Review from K D (Relative of Resident) published on 20 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Further to my first review submitted last Janaury I am completing this review to mention that the high standards and support from all of the staff remain constant. Having attended the quarterly relatives meeting, it was pleasing to learn that all matters raised at the previous meeting have been addressed. Future projects and procedures were discussed and opinions sought. It is the practical matters that result in reassurance for me that the welfare of my relative is paramount ie updates on arrival, dental, podiatry, chiropody, optician, GP visits on site are facilitated.

Reply from Charles Knowles, Home Manager at Nesbit House Care Home

It's really rewarding to read that the standards you first wrote about have held steady - consistency is something we work at quietly every day. We're glad the relatives' meeting felt worthwhile too; hearing families' views and acting on them is exactly how we want the home run, and knowing that...

From 1st time I walked into this care home earlier in the year until this review I have to say if I ever had to go into a care home (and I hope I never do!) this would be the one I would choose. Every aspect from front reception, care staff, catering, and superb level of care is the best I've ever known. Thank you.

Reply from Charles Knowles, Home Manager at Nesbit House Care Home

How lovely to receive this review, it means a great deal that you have recognised the efforts of the whole team from the reception to kitchen and care because that all round consistency is exactly what we work for.

We were so lucky to find this care home for my husband. He is so well looked after and all the staff are so good with him and understand his needs. He is always smiling and happy. The homemakers encourage him to go to the activities and when he does agree, he really enjoys them and there is plenty of variety on offer.

Reply from Charles Knowles, Home Manager at Nesbit House Care Home

It's lovely to read this, and to know your husband is so settled and happy with us. That moment when a little gentle encouragement turns into real enjoyment is exactly what our Homemakers hope for, so it means a lot to hear it's landing for him. We feel just as lucky to have him here.

My mother-in-law became a resident of Nesbit House following a stroke. Sadly, she was unable to take part in many of the wonderful activities they organise for residents, but they did try to include her as much as possible. The staff are very kind and do their best to help the residents - not always an easy job! When we encountered minor issues, they were always dealt with promptly.
The food was wonderful and we loved the fact that we could take her down to the cafe to have a coffee and one of Aniel, the head chef's, amazing cakes. It was also a bonus that she could have her hair done and have a regular pedicure.

When my mother in law became more ill before passing away, the staff were all absolutely wonderful and really took care of us, as well as taking care of her. I have to mention the amazing Anna who was so kind and considerate to all of us at such a difficult time. She did everything to make a terrible time much more bearable and we can't thank her enough for her compassion.

What a moving thing to read, and it means a great deal that you took the time to write it. Even when joining in with everything wasn't possible, including her where we could mattered to us too, and we're so glad the smaller pleasures came through - coffee and cake down in the cafe, having her hair...

Having reached the point where Mum was no longer able or safe to be alone in her home where she'd lived for the last 60 years my brother and I began the hard task of finding somewhere that we felt best suited her needs and where we felt she would feel safe and happy.
Initially we visited 2 Care homes neither of which we felt were right for her and feeling slightly despondent our next stop was Nesbit House.
As soon as we walked through the doors there was an immediate sense of hope and relief, it just had a really good feel about it and how right we were.
It was a really smooth transition and from the very first day to the very last Mum thought she was staying in a lovely hotel.
She was always treated with such great care, compassion and absolute dignity throughout and as a family we were kept informed every step of the way.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Nesbit House and all it's wonderful staff, they made a difficult time much easier for us to cope with.

My wife, who suffered from dementia, became a resident of Nesbit House in April 2025. Although my wife's initial reaction to being in a care home was challenging for the staff, it was a situation that they were clearly used to dealing with. Thanks to their kindness and dedication she settled down and remained a resident until she passed away in January 2026.
Apart from the excellent quality of her care, I was very impressed with the involvement of the staff at all levels. The interaction with them and the overall atmosphere in the home, was always very friendly.

I was also impressed with the online reporting controls that were in place, which enabled all staff from the manager down, to be aware of everything that was going on with my wife's care. Any issues that arose would be quickly dealt with.

We feel very happy that Betty is at Nesbit House. She is well looked after and gets the care she needs for a 99 year old lady. On the few occasions we have visited at the weekend, some of the homemakers/carers do not appear as interested in their job as they might.

