Maplewood Court has proved to be the best choice I could have made for my father's last few months. You can pay for care but kindness is priceless. It makes all the difference. It’s not an easy decision where you place your loving parents and you don’t really know what experience they have when you
aren’t there, you can only hope it’s as good as you would wish for. It was.

Maplewood Court is beyond wonderful. My grandad spent the last 3 months of his life here and from day one, the care he received was amazing. The staff are professional, caring, supportive, friendly and compassionate. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone is always so welcoming. The building and the
facilities are first class, very well thought out and superbly maintained. I cannot praise Maplewood Court enough for the quality of care they gave grandad. We will be forever grateful to them for that.

My dad was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2015. He moved to Maplewood Court on 15th May. This was following a two-week hospital admission for a partial hip replacement sustained from a fall in another care home, having fractured the left hip last year. From the day Dad moved into Maplewood, the
staff had him shaved, nicely dressed and sitting in a wheelchair. He looked a different person from how he had presented in the hospital. He was happy and singing to the staff. Staff encouraged Dad to engage in the activities provided in the home, always mindful if he became restless and being aware that if not watched he may have another fall. As Dad's overall condition deteriorated he spent more time in bed. Once again the staff excelled at keeping him comfortable. Sadly Dad died on 28th July - the nurse that informed me was professional and sensitive as she always has been. I am so grateful that Dad spent his last month being loved and cared for in this wonderful home - thank you.

My Father-in-law has been at Maplewood Court for a few months now. Despite having dementia he settled well and this has been helped enormously by all the wonderful staff here. The care home staff think of everything and it is such a lovely place to visit. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Since my mother moved to Maplewood Court I have noticed a vast improvement in my mother’s well-being and happiness. Staff go out of their way to make sure residents are safe and happy. It’s lovely to see my mother smiling in her activities. A big hand to this care home and staff.

From our initial contact with the staff, we were dealt with in a friendly yet professional manner and throughout the period my sister was at the home. We had no reservation about her staying at the care home.

We are so pleased that Mum is happy and settled at Maplewood Court. The attention from all the care staff is to be applauded, and nothing is too much trouble to make her life comfortable and happy. There are many activities for her to participate in. The rooms are immaculate, clean and well-fitted.
The meals are taken in a very well-appointed dining room, which is laid out like a five-star hotel, and the meals match the setting. We have found the nursing care to be very professional when needed, and we were informed immediately when there was an issue. There is a cinema room that can be used to show family photos etc, on the widescreen TV and the reception team offer snacks and drinks as well. What more can you ask for.

This is an amazing home.
Only newly opened. The staff are very friendly and caring. Nothing was too much trouble. My father was very well looked after during his brief stay at this home.
I would highly recommend this place to anybody needing this type of accommodation.

We are so pleased with the care and attention given; it's top-rate. The staff are very friendly and have been very helpful to us in settling my mother-in-law into the home. The activities organised are brilliant and very varied. We are very grateful for the extras provided, like the guest dining room
where intimate small family gatherings with fantastic food can be used. All in all, a lovely, warm and inviting care home.

I am so impressed with Maplewood Court. In the last couple of months, we had to move our mum due to upsetting and dreadful circumstances at her previous nursing home. We could not feel more relieved and happy with the change in her well-being brought about by the change in her environment, exemplary
nursing care and amazing staff. Mum's stage of dementia made the move to a different home all the more difficult for both Mum and us but the excellent training, kindness, compassion and perseverance by the whole team has provided her a wonderful new lease of life as well as incredible support and respite for us as a family. The accommodation and attention to detail in the design is first-class. This covers her room, lounge, treatment, recreation and dining areas. They all serve to create such a beautiful, calming, immaculately cleaned space for both Mum and her visitors! I would not hesitate in recommending Maplewood Court for it's outstanding care and the peace of mind it delivers.

