My mother has a lovely room & bathroom, which is kept clean & tidy for her. The care given by EVERY member of staff is incredibly cheerful, helpful, polite & very caring (from management to domestic). The food is fresh, appetising & nutritious. Strict security levels are observed at all times. All staff
are polite to visitors and nothing seems too much trouble for them (all of them). The management team answer all questions and are an enormous help to nervous newcomers & their families

What a lovely place the staff go above and beyond to help mum and family. Mum was on end of life care at St Mary's chants Ave. The staff were fantastic so friendly popping in a out her room 24-7 made sure she was comfortable all the time. We visited nearly every day me or my sister. Dad did every day.
Everyone of the staff was fantastic carers kitchen staff the girls who did the clothes etc washing a big thank you to one lady who helped us a lot and the staff who guided me through stuff I asked they know who they are thank you. a big massive thank you to one man your doing a fantastic job keep going we as a family really appreciated every thing you have done for us x

From the first moment we were shown around we were very impressed with the whole set up. The quality of the building and facilities is 1st class, the cleanliness is of the highest standard. One lady was amazing with her support and knowledge and the way she worked with the council to help them arrange
the financial side was brilliant. The move for mum into the home was very smooth and completely stess free. Mum has settled in wonderfully well and is very very happy there. Thank you so much for everything.

My nana came to stay here as end of life care, the staff across the board where excellent, they gave my nana everything she needed and more, she ended her days in comfort and pain free, they kept in touch about everything and all my nanas needs was met, I cannot thank the staff enough and for the manager
for doing all she could to get her in from hospital as quick as she did, when we was worried about how slow the hospital was to move her. We as a family cannot thank st marys enough xx

For our family, the most important quality in any form of dementia care is kindness. Whether my mum is engaging with someone cleaning her room, or getting her dressed, she is constantly telling me that everyone is very kind. Within a week or two, everyone knew her name (and mine) which was very reassuring.
The senior nurses are very professional and helpful and have a deep understanding of dementia. Paramedics visit every week and a Pharmacist calls to discuss changes in medication - these services are excellent. They are two individuals in charge of activities who have endless enthusiasm, recently introducing a series of raised containers for vegetables and some flowers. The home dog is loved by all. A suggestion for improvement, is that there should be access to a minibus for outings. This would be a very important addition to the mental well-being of residents who call St Marys their home.

Excellent care, Mum's really happy here. Lovely rooms, all ensuite. We feel we can live our lives with our family at home knowing Mum's getting the best care. The only thing Mum would change is the standard of food more of a variety for nursing residents but what makes the home is the staff. They are
all amazing and helpful, from management to cleaners.

It's been a few months now and only finding the strength to write this after my dads passing last October 2024, I definitely found the home understaffed and actually found my dad left alone for a number of hours and not monitored as much as he should of been, I think the last visit was actually devastating
as he had COPD and it took all day to call for a dr and when I got to the home at 6pm not even an ambulance had been called (which should of been called ) it took another 3 hrs and sadly my dad passed away, not the best experience we have had with the home especially the manager she has no empathy at all wouldn't have any other members of my family go in this home I do actually know when the home was the original one located at the front it was better , but when they had the big one built at the back of the old one they changed most of the staff and this was not good.

The manager should be retrained/removed. The home should be demolished and rebuilt with the needs of residents in and cleanliness good except for the beetle found in my room! Laundry system at best eratic, staff must respect privacy of residents and not laugh in their faces when complaining. Medical
good but I am awaiting reply to my complaint ref with holding of medication. Food, breakfast good, the rest well it's food!
Overall, the last weeks have been the most miserable and unhappy of my life, things can only get better!

From seeing the home online to my Sister moving in was so easy. The friendly admin gave a wonderful tour and gave all the information we needed. The manager came and introduced herself and was warm and kind. All the staff are brilliant with my sister and it's the happiest I have seen her. All staff

One word - Outstanding from the first initial visit you could truly see how exceptional the services and staff were at looking after the residents. They truly thought of everything. My mother was and is very happy and enjoyed the daily different activities provided by the amazing activities coordinators.
The facilities in the new home were that of a 5-star hotel! Thank you all at St Marys for everything you continue to do.

My grandad was brought in as an emergency from another home. He was only with the home for 5 days as he was end of life and the care he received was outstanding. The staff couldn’t do enough for him and us as a family. We are so grateful for the care he received.

Jayne Boothby is the proud Home Manager of St Mary’s Nursing Home.


After caring for her Grandfather, Jayne decided that this was the career for her and has stayed for over 30 years.


Starting her career in nursing, Jayne was later been Clinical Nurse Manager at a Hull Nursing Home and is vastly experienced in operating homes similar to St Mary’s.


This experience enables Jayne to have good working relationships with healthcare professionals in the area. An important fact when dealing with new residents is that these relationships ensure a frictionless move from home or hospital into St Mary’s Nursing Home.


Jayne is a natural caregiver; this is apparent when you first walk into St Mary’s Nursing Home. This friendliness is reflected in the care team, all of whom are warm and helpful, easing the transition into a care setting for all new residents.


Outside of work, Jayne is a keen Angler and supports the “Hull Fishing Heritage Centre “of which her husband, Jerry, is chairman.


The Centre provides people with information, artefacts, and resources to help them understand the role of fishing in Hull’s heritage and identity.
