My sister in law needed to receive pallative care, and we found Quarry House. What a blessing that was. After months of turmoil in and out of hospital when she moved in she immediatley felt calm, loved and relaxed. Although she only stayed 5 weeks the care she and us as a family received was second to none. In the most difficult of times, staff were always on hand, to laugh or cry with us. Her final days were made so much easier being here and surrounded by such excellent staff.

Forever grateful for finding this gem of a home.

Staff were excellent. Helpful, courteous, caring, ensuring dads last few days were as pain free and comfortable as they could be.

Special thanks to Grace who was always responsive, caring and most importantly listened to our concerns and responded accordingly.

My mum has been living on Ocean Floor at Quarry House for just over 18 months and I cannot praise the staff and carers highly enough. She has no mobility and is cared for in bed and everyone makes sure that her every need is catered for. The food is plentiful and interesting, when there are animal visits they always make sure my mum is visited too, staff frequently pop into her room to make sure she's ok and have a a quick chat and at festive times she is given cards and gifts, the lovely girls paint her nails for her and a couple of people help her with her phone if she is struggling with the buttons. The managers John and Richard ensure I'm kept up to speed with Dr and hospital appointments and generally keep me informed of her well being.

When I visit everyone is cheery and friendly, from the reception staff to the cleaning team, nothing is too much trouble. Mum says she feels safe and well cared for and even though she misses her home, she says it's like living in a posh hotel!

Recently visited Quarry House to visit a friend I've known for years for their birthday.
Staff on the Ocean ward were helpful and friendly.
I witnessed staff interacting with residents all were laughing and dancing in the lounge area for the birthday celebrations.
I had some questions about the assessment process for discharge to assess my friend was on following a lengthy hospital stay. Spoke with two managers who were helpful and informative about this process.

Very clean home . Staff on reception welcoming.

The times I visited my sister, I was very pleased with what I saw. With the excellent staff, cleanliness, rooms lovely nice and bright. She enjoyed her entertainment.

Only thing to me was her dinner on a tea plate it kept sliding off the plate but a bigger plate would have helped her. Apart from that I can't fault anything, I was very happy with the service you gave my sister. I thank you for that. Excellent care home

My dad stayed at nursing home for around a month. I have to little disappointed with the service as the team on the day dad was taken didn't call 999 when blood was visible within the urine bag. It's not all staff but clearly nursing team should have contacted the emergency team asap rather than calling GP. Little disappointed with the service provided, even if the initial stay was ok.

My sister, aged 66 was fast tracked to Quarry House in March 2024 from hospital as she had end stage COPD and could not go home. She was given 3 months to live.
My siblings and I were given two Nursing Homes to view, the first we left and all cried, as it was somewhere we could not see our sister ending her days. The second home to view was Quarry House. From the moment we walked through the door we all felt we could breathe. It had a welcoming feel, light and airy, so important for a chest patient.
We were greeted by a member of the nursing team who was kind, compassionate and warm. Everyone we encountered on our visit were kind and answered all our queries, which I had lots of, being a former District Nurse. We chose Quarry House for our sister, where she lived for 22 months due to the care she recieved
All staff treated her with compassion, warmth, like holding her hand through the difficult moments.

We can never thank the staff enough for all their support to our sister and us.

When you walk in the front door, you are immediately made welcome and the whole atmosphere of the place is peaceful and running on very well oiled wheels!
The nursing staff and the carers are all very friendly and helpful, not just to the patient but also to patient's next of kin.

The food is good and there are plenty of activities for patients to get involved in, including trips out in the mini bus

I liked the fact that there was no smell as you walked in. Very clean. I found staff some were better than others, also a bit of a language barrier. Over three months we did built up a rapport with them and I must say at all times they were very kind and respectful to my husband.

