The care provided is excellent at Mearns House. Mum is well looked after and enjoys all the activities on offer. The food seems ok, nothing fancy, but Mum enjoys it.
All the staff know Mum by name and seem to care for her well, and she loves all the staff in the home.

Mum was given a very warm welcome, the whole team helping Mum to feel settled as quickly as possible. The nursery team spent a lot of time getting to know Mum, great modern facilities, including underfloor sensors to monitor any movements in the rooms at night and tagging clothes so they don't get mixed
up - genius idea. Food options are excellent, with plenty of treats and tea available. Very varied range of weekly activities so residents can socialise and keep active where possible. And great coffee for visitors too!

My experience has been largely positive. I find the care staff very friendly, attentive, caring and professional. I receive a phone call if my mum has had even a small/minor accident informing me of her condition and any treatment she has received. My mum has mild Alzheimers and enjoys chatting with
staff and looks forward to attending activities which staff also join in with. My brother and I attended my mum's six-month review last week where we discussed her care going forward with a care assistant.

I have great confidence in the care that my stepmother is receiving at Mearns House. She has lived here for over a year and her health and well-being have improved during this time. The staff are always friendly and attentive, the meals are enjoyable and there is a wide range of activities on offer.
The common areas and rooms are clean and tidy, and there is an attractive garden to enjoy during warmer months. Whenever any health issues have arisen, I have been quickly updated, and I am reassured by the standard of care offered. The most important thing is that my stepmother is content, safe and settled - and truly considers Mearns House as home.

I receive good care and support in the care home, I am always treated with dignity and respect. I have made some good friendships with staff and residents that I will cherish. There is always something to do but I like my own company and like that my wishes are respected and can choose if I wish to

I think the care home overall is very good and the staff are caring and show compassion. I have made some great friendships with staff and residents also I am very active in the care home and they have good activities in the home. I attend them all I am happy in the care home and chat with my daughter

I came to visit my aunt and I have never come across such wonderful staff and service. Everyone had a warm welcoming smile and could not do enough for you. I would like to thank the proprietor and the staff for looking after and taking care of my aunt who is so special to us all.

My family and I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the exemplary care of our dad. I would also like to add my personal thanks as my dad had to be re-homed during very challenging times of Covid restrictions. Not being able to oversee this personally, everyone at Mearns House went above
and beyond ensuring that this transition went as smoothly as possible.
Needless to say, Dad settled in very quickly. I always asked Dad if he had any issues or complaints but he only ever had compliments for everyone.
All staff at Mearns House were always so accommodating. Dad, throughout his life, was always surrounded by creatures, great and small and he also loved his garden. The icing on the cake for Dad was been able to sit outside in your beautiful garden, organise visits with friends and all the four legged beasties in tow!
It was a great comfort for the family to know that Dad was safe, happy and loved.
Dad's passing was peaceful and dignified and for that, we are eternally grateful.

My mother has been a resident for over 3 years. She has parkinson’s disease; some days are better than others. She does not suffer from dementia.
The home is modern and purpose-built. When researching homes I did not find one that was better equipped, brighter or more inviting than Mearns House.
Due
to Covid I obviously haven’t been in the home as much as I used to be but generally, interactions with staff are very positive. Like most homes, the turnover of staff is quite high but a core group have been there since Mum arrived.
I believe that the staff have the residents best interests at heart and the staff know my Mum’s needs very well. Mum can suffer from crippling anxiety and I have found the staff to be patient and encouraging.
Generally, there is good and varied entertainment laid on.
Food is good although Mum complains of lack of variety.

The entire team at Mearns house are a fantastic comfort to residents and relatives alike. They are highly trained and experienced and have become an extended family to my elderly mother. During these exceptional times, the team have been a real credit to the care sector.

One of the advantages of Mearns House is ground floor rooms having direct access to the courtyard for those able to do so.
The relaxation of the isolating Covid rules has made a huge difference to the resident. Mearns House has managed this well.

It has been a difficult time for all concerned. As my mum came here during lockdown. However, I feel the staff have tried very hard to address any concerns we had. As more visits are available things are much better, especially communication.

My mother has been in Mearns House for a year now and it was the best decision that the family, along with our mother, ever made since I was no longer able to look after her myself. The care and attention she receives has been exceptional. The staff treat her like their own family and they know her
almost as well as I do now. I can't praise them highly enough for all they do for my mum and all the other residents. When we were able to visit I was always made welcome no matter how long I stayed or how often I came. When you have any questions the staff are always happy to spend time with you either in person (pre-Covid) or now on the phone.
There are three words which I'd use to describe the home and all the staff... amazing, amazing, amazing! Thank you Mearns House from the bottom of my heart.

My mother lived in Newton Mearns from 1953 until 1986 when she and her husband moved to Fuengirola.
My mother, born in Barrhead, worked as a young teacher in a school for several years. Subsequently, she worked as a volunteer for an organisation, ending up as the Manager for the West of Scotland area.
She
then managed a ladies' dress shop in Newton Mearns for 5 years.
After her husband's death in Spain, she returned to Newton Mearns.
She moved into Mearns House last year.
Every single word my mother uses to describe Mearns House and the staff and management is positive.
Every single word.
I live in Milan and, so, am not allowed to travel to visit my mother; nevertheless, during all of our telephone chats, she repeats the same sentiment: The staff in Mearns House are fantastic. I thank them for that.

I researched diligently all possible homes that could care for Mum and I am so glad I did. Mearns House seemed perfect when we visited and it has not let us down. Staff are kind and caring and genuinely care for the residents. Mum says she is happy and she doesn't say that often. Her room is lovely,
food is amazing and the facilities are great. The cafe is lovely and such a nice place to spend your visit time (well when we could visit). Covid enforcing separation from our loved ones has been unbelievably hard but staff have done all they can to try and keep us connected and to try and fill the gap. They have kept Mum safe and I can't thank them enough for that. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mearns House to anyone.