I have been very impressed with the overall care and attention provided at this home. In particular, the catering team deserves special recognition - the meals are consistently delicious, nutritious, and thoughtfully prepared to meet residents' individual needs. The staff are not only friendly and approachable but clearly take pride in their work, making mealtimes a real highlight of the day. Combined with the excellent care, welcoming environment, and attentive support from all staff, this home provides a genuinely warm and nurturing experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for compassionate care and outstanding catering.

Re Sunday 13th July 2925 (Wimbledon finals!)
Mum moved into Nesbit this year and Sunday 13/7 was her 96th birthday.
Our family reserved the private dining room/patio, so we could all gather to celebrate mum's special day.

Together with head chef, Aniel, we agreed on a menu/BBQ/wine&beer, for 20 persons. As the sun was shining, the tables were beautifully laid outside (with umbrellas) and the BBQ and salads were absolutely delicious. As it was Wimbledon, Aneil of course, provided strawberries & cream (mums favorite) and we all had a great time. Thoroughly recommend the private dining option-thank you to all who made Mums birthday very special.

Thank you so much for the positive Review. We have really worked hard this year on our residents getting full benefit of our lovely garden Spaces. We are really happy we could help you enjoy the day. It is an absolute pleasure having Mum in the home and whilst we don't often get a group of 20 it was a pleasure hosting you all and welcome you back again at any time

I would like to say a big thank you to the team at Nesbit House Care Home for making our first Christmas with mum in a care home a really lovely experience. My family were all a little apprehensive about this time of the year and how we would make this festive session special for our Mum but thanks to the head chef and he's team we were able to relax and enjoy making some special memories with Mum.
We were a party of 9 and one small dog, all staff serving and supporting us for the afternoon were very attentive and made us feel very comfortable. The food was amazing and our private room was beautifully decorated and looked very Christmassy.

Thank you to everyone for making our Christmas Day so very special.

Nesbit House has friendly and caring staff who take a genuine interest in the residents and their happiness and welfare. I was lucky enough to spend a few days in the company of my father and the residents recently, attending the visiting entertainment (a most excellent singer) and participating in a fun "hard" quiz. I also had the opportunity to join them at lunch in the dining room on three occasions where the portion sizes were good, the choices varied and the quality as I would have anticipated for a care home like this.

The highlight, however, was a superb lunch in the private dining room for my father, brother and me. We had been invited to express our menu preferences and Head Chef Aneil and his team created, cooked and served a most delicious lunch, much as I would expect in a top restaurant, along with a selection of wine. An excellent spread!

It's the most difficult decision - placing your husband into care. The moment I stepped into Nesbit House I knew it would be the perfect place for us. From the Management team to all the homemakers and Nursing staff, I felt confident this would be the right fit. The home is bright and airy and very comfortable. There are plenty of places to enjoy a visit. The homemakers are compassionate and take the time to get to know you. They are supportive, engage with residents, care for them with professionalism and empathy. In the few months that my husband has been here I have experienced first hand the vocational nature and skills that the Nursing team display. They are impressive and very responsive as issues arise. The Catering team are far superior to anything we expected. From three course lunches, to home baked cakes and snacks on demand. So many work behind the scenes; a family taking care of our families. It's a place where should circumstances dictate, I would be happy.

I am always impressed by the smart yet informed atmosphere of Nesbit House. It is always clean, yet there is an air of informality that immediately puts everyone at ease. But an institution is only as good as the people who work there, and the care of Nestbit House the staff that I have encountered are exemplary. They are always smart but casual (the decision not to wear uniform) and most of all they treat the residents with respect and care. Long may it continue.

My mum was reluctant to enter a care home but declining health meant it had to happen. Nesbits welcomed her, gave her a room which suited her needs (ie: to be closer to people and not the end of the corridor). They are superb, from the admin home makers, nursing and chefs. The home is always clean and tidy. The facilities and entertainment are first class. All I can say is thank you. Nesbits is a really lovely place.

It's taken me a whole year to reflect and write this review. I'll keep it factual and honest.
My loved one was in the care of Nesbit House and initially we were also wowed by the plush facilities and exterior. A few months in there was a serious incident at the home and the response that followed from the management team was horrific. Playground bullying, bare face lying and blackmail tactics were used against me and my family. When the hospital issued a safeguarding complaint against the home our slot in the home was withdrawn (despite receiving a voicemail 24 hours earlier saying there were no issues with extending care). Effectively making a 98 year old homeless. Please please be careful when choosing for your loved one.

On a positive note I cannot fault the junior staff who were genuinely lovely people who cared, so thank you to all of those, we didn't get the chance to thank.
