My grandfather has been here for a few months now, I am made to feel very welcome and the staff are always friendly and professional. I feel like they are giving my Gramps the best care possible. Very modern environment and feels a lot like a hotel!

My mother has settled in well and constantly tells me it is very nice in the home, the people are very kind, the food is very good and that she is staying in a 5-star hotel for retired people! The facilities are superb and having looked at 4 other local care homes, I am very confident and happy that
there is no better home in the area offering the quality of care and comfort as Oakeshott house. They have managed her personal care extremely well, and are very professional at coping with her dementia-related behaviour. It is lovely to know that she feels safe and cared for and is not lonely and vulnerable as she was in her own home.

Having been a resident here since April 2022, I have never been happier in my life. I have reserved all my independence and am very comfortable at the premises. The staff are exceptionally kind and nothing that you ask them to do is ever a bother to them. Visitors are made very welcome and visitors
are all conscious of the informality of things and feel that I am very lucky to be here. There are very nice and plentiful rooms for sitting in and hosting visitors. The food is very tasty, however, I am also out for lunch frequently. It's a real home from home and it's nice to think that if my health gets poorer, I will not have to move out. I feel that the home is extremely well-run, clean and very friendly. I am very much looking forward to the arrival of the new activities coordinator.

My husband was transferred from a different care home in June. This was to be nearer his family. The transfer and welcome he received from Oakshott House were excellent. The preparation that went into his transfer made his move stress free and he has settled down well in his new surroundings. All the
staff at Oakshott House are very caring and kind, they carry out their duties in a calm and professional manner which all adds up to a reassuring place for your relative to live and a welcoming place to visit.

This is a beautiful, well-kept care home. The care given to my brother is amazing, nothing is too much trouble. The staff are lovely, always checking on him and making sure he is comfortable. The staff also made sure we were looked after when visiting. They are all very kind.

My father moved to Oakshott House in June from another care home and the manager and deputy manager coordinated an incredibly smooth transfer. They organised a handover with the previous home and ensured that everything my father needed was in place before the move. The whole staff team have worked
hard to help Dad, and the rest of the family, feel at home in Oakshott House. The environment is five-star and the staff team are friendly, welcoming and very professional. Thank you.

My mum entered Oakeshott House in April of this year until she passed away this month (July). The care and compassion my mum was shown by every member of staff who came into contact with her was excellent. She was treated with dignity, especially in her final days and we as a family, a very large family,
were allowed to treat Oakshott as if it were our home and come and go as and when we wanted right up to the end, which was a huge comfort to us all. Oakeshott is a beautiful home and I would have no hesitation recommending it to anyone who was considering it for a loved one needing to go into care.

Oakshott kindly took over Mum's care in April after a very difficult few months in another care home. I’m truly thankful we made the move because from the manager all the way through to the carers, nurses and any other staff I had the pleasure of meeting there was not one member of staff who didn’t
go above and way beyond in their care and more importantly dignified treatment of Mum. The facilities are second to none from the reception, wine bar and cinema all the way into the bedrooms, it truly was a home from home with a great atmosphere which is all down to the magnificent staff. Unfortunately, we lost Mum on Saturday after a particularly difficult last week, again the staff were brilliant not only with Mum but with the entire family (of which there are many). We took over but nothing was too much trouble from feeding us all to endless teas and coffees, even allowing family to stay overnight. I will never forget Mum's last 3 months in Oakeshott. Thanks again to the manager and all the staff.

My mum transferred to Oakeshott House in April 2022 and we are just delighted with her care. Absolutely everything about Oakeshott House is excellent and mum has settled really well and is so much more engaged than before. The staff are all caring and friendly and have really taken the time to get
to know my mum and our family. They have really helped her settle and form friendships with the other residents. The food and surroundings are like a five star hotel with lovely communal spaces which can be used during visits so that we don’t always have to sit in mum's room. There are great activities available including trips to the on-site cinema! The food is lovely with fantastic homemade cakes, my mum is even adapted to accommodate her diabetes. The most important thing though is the staff and they have to get a special mention. It’s very clear that from management to every staff member, caring for their residents is the most important thing they do.

I visited in March 2022. I was shown around the care home by the home manager and a general discussion over coffee (and flipping lovely home-baked cakes!) followed.
The visit was a very pleasant surprise given the standards and care my mother in law was receiving at the current care home. Following
my visit, other family members visited and after having all questions and queries dealt with incredibly pleasantly and efficiently, decided to move my wife's Mum to Oakeshott House.
Since she has moved, the standard of care received, the communication with family and ease of dealing with the care home staff have been exceptional. A number of other reviews give details of the home and I can only agree with everything that has been written regarding the facilities and care provided by superb staff. Oakeshott is an outstanding example of what can be achieved in personal care within a care home environment. It as close to a home from home as you can get.

Our mother moved into Oakeshott House recently, and the care she has received has been first class. Every single member of staff, from the lady in reception, to the nurses, care staff, domestic staff and the care home manager has made this transition happen so smoothly. They’ve taken the time to get
to know Mum (and us as a family), and Oakeshott really feels like Mum's home. It’s an added bonus that the home itself is beautiful! Everywhere has been decorated so tastefully and facilities are second to none. There is so much going on, pamper days, trips to the in-house cinema to name a few, our mother is happy and settled in her new home, and we honestly couldn’t recommend Oakeshott highly enough.

My mother went into Oakeshott House last year and has loved it since the moment she arrived. The facilities are luxurious, more like a 5-star hotel. The staff could not be more helpful, always going above the level of care expected (from hairdressing to manicures!) and the food is excellent with plenty
of choice to satisfy even the fussiest of palates. My mum keeps saying, "you could not have found a better place for me to live!"

My parents moved into Oakeshott House in October. The home is finished to an excellent standard, with modern airy spacious rooms and fantastic facilities. The level of care and support that both Mum and Dad have received has been outstanding. The staff make a huge effort to get to know them personally
and tailor all support to their individual needs. Every member of staff is part of the family that cares for them making Oakeshott House a home from home. It has been hugely reassuring to see them both looked after so well and has given us all as a family peace of mind. Thank you to the manager and her fantastic team.

We have been so impressed and reassured with the high-quality care that Oakeshott House provide. The home has such a warm and welcoming feel. The environment is bright and attractive. We can't speak highly enough of the staff, the professionalism and dedication of every team member shines through. Mum

The manager and her team put a lot of care and effort into ensuring Mum and Dad quickly settled into their new home. When visiting, Covid safety procedures are always followed and we're made to feel welcome with tea and delicious cakes. The home is decorated to the standard of a quality hotel and is
maintained in excellent condition by the cleaning staff. My parents enjoy their meals and the variety that an occasional 'take-away' gives them. We hope that in the coming months the number of residents will increase and allow the beautiful social areas (cinema, tea room, hairdressing salon) to be used to the full.

While early days for both the home and our mother’s residency, the team are doing a fantastic job in providing a world-class care facility resulting in our mother smiling and exercising her sense of humour not seen in months prior her admission to Oakeshott House, following an extended period rehabilitation
and assessment.
On our first visit following her Covid quarantine period she praised the food and care telling us she was being treated like the Queen. The stimulation that she is enjoying with participation in the varying activities unquestionably has helped reduce the effects of her dementia.
Her room and facilities are finished to a very high standard while providing a safe and secure environment have a homely rather than clinical feel.
We are now looking forward to regular visits.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.539)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.539) out of 10 for Oakeshott House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.856 for Oakeshott House is calculated as follows: ( (146 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 167 Ratings = 4.856
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.683 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakeshott House is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 registered maximum number of service users is 16.8. 14 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
