Primrose House provides a safe and happy environment for its residents, with 24-hour continuous Heat-Exchange ventilation, underfloor heating, and a sprinkler fire safety system in place throughout the whole building.

We have been more than satisfied with the care given to my aunt. She has received individual care, aided to take part in activities and been included in trips with other residents. Visiting arrangements have been adapted to suit our needs. Communication with Primrose House has been good, emails being sent when appropriate and phone calls for more urgent issues. Staff have been able to arrange transport and carer when we have been unable to attend hospital appointments and feedback has been given. We would recommend this care home for the care shown to those with dementia as well as physical needs.

My mum has been in the home now for 5 years, she has been extremely well looked after and I am very pleased with the standard of care. The only thing that does bother me is the different staff coming and going we just get to know someone and the next time we go they have left.

Thank you for leaving this really positive review of your experience with our care team and care home at Primrose House, Westward Ho!, North Devon. It's lovely to read that your mum has been at the home for 5 years and has been extremely well looked after. We hear what you say with regard to staff turnover, and can only admit that since building and opening Primrose House back in 2016 staffing and recruitment have been a real challenge. The home was getting well established and 'on its feet' then along came Covid etc. I'm pleased to say that throughout we have had a dedicated core team who have been supported with agency carers when needed. We have been very careful to ensure that we have the same few agency carers whenever needed and, to all intents and purposes, they would have appeared to be members of the team. We have recently seen a vast improvement in the numbers and quality of new applicants for carers and senior carer roles at Primrose House.
Everyone at Primrose House are very helpful and kind. The food has greatly improved over the last few months. Although there has not been any entertainment for a very long time, I have been informed a new lady will be starting shortly to provide this.

It's really lovely to read that everyone at Primrose House are very helpful and kind and that food has improved. I can't agree with the comment regarding activities - we have regular activities and a very full schedule - as can be seen in the regular newsletters that the team at Primrose House create. The Covid period has meant that we have had fewer outside entertainers coming in - but with Covid restrictions lifting and recent spring boosters we are more able to go back to these as well. Activities are provided by all team members - we have an activity co-ordinator starting soon - who will further enhance the activity provision, of course.Thank you for this feedback. Kindest regards.

I have been planning to move my mum to a Devon care home for some time. Primrose House came highly recommended and throughout the admissions process (which has been complicated by Covid) I have found the staff to be very friendly, supportive, efficient and helpful. The manager has really gone the extra mile and, although Mum has only been there a short time, it is clear that all the staff are working hard to help her to settle in and to address her individual needs. I feel very happy that I have made a good choice for Mum.

We have always been exceptionally pleased with my mother's care home. The staff are exemplary and show kindness and compassion to my mum. She is really well looked after and is treated with both empathy and dignity. We feel extremely fortunate to have found this home.

It's great to hear that your mum is so well cared for. I'm sorry to hear about the clothes getting mixed up and agree this is not good enough. I will contact the care home to speak to the care home manager about ways to ensure that this does not happen. This isn't complicated, we just need to ensure that all clothes are labelled after all.
