My mum was in castle grange for a few years and both her and my family were treated terribly. My mum was holding her medication back then overdosing later. We put safeguarding on castle grange meaning that 2 staff members were supposed to give her meds but they still only had one staff do it and when
my mum overdosed again castle grange accused us and put safeguarding on us. We were not allowed out with our mum and were not allowed to be alone with her. The staff wouldn't even take water that we asked for to her room as she was often admitted to hospital with dehydration and we just wanted to know she had water in her room. We were not allowed in her room during safeguarding so for peace of mind and out of love we asked the staff to take her water to her room before we left but 2 hours later and after asking many times the water was still in the canteen. They evicted my mum on her last visit to hospital where she died homeless on 7th July. Horrific care home for our lovely mum.

My dad was at shipley manor from jan 24 until he passed in Oct 24. The care he received was second to none. The staff treated us both like part of their family and nothing was too much trouble. The last few months he was unable to drink without thickener and could only eat certain things. Whether it
took him 5 mins or an hour they sat with him and never rushed him. The last few days I was given a room where I could sleep or shower and was able to be with him to the end. The night manager emma facilitated it so I could lay next to him and he passed in my arms which I could never be more thankful for. Tracey had such a lovely relationship with him. All the other staff which are too many to mention were absolutely wonderful. I cannot recommend this wonderful care home enough.

Mum has been in St Marys for over 4 yrs, and she has had many ups and downs in her medical journey (Alzheimers, Depression, Psychosis); St Marys has made it possible for us to get through this as a family, and for Mum to have amazing care as we progressed. The staff are fantastic - always willing to
go the extra mile, ensuring Mum is safe, loved and engaged, but also have empathy and manage her many ups and downs. They are open to feedback, take time to speak to us, and often chase up things from local GP and other hospital visits to make sure Mum is taken care of. I like the way the team are committed to their patients, and know all the residents well, and ensure that they feel part of the community. Its so hard to have a loved one cared for by others, but the St Marys team make this so much easier. We will always be grateful for the many staff - Alys, Louise, Sophie, Jo, and the rest of the team who are so wonderful with Mum. Long may they be there!

My Mother became a resident of Shipley Manor in April 2024 and remained in their care until her death in March 2025.

At all times the staff were polite and indeed loved our Mother dearly. We were always kept informed and enjoyed a wonderful, supportive relationship with the staff caring for her.

Mum loved her room, she loved her meals and enjoyed some pleasant outings with the staff.

There was a comprehensive activities programme and as a family we were always welcomed to join Mum to take part.

They mark all birthdays and important days throughout the year with gusto and passion. Dressing the home for Halloween, Christmas, Remembrance Days and many more.

Staff were always polite, caring and showed great empathy throughout her stay.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Shipley Manor to anyone considering residential care.

Security is excellent, care exceptional and the quality of the decor and cleanliness second to none.

I felt part of the family, as did Mum. Thank you

St Mary's Lodge Care Home

My husband came into St Mary's Lodge in May, as by then I was really struggling to meet his care needs (on my own at home) due to my own health issues. For over 5yrs he would not engage with any of the Mental Health Team's efforts for social activities or carers coming to the home etc. so we knew going
into a residential home would be a massive challenge. After a lot of researching we took him for a visit to St Mary's, we all thought it was lovely, the residents seemed happy, relaxed and cared for, the staff were friendly and down to earth.
I'm happy to say my husband settled so well at St Mary's Lodge, he says he's happy and he likes it there and to my relief he hasn't been asking to come home, even after hospital stays he was happy to return there. It's such a weight lifted off my shoulders and heart ~ Big thanks to all the lovely staff.

My sister moved to Castle Grange following a fall and a stay in hospital. The atmosphere in the care home is friendly and welcoming with helpful and supportive staff. It is bright, cheerful and very clean. All the communal spaces are well laid out as is her bedroom which she likes very much. My

My mother has dementia but is still able to be fairly independent. Before entering Shipley manor however she felt isolated and was not enjoying life, or eating regularly. Since moving in 9 months ago she is much happier, loves the location and her room and I am much happier knowing her daily needs are
being taken care of. She enjoys interacting with the staff and other residents, likes the meals and particularly loves not having to do domestic tasks! The home is well designed and kept very clean. The staff are cheerful and welcoming. Everyone who visits mum says how lovely it is. I would recommend it.

Mum stayed for a week's respite care, prior to deciding to move in - a really positive experience for us as a family. The manager was very thorough in ensuring all details regarding mum's needs were recorded & planned for prior to the stay. The rooms and all communal spaces were lovely and bright with
excellent facilities. Mum settled well into her room, I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff - there were always several staff around on each floor to give an update on how she was doing. Mum really enjoyed the activities, she likes walking and staff accompanied her on several walks to the nearby park / common, she enjoyed the daily exercise class - we were delighted her needs to keep active & busy were met, she also enjoyed the music/ singing activities. Night staff were responsive & kind when settling her if she woke up at night. The food served by the chef looked lovely. We were confident that mum was safe & well looked after, she is looking forward to moving in.

I would highly recommend Hutton Manor to anybody who is looking for a care home. I knew the minute that I walked in the home that is was the one, my mum said this as well. My grandma is so well cared for, we used to be worried sick about her, but we know that she is safe and that the staff go above

I did my homework to find the perfect home for mum and absolutely found it. The staff are amazing...they are happy, full of fun, a close team who really care...evident as soon as you walk in the lovely immaculate building which has the freshness of a hotel rather than a home.
It amazes me how the staff
are always giving 100% in what is clearly a difficult emotional and taxing job to do.
It is an agonising decision to move your loved one out of their home when you know it's the right thing to do so it's so important you get it right.
I absolutely did !
