My dad was in this care home for 10 months and had a really bad time! The manager took him on without the relevant equipment and that resulted in him being left in bed for most of his stay until he passed away. The family have been to safeguarding and the CQC as well as taking it to higher management. Safeguarding have given them 10 recommendations! Staff are leaving all the time. I heard other families are going through the same, all complaining and have told me they too have complained about the home.

More has to be done about this home, the residents are just left, its sad to see. If there was an option for no stars I would have selected that.

This is not a simple review, given we are only just emerging from a global pandemic. However, I feel that my mother has been well cared for throughout an extended period of lockdown and enforced isolation. On the visits I was allowed, the staff always appeared helpful and courteous. The food always looks appetising and the facilities clean.

All staff members are so caring to the residents and their families. Every day, when visiting our very frail mother, all the care team made us feel very welcome and attentive to our needs (visitors) and our mother. Nothing was too much for the team to deal with. Fully informed all the time with what care had been given on a daily basis. All questions from family were fully answered and continually told to ask anything that we needed to. Fantastic team.

My grandad was admitted to St Marys for end of life care. He was there only 4 days but honestly, they were the most settled 4 days he must have had in about a month. The staff were amazing always coming in to check on him as well as us and make sure we were okay. The Manager is brilliant and managed to get my grandad in this home urgently straight from hospital as he was very unwell. I cannot thank her enough! The senior carers did an amazing job making sure my grandad was comfy, keeping up to date with his meds before he was moved to nursing, and got on with the doctors straight away to help with his pain. When he moved to nursing the nurses did an amazing job keeping up to date with his pain meds so he wasn't uncomfortable. Checking in on him all the time and again checking us family members were okay as well. The care staff were amazing and treat my grandad with dignity and respect. I cannot fault St Mary's at all and I am really glad that is where my grandad had his last days.

My mother came to this care home with multiple health issues. The staff on the residential and nursing side made my mothers stay comfortable and dealt with all her needs both medically and mentally with care, compassion, and a great understanding that she was an individual.

Myself and my family consider ourselves extremely lucky that a bed was available for my mother at St Marys when she suddenly required full nursing support. The care provided to my mum over the last year has shown great skill in pre-empting her physical health needs, which unfortunately are increasing as well as showing great empathy to my mum's mental health in this extremely stressful period for her. The staff are always cheerful and willing to give information, which has been even more essential due to times of being unable to visit as a result of the Covid situation. The staff have made a real effort to get to know my mum as a person, and in the process, have brought humour into their interactions with my mum, which I know she has very much appreciated and has given her a sense of some normality.

Mother resided for 18 months. We, as a family, very happy with her care.
She has dementia, which unfortunately has exacerbated during COVID.
The staff look after her very well. They are very kind and caring.
They have become her family and try to treat her as such.
They go above and beyond.

We trust them, they all appear kind and caring and have worked hard to maintain their own, and the residents safety, during very testing times.

My mother was admitted to St Mary's Nursing Home following a hip operation and has remained in there due to her dementia. The grounds are well kept, and her room is small, but throughout the time she has been there, the staff (at all levels and positions) have been wonderful.

They are a great bunch; fun, helpful and most importantly, they look after her extremely well.

I've not been able to visit her inside since the start of the Covid, but the team have bent over backwards to enable me and my daughter to use their iPad, phone and mobiles to allow us to do calls/FaceTime call with her.

I have seen the team make a huge effort on special occasions (Birthday/Easter/Christmas), and I'm sure my mother feels like they are friends and family to her, and that's heartwarming.

Although her memory is poor, I know the team are doing their best to keep the residents occupied with various activities, and I feel reassured that she is comfortable and safe. I think they do a fantastic job.

Overall the care home is good but I think there are a few points for improvement.
- Training on dementia for better understanding
- Some staff/carers need regular training so best practice is kept up for a caring environment
- Sometimes there is a lack of staffing numbers

- Reception should be staffed at all times because there have been a few residents who have managed to get out.

My mum has been residing at St Mary's for just over 1 year and we as a family have always been extremely happy with her care. Most importantly mum is very happy living there.

During the pandemic lockdown, it was fully explained to us regarding how to contact mum and we never had a problem face-timing or ringing for an update. The staff are amazing.

My mum has been receiving care in St Mary's Nursing Home for three years. I've not once had to complain, other than a few issues with misplaced clothing/laundry. Always clean and well kept, all staff are respectful and supportive. Good communication skills throughout. Always positive feedback throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. A lovely place to call home.

My dad unfortunately needed to be admitted into a care home last year and after looking around St Mary’s Nursing Home we didn’t want to see anymore. Not only did it look lovely and homely but the staff were amazing. The staff don’t seem to look at it as a job, they actually care about the residents. Residents pets can go in anytime to see them which is very reassuring for my dad. My dad settled in within days and has just got better as time has gone on. During this Coronavirus outbreak and the heart wrenching but understandable decision the government has made to stop relatives seeing their loved ones, St Mary’s Nursing Home has gone out of their way to make sure their residents can go online to see their families as often as wanted. The love and care the carers and nurses show and give is out of this world. I just want to say thank you to the Manager at St Mary’s Nursing Home and would recommend to everyone I know.

My father moved here 6 months ago from a residential home. We weren’t sure in the beginning we had done the right thing but because he needed Nursing Care there was very little choice and am glad to say we definitely did the right thing. There are plenty of activities, outings and entertainment. Sadly, recently, a number of brilliant nursing staff have left for whatever reason hopefully will get back to full quota soon. Otherwise can't fault the home. Manager is very approachable and any problems seem to be dealt with immediately.
