions. Some weeks we were the only ones that could do it. He is now at another home where the difference is remarkable and highlights further, the inadequacies at CG. Dad is now happy, stimulated and well looked after.

Review of St Marys Chanterlands Care Home from Amanda C (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum was a resident at this care home for four weeks. During her stay, our family had to raise concerns on several occasions regarding the standard of her care.
My mum was RIG-fed, and we were very concerned about the cleanliness of the feeding equipment. On more than one occasion, the cups used with her feeds appeared dirty and had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard. We also noticed that her room was not cleaned regularly, with bins often left full for extended periods.
These issues caused our family considerable concern, particularly as my mum was vulnerable and relied on staff for all aspects of her care. We felt that our concerns should not have needed to be raised repeatedly.
Sadly, my mum has since passed away. However, had these problems continued, we would have seriously considered requesting a move to another care home.

It has taken me some time to write this review because the experience was upsetting for our family. I hope this feedback is taken seriously.

From my initial calls with Aneetha, Amanda's assessment of mum, and the wonderful warm welcome mum received from them, and Vicky, on her arrival, the support and care has been outstanding.
Having suffered significantly from anxiety, mum settled in immediately in its beautiful surroundings, and staff have continued to provide excellent care and support, keeping me updated whenever needed, which has been an added source of comfort.

A Huge Thank you to everyone

Lovely care home. My mother recently had two weeks respite care here and was treated very kindly by all the staff. She enjoyed the food, activities, and the interaction with staff and other residents. The care home is virtually brand new, it was all very clean and the bedroom facilities were lovely. Would recommend.

We are incredibly grateful to have found Adel Square. After visiting several care homes, we were amazed when we found this one. It is absolutely beautiful, spotless, and the staff have been exceptional from the moment my mum moved in.
They have gone above and beyond to help her settle in, and the difference in her wellbeing has been remarkable. She looks happier and healthier, and her memory has even improved thanks to the wonderful level of engagement and support she receives every day.
The food must be exceptional too. For the first time in a very long time, I asked my mum what she had for lunch and she remembered straight away. She even said that the batter on her fish was the best she had ever tasted!

I cannot thank Diane and her team enough for their care, kindness, and dedication. They have made such a positive difference for my mum, and to our family. I would highly recommend Adel Square to anyone looking for outstanding care.

The interior of the care home is beautifully designed and decorated on each floor, just like a 4 star hotel. The residents individual rooms are well designed with great furniture included as well as wall mounted tv. The ensuite is lovely, spacious, light and bright.

It would be good to have the special film on the windows in the groundfloor rooms that face the high street so residents can see out clearly but passers-bys can't see it

My uncle has been living at Castle Grange since November 2025. From the first visit we were so happy with Castle Grange, Denise showed us round and answered all of our questions and we were impressed with the facilities and felt it was the right place for my uncle. The management team were great in supporting us to move my uncle as he was moving from another county and helped to make it a smooth transition.

We were quite nervous about how my uncle would settle in and if it was the right decision for him. Four months later and it was the best decision we could have made. He is so settled and happy and loves living there. All the staff are great with him and you can see they are all caring and enjoy their jobs. They have lots of activities that he can choose to do if he would like. When we visit all staff are friendly and welcoming and they have loads of things planned that families can get involved in which we like. It's been great for us as a family knowing he is safe and cared for.

My uncle went to Shipley Manor initially for respite care just before Christmas but due to a deterioration in his heath he is still at the home as my aunt is unable to look after him at home. My uncle is receiving excellent care from the staff and it's clear that staff have built good relationships not only with my uncle but with the rest of the family, they keep my aunt and cousins updated with any changes in his health. He always looks well presented and when awake and alert he seems very happy. The home itself is always well presented, smells nice and there's always lots of activities going on to keep the residents happy and engaged as much possible.

Mum has been here over a year now and receives excellent care and attention. Mum looks better than when she was in her own home and her confidence has grown with staff and other residents. All family and friends who visit feel that staff, whatever their role, are happy to help with any queries.
