The home is beautifully appointed. As my friend is unable to speak I understand from another resident that the food is good. Our concerns, my friends and I who visited regularly, were with the amount of time my friend spent alone, seemingly. We had hoped that she would have more stimulation but that
didn't seem the case. We sometimes arrived to find the TV wasn't on and on two occasions extremely thirsty. Skincare and giving of medication was good. We were not sure how often she had her hair washed or if she had a shower ever. For those with severe disability, this is not the home we thought it would be.
Reply from Charles Knowles, Home Manager at Nesbit House Care HomeThank you for your review of the home and for your comments relating to its presentation, administration of medication and effective skincare your friend received. I am sorry to hear of your other perceptions and I can assure you that all resident's hygiene needs are consistently met. We are constantly trying activities and approaches to include all our residents to ensure their social needs are also met. Whilst the team will be disappointed, I am sure the team will work with the feedback offered to ensure that all residents are engaged to the best of their capacity and capability. Our Homemakers spend time with residents on an individual basis and our record system shows that your friend did have these interactions. They had begun to know her well and relayed good interpretations of her ability to communicate her basic preferences despite her limitations. As the new Manager of Nesbit, it would be good to speak to you directly to discuss the particulars of your friend's stay further.

Lovely home, staff ever friendly and so helpful, They go out of their way to make sure we all were well fed and had enough drinks. Food is of the highest standard. What a spread. The afternoon entertainment was very nice, lots of singing and the cakes and scones were delicious. One can see that residents
are well-fed and taken care of. Highly recommend this lovely home.

My mother has been a resident of Nesbit House for over two years. She appears healthier and happier than when she was living in her own home. Without exception, all care staff, as well as catering, housekeeping and maintenance staff are dedicated, committed and kind. One of the reasons I selected Nesbit
was because it is neither too large (which might make it impersonal) nor too small. The carers take time to know my mum’s likes and dislikes as well as her idiosyncrasies! The nursing staff and the manager are always accessible if I have queries about my Mum’s health and wellbeing. There is a wide range of activities and entertainment. The menus are imaginative and the food is excellent. The bedrooms and bathrooms are nicely decorated and spacious, although perhaps more appropriate furniture could be provided for residents as the standard furniture is rather hotel-like. Overall, I’m impressed by the professionalism of everyone, and with the care which is provided with compassion.

Both my parent are residents of Nebit House and have been welcomed and made to feel safe and secure. All their needs are being met and to a very high standard, but also allowing them dignity and privacy in their life now. This is enhanced by the beautiful garden rooms they now live in.

Dad has settled in extremely well at Nesbit House since his admission ten weeks ago; it was arranged very suddenly due to the complete collapse of the caring arrangements he had at home, and our family are very grateful to the team at Nesbit who made this very distressing time as easy to deal with as
possible. Ten weeks on, we are all very happy and know that we made the right decision for Dad to live permanently at Nesbit House; he is receiving the best possible care. The Clinical Lead and Home Manager have been highly supportive and personally involved in ensuring Dad's needs are met. The caring, nursing, catering, maintenance and entertainment staff are amazing and attend to anything Dad needs, as well as dealing with all of the questions our family have! They are always respectful and smiling; nothing is too much trouble. The administration and reception staff are always very welcoming, helpful and efficient. I have no hesitation in recommending Nesbit House.

A close friend of mine has been in Nesbit House for nearly eighteen months and has settled very well. The team are very attentive and caring and the food is exceptional, with a large selection of food available every day. The entertainment each day always provides a wide selection of things to do and
my friend is very happy here. It is also spotlessly clean throughout and feels very homely.

Nesbit care home looked after my Mum with such kindness and compassion. She always looked clean and well dressed (they made sure the resident's clothes didn't get muddled up) when she was not at all well after a hip fracture they went to great efforts to get her back out of the hospital so they could
care for her. As a family, we were always happy with all the staff and they were always kind to us too. It was a difficult decision to make during covid which home to put my mum in as we couldn't visit them in person but we definitely made the right choice for my Mum.

A beautifully comfortable residence with very kind staff who were very friendly and attentive.
Otherwise sadly lacking what would have expected as a luxurious stay. Apart from breakfast, the two main meals were unappetising with just a few nice meals here and there.
Restful for respite but with
no atmosphere.

I do not think enough attention is paid to her needs. My cousin was fitted with a hearing aid. I gave all details to Nesbit House to fit and clean with new batteries every week, then told it was broken. I sent it back for repair and told that it had never been cleaned and full of wax. Also, my cousin
refused to get out of bed for breakfast, sometimes lonely, but she is not coached enough by the staff. I feel she is just a number.

It was always going to be a difficult decision putting mum in a care home but the staff made the transition really easy for us. Covid lockdowns were handled well and with consideration for both residents and family. Mum has become very relaxed and happy and made some really nice relationships with the
staff who are helpful and caring. It's a beautiful setting and we are very pleased.

I have been extremely happy with the care my father has been given - despite the lovely facilities I am aware this does not make a good home - but it is the staff's care and attention and Nesbit House excels at this. Nesbit House is outstanding! My Dad has been here for 18 months now and we're so happy we chose Nesbit House. Dad seems happy here, he's being looked after extremely well especially during the Covid virus. I know I can ring up anytime and find out anything I need to know about Dad. Staff are very friendly

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.705)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.705) out of 10 for Nesbit House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.705 for Nesbit House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (237 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (7 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 285 Ratings = 4.705
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nesbit House Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