Mum was at Quarry House for all of March and some of April for respite care. Quarry House was fantastic! Had one issue in first week but spoke to staff and it was rectified straight away. The level of care from the cleaning team to the kitchen team to the carers to the nurses was incredible. They made Mum feel so welcome and they made the rest of the family feel welcome every time we visited! There were a few exemplary team members there who treated my mum like she was their own mum. I’m not allowed to use names on here, but they will know who they are. An example of how switched on they are was when a fantastic nurse spotted my mum's leg was slightly swollen and hot. Within a day Mum was sent for a scan to show there was a blood clot. Medication was sorted straight away and everything on the mend. Fantastic attention to detail! Mum, myself and brother was gutted that Mum had to leave for another, permanent home, and we would have stayed if we could have afforded it. Highly recommend Quarry House!

What a wonderful place. You can feel the warm welcome and care as soon as you arrive. Dad has dementia, but has been treated with dignity and respect and involved in his care since day one. Everyone has made every effort to get to know him, his likes and dislikes and to make him as comfortable and content as possible. Dad likes people around him, so the carers and activities ladies have encouraged, supported and involved him with all the daily activities (quizzes, games, animal visits, entertainment, film shows, gentle exercise) and also visits to interesting places in their minibus. The carers will sit and talk, read or look at his photo albums to keep him engaged. Everyone who works there will speak to the residents by name as they pass. The rooms are bright, airy, clean and spacious. The management are fully approachable and open to suggestions and visitors are always made welcome with their open-door policy. We are so glad we found Quarry House and fully recommend it to others.

From the moment Mum was brought under your care we were impressed, we had previous care home experience with another care home group.
The attention to detail was evident when we brought in clothes, and you took them away to mark and hang in wardrobe.

Room was decorated beautifully, big picture windows with natural light, great purpose for needs bathroom - homely. The staff were fantastic and said we could visit at any time - and they were welcoming - every aspect of Mum's health was attended to. She never wanted to go back to hospital - her final resting place and felt like her home - ocean - grateful forever.

We looked at a few care homes but this one certainly stood out to us. From the guided tour to the assessment then admittance, the staff could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Quarry House has such a homely feel to it. The staff go above and beyond to make sure the residents feel well looked after. They take great care to find out their likes and dislikes. There are lots of activities/day trips if the residents choose to participate. When visiting you are always made to feel welcome. Quarry House is highly recommended.

Tina Job Title:Nurse ManagerJoined: 2019

I started my career in nursing in 1979 working as a nursing assistant in a long-stay hospital in Bromham in Bedfordshire. I then moved to Bristol in 1985 to complete my nurse training, working and living in the nurses’ home at Hortham Hospital for people with learning disabilities.

I had found my vocation.

I managed my first nursing home as a registered manager of Clifton Park in 1997 – this was a 21-bed nursing home where I stayed for ten years.

I continued to work for the Brandon Trust in various managerial roles until I retired in 2017. At this point in my career, I had worked in the nursing field for a total of 38 years.

I lasted 6 weeks of retirement – it just did not suit me! In my search for a new challenge, I found Quarry House, my forever job. I love the values and the philosophy of the organisation. Geoff Crocker, our Chairman, who interviewed me for the post inspired me beyond belief. He was so passionate about the Bristol Care Homes group, that I just wanted to work at Quarry House. The intimacy of Bristol Care Homes radiates across the teams who work for the homes across the group.

Bristol Care Homes invests in people they are interested in their staff and the residents they support.

My hobbies are holidays, renovating my cottage, and my grandchildren. One day I will try retirement again; until then I remain in my forever role at Quarry House.

Shelley Job Title:Deputy Nurse ManagerJoined: 2022

I am an experienced Registered Nurse who joined Bristol Care Homes as a Deputy Home Manager in December 2022.

My experience stems from working in a clinical setting as a Registered Nurse and ward manager in a specialised service for adults with an acquired brain injury requiring care and treatment with complex physical and cognitive impairments and challenging behaviours.

Having this experience has enabled me to gain a wealth of clinical knowledge and transferable skills that will enable me to enhance my role at Quarry House and ensure that the residents receive person-centred care and support the staff to deliver this.

I am very personable and enjoy having the opportunity to work within a multi-professional setting.

I enjoy watching quizzes, historical dramas especially Poldark, and watching any film with Keanu Reeve in.