My mum has recently moved to Maplewood Court and the care she has had has just been so amazing. Everyone is so kind and caring, the staff and management have done everything in their power to make my mum feel at home. She has participated in activities, which she has loved and eats in the beautiful
restaurant every day. The decor and furnishings in Maplewood are just stunning and everywhere is beautifully clean. I can relax in the knowledge that my mum is cared for every day and that she is so happy. I would recommend this care home to everyone, it is just amazing. In fact, my phone has the phone number saved as Mum's amazing care home.

I only have good things to say about Maplewood Court, the quality of the building, rooms, grounds and facilities, but the key element is the staff. They showed such care, interest and love to my father who unfortunately enjoyed too short a stay at Maplewood. Nothing was too much trouble, everything
was conducted with respect, dignity and compassion to the resident and their families. My dad truly loved being there and getting involved in the activities and gardens. Thank you to everyone at Maplewood Court for making the last weeks of my dad’s life so much better and for the compassion shown to me and my husband since he passed.

My father was fortunate enough to spend the last four weeks or so of his life in this absolutely fantastic establishment. He became ill with the after effects of Covid in July 2022 and, after a few weeks in hospital he was able to move into Maplewood Court. It is difficult to know what to say without
seeming to go over the top. This home is akin to a 5 star hotel. The facilities are outstanding and my father had a lovely, comfortable and quiet en-suite facility. His room was excellent, but this high standard was exceeded by the care, dedication and sheer professionalism of the wonderful staff, all of whom are totally committed to their work. My father was 96 years old when he entered Maplewood Court and his health was deteriorating rapidly. The care and attention he received was of the highest quality possible. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff; they tended to his every need. Shortly before he passed, he told me that he was so pleased to be in Maplewood Court. A really exceptional establishment!

Joanna

Joanna Mazza

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2022

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1994 and began my career working in a hospital in general medicine, before moving into more acute cardiac services working on Coronary Care.
I then became a Cardiac Research Nurse and spent time working on the Heart Protection Study in partnership with the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.


I then moved into the private sector and worked as a Clinical Nurse Adviser working in primary care working my way up to Field Manager before moving into Elderly Care in 2007.

My ethos in my role is very much that with great teamwork and collaboration we can achieve anything for our residents and their families, and every single staff member contributes to the success of the home.


I have previously been nominated for Nurse Adviser of the Year at the Pf Awards and in elderly care, I was more recently nominated in Dementia Environment and Care Manager categories in both the National Dementia Awards and National Care Awards.


Our residents are at the centre of everything we do at Maplewood Court. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family – I have ten-year-old twin girls and I enjoy running approximately three times a week.

Originally from Poland, I moved to the UK in 2011 with a passion for making a difference in people’s lives. I studied Health and Social Care and knew early on that caring for older people was my calling. I began working in care homes at the age of 18 and have since progressed through various roles, from Healthcare Assistant to Assistant Practitioner, Unit Manager, and now Deputy Manager. I have always treated residents as I would my own family—with compassion, respect, and dignity. Working at Oakland Care allows me to continue doing what I love in a supportive, values-driven environment. I take great pride in being part of a team that truly puts people first, and I’m inspired every day by the positive impact we make in our residents’ lives.

My experience in the role goes back 11 years now, including the commissioning of a new care home. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than assisting families to explore full-time care options, whilst sharing insights during what is often a stressful time for them. Outside of work, my biggest passion has always been travel, which hopefully will become easier again in the fullness of time!

I’m very proud to be a part of the Oakland Care family. I originally trained as a photographer and photographic printer back in the days of film! From shooting family portraits in the studio one day to being in the darkroom the next, it was a varied job. Working for Oakland Care has been by far the most personally rewarding; helping residents and their families navigate what can be a difficult and stressful pathway to happiness gives me immense pleasure. Our residents are at the heart of everything we do here at Oakland Care, and I feel truly humbled to be a part of it. Outside of work, I enjoy getting out in the fresh air, either on my bike or walking in the countryside.
