The staff are loving, upbeat and welcoming. My mother is always treated with dignity and is well cared for. The environment is wonderful. Medicine and GP appointments are handled very well. There is a mix of mature and younger staff and they are all English speaking. Very positive overall. We are happy
our mother is well cared for.

Excellent care home. We searched for several years to find the perfect care home for our 94-year-old mother. Rossendale House was certainly worth the wait! Beautiful surroundings. Tastefully and thoughtfully decorated rooms. Our mother's room looks out onto a garden terrace which she used almost daily
during the summer months. Everything is kept in tip-top condition with a friendly cleaning team who pop in on a daily basis. The food is homemade and completely delicious.
The carers are absolutely brilliant! An example of this would be when Mum had a fall. The carers immediately went into protocol mode and oversaw all aspects of her care. We were particularly impressed with one of the carers who stayed several hours beyond her shift to ensure that all was well. Above and beyond typical care. Management has been receptive and proactive to any and all requests. Highly recommend Rossendale House!

Mum has been a resident since May of this year. I visit at least once a week and believe that I have met all the carers.
I can honestly say that they all strike me as genuine caring professionals. I have noticed the frequency with which they check on Mum, and anticipate care items that need to be attended
to. Mum loves the food (absolute quality, which I can personally attest to). There is also a general feeling of space and light, which I believe lifts the general mood.

Having not been on holiday for twelve months, my husband and I were desperate for a break but needed to ensure my mum was looked after in order to be able to relax and enjoy our break. From the initial visit to Rossendale House Care Home followed by taking Mum up for coffee and care and a look around,
I felt certain she would be cared for and treated with compassion and dignity and she has certainly been so well looked after and enjoyed her stay and has said she would go back and stay again which is so nice to hear. A big thank you to everyone there - what a team.

My mother-in-law came to live here in June. I can only say how impressed we are with the home, clean, modern and well-equipped. The staff are excellent, can't say how grateful we are. She's being looked after in such a nice environment. The trips out are great for them all too. A pleasure to visit.

I love this care home. The environment is a wonderful mix of a home, a posh hotel and a luxury care home. The staff are so caring, and the entertainment is great - my grandaughter loves to visit her great-grandmother here, as so much is happening!
Whenever I visit, I am happy to see my mum safe, cared
for, well-nourished and with all her individual and personal needs attended to. She walks much more than she did, pops out into the garden, and has her hair and nails done. Her room is beautiful too. I sleep easy at night, knowing her life has improved so much.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.754)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.754) out of 10 for Rossendale House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.879 for Rossendale House is calculated as follows: ( (156 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 174 Ratings = 4.879
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rossendale House is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Before joining Care UK, I was a registered manager with another care home provider, but I’m really enjoying the change. As well as a host of mandatory training, I have also completed training in dementia, mental health first aid and palliative care.

In my previous role, I implemented numerous improvements which led to a positive outcome with the Care Quality Commission. It was incredibly rewarding to be able to support the team and ultimately provide a better experience for residents and their families.

We are here to ensure that residents receive safe, high-quality, person-centred care. To do this role effectively, you need to be compassionate and empathetic, ensuring residents, relatives, and colleagues feel listened to, valued, and supported. Strong leadership skills are essential to guide the team, make informed decisions, and maintain high standards of care.

It is also important to remain calm under pressure, especially when managing challenging situations or emergencies, while continuing to provide reassurance to others. Good communication skills are vital for working collaboratively with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and colleagues. Fairness and professionalism help to build trust and create a positive working environment where everyone feels respected. Finally, being friendly and approachable encourages open communication and supports team morale.

For me, the best part of the day is seeing happy colleagues and happy residents. A positive atmosphere within the home makes such a difference to everyone’s wellbeing, and it is rewarding to see residents engaged, smiling, and feeling comfortable in their environment.

I also enjoy seeing staff working well together and feeling appreciated – a team that feels supported means better outcomes for residents. When both residents and colleagues are enjoying their day, it reflects the caring and welcoming culture we aim to create within the home. What makes me most proud in my role is seeing residents live life to the full, knowing they feel happy, safe, and cared for.

Outside of work, I enjoy going for walks and spending quality time travelling with my family in our camper van. I also love caring for my pets, which keeps me busy and brings me a lot of happiness and relaxation.
