My uncle has been living at Castle Grange since November 2025. From the first visit we were so happy with Castle Grange, Denise showed us round and answered all of our questions and we were impressed with the facilities and felt it was the right place for my uncle. The management team were great in
supporting us to move my uncle as he was moving from another county and helped to make it a smooth transition.
We were quite nervous about how my uncle would settle in and if it was the right decision for him. Four months later and it was the best decision we could have made. He is so settled and happy and loves living there. All the staff are great with him and you can see they are all caring and enjoy their jobs. They have lots of activities that he can choose to do if he would like. When we visit all staff are friendly and welcoming and they have loads of things planned that families can get involved in which we like. It's been great for us as a family knowing he is safe and cared for.
Reply from Paul Millar, Client Relations at Castle GrangeThank you for taking the time to review our home. It is a pleasure to care for your uncle, and we are delighted at how quickly he has settled in. Your kind words are greatly appreciated, and I will, of course, share them with the Castle Grange family. We look forward to seeing you soon.

My uncle went to Shipley Manor initially for respite care just before Christmas but due to a deterioration in his heath he is still at the home as my aunt is unable to look after him at home. My uncle is receiving excellent care from the staff and it's clear that staff have built good relationships
not only with my uncle but with the rest of the family, they keep my aunt and cousins updated with any changes in his health. He always looks well presented and when awake and alert he seems very happy. The home itself is always well presented, smells nice and there's always lots of activities going on to keep the residents happy and engaged as much possible.

Mum has been here over a year now and receives excellent care and attention. Mum looks better than when she was in her own home and her confidence has grown with staff and other residents. All family and friends who visit feel that staff, whatever their role, are happy to help with any queries. All
staff are attentive and willing to spend that extra bit of time when interacting with the residents, it really does make a difference.

During my recent visit the staff were very professional and welcoming. The building is very well kept, bright and clean and my relative is well looked after. The atmosphere inside is very calm and this helps keep my relative calm despite having advanced dementia. It is a comfort to know she is very
comfortable living at Castle Grange.

My stepmother went into St Marys on the 14/1/26 after being in a hospice. The care she received was amazing! As a family we couldn't fault anything about St Mary's, nothing was ever to much trouble. All the staff from nurses, care assistant, domestic staff, catering, office staff, management team etc
were fantastic. It was a big move for my step mum who was feeling very anxious about it. She was welcomed by all staff, they couldn't have been any kinder. As busy as the staff were they always took the time to speak to us and deal with any queries we had. They took care of her every need with such compassion and always a smile on their faces. She was never made to feel like a burden when she was worried about. Sadly she passed away on the 22/1/26. The care at St Marys still continued towards us a family. All the staff were truly sorry for our loss, they couldn't have been any kinder. St Marys really did themselves proud, this is an exceptional place with exceptional staff 10/10.

I have been a resident in St Mary's for 3 and a half years and have usually spent Christmas with relatives, but spent the last one here. I was well looked after, and there were plenty of activities and entertainment, including choirs, singers, carols played by a brass band and a saxophone soloist. Father
Christmas visited everyone, and there was also a Christmas party with lovely food and drinks. We are now looking forward to Spring so we can sit in the garden and hopefully enjoy the sunshine.

My aunt has been at St Mary's Lodge for nearly 3 years. She considers herself lucky to be in such a good home. She has a very nice room, likes the carers and the food. The whole place is very well kept, clean and comfortable. There was an emergency during a recent visit and the staff responded immediately,
which I found very reassuring.

I have no regrets choosing St Mary's Lodge as the place to care for my mum during these difficult years.
First and foremost, the staff are exceptional! They are warm, compassionate, sensitive, patient and always focused on making each day as pleasurable as possible for all residents in their care.
Regular
activities are offered designed to stimulate and engage, and the time of year is always reflected by wonderful seasonal decorations and uplifting entertainment.
The food is of a high standard, with a daily selection of meals to choose from, and regular drinks and snacks served throughout the day.
The Lodge is beautifully designed, offering a safe environment to relax or socialise in, with cleanliness a high priority.
Each stage of my mum's dementia is met with professionalism and compassion, giving my family not only the peace of mind that mum is getting the best care possible, but also comfort in seeing her so settled. Thank you!

The care provided to my father after his terminal diagnosis was truly exceptional. Every member of the team treated him with the utmost dignity, compassion, and respect, ensuring he was comfortable and cared for not only physically, but emotionally as well. Their kindness extended to our entire family,
offering reassurance , time and support during an incredibly difficult time.

From the moment we arrived, we always felt genuinely welcomed. The environment was warm, calm, and comforting-far more like a home than a clinical setting. This sense of care and compassion brought us peace and allowed my father to spend his time feeling safe, and surrounded by kindness. The staff also were funny which helped with the sadness seeing them interact with other residents was exceptional
also after my dad sadly passed away helped with funeral arrangements
We will always be deeply grateful for the love and care shown
Thankyou to you all you are all superb

At the beginning of December my Mother-in-law was diagnosed with numerous cancers. Unfortunately, this progressed much quicker than expected meaning she was unable to care for herself. A room at St Mary's Anlaby was quickly arranged between their admin team and the Discharge Team from Hull Royal.

From

her admission to the home my Mother-in-law was immediately made welcome by the whole team, and quickly started learning their names. Even the residents would visit to say hello. When visiting with my Daughters, the staff in there made them feel welcome and even included them with some of the activities available. This made every visit to their Nana less intimidating and incentivised them to visit more often.

Unfortunately, my Mother-in-law passed after a few short weeks at St Mary's. The team were fantastic with our family and ensured the whole process was handled delicately and with care.

Thank you to the whole team for being so professional and attentive with everyone in family.

Mum came in on the 31st of December after a stay in hospital. She was met by some amazing staff who help get her settled into her new room. The care that mum has received since she has been in St Mary's Lodge has been amazing. They have been very accommodating to mums needs and always checking in on
her as she has been bed bound. They have made sure mum is comfortable. They have also made me feel welcome every time I've visited mum, kept me upto date with mum's condition and how she's been. The food that has been offered to mum has been lovely. Nice hearty meals such as lamb hotpot, beef stew with a homemade trifle. The look of the home it's self is set out nice with a welcoming look when you step through the doors. It also has an added bonus of seeing the wildlife through the windows such as squirrels playing and robins coming to the bird boxes. The home is also kept very clean and tidy with rooms cleaned daily.
Reply from Paul Millar, Client Relations at St Mary's Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such kind and thoughtful words about your mum's time with us at St Mary's Lodge. We were deeply saddened to hear of her passing and all of us send our heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this very difficult time.

It truly means a great deal to the whole team to know that your mum was made comfortable and that you felt welcomed, supported, and kept informed throughout her stay. It was a privilege to care for her, and she was very much respected and cared for by everyone who had the pleasure of looking after her.
Your kind words regarding the home , the meals, and the little moments such as watching the wildlife are especially touching, and we're grateful you noticed the care and thought that goes into making St Mary's Lodge a calm and comforting place.
