I have seen great improvements over the past few months with more activities and objects to view by residents.
They all seem to have settled well.
The staff have made an effort to get to know the person behind the condition, finding out what her interests were and tailoring their approach to her individual needs and personality. All members of staff make the time to stop and smile or have a chat as they go past. Instead of simply reacting to the inevitable Alzheimers mood swings they anticipate difficult situations, read the signs and divert attention, thus avoiding the distress and frustration which had taken hold of mum before she arrived at Pilling Nursing Home. This level of care is priceless. Each time I visit I come away happy in the knowledge that mum is being looked after by people who want the best for her and will do all they can to make her happy as well as looking after her physical needs.
The change is remarkable and a joy to see. More importantly, she is happy in her surroundings and shows genuine affection for residents and the caring staff. It's very reassuring to see how well she has fitted in and how welcome they have made mum and all of her visitors feel too.
They have numerous activities on offer from manicures to cake decorating and regular varied entertainment which the residents clearly enjoy.
From the quality of food (notably the homemade afternoon cakes) to special occasions from Halloween to Xmas being noted and celebrated. Worthy praise especially to the staff who came in on Xmas day to visit the residents even though it was their day off.
The staff are attentive, mindful of mum's condition and always treat her with the utmost of respect.
My father has been under the care of Pilling Nursing Home for the past 9 months, after careful consideration, we decided to take dad here. We are so pleased we did and can't praise this home enough. Although my dad has Alzheimer's and no two days are the same for him, the care each day he receives is faultless.
You can tell he is loved by all and you can see it in dad with how he responds back to all the staff. In his own little world, he is happy and contented here and loves them all. Believe me, this is a big plus for us to know this and see it in dad, this includes carers, nursing staff, domestic and all concerned in the running of the home. This is a loving and warm home where everyone can't do enough and where we as a family, can leave our loved one at peace knowing he is getting the utmost care.
I visited many nursing homes. Was pleased to find Pilling Nursing Home was opening again with a compleat new revamp, under new owners and management. My husband was the first in on April 12th, 2017. I have nothing but praise for the genuine care shown by both staff and management. It’s clean, welcoming, friendly, nothing to much trouble. Food is excellent. I am fully involved in his care plan. The environment is stimulating and this is ongoing. There’s entertainment and outings. Two lounges one as a quiet area. Good garden at the back of the house. Bedrooms good size well equipped. Manager and her support team always approachable no matter how busy, will listen and act upon what is discussed. I feel there support and care for me also.
They made Christmas Day really special.
Everyone got a present from Father Christmas.
They organise trips out and entertainment.
The home is clean and warm.
When the weather is nice they have a nice garden to sit in.
My overall impression of Pilling Nursing Home is very positive. My mother has been a resident for 4 months and despite dementia problems, has settled in nicely. There seems to be an adequate number of staff, all with a cheery nature. Nothing really to fault. All in all, a well-run nursing home.
