With extensive nursing experience, my journey began over 20 years ago as a Carer in a care home in Bristol. I later trained as a Nurse and, after qualifying and gaining a range of experiences, transitioned into community nursing. I worked in Northamptonshire and Powys for 12 years before becoming a specialist Lymphoedema Nurse, a role I held for six years.
After nearly 20 years in the NHS, I was ready for a change. My experience visiting residential homes—both as a Community Nurse and a Specialist Nurse—gave me valuable insight into care home settings, making this career transition a natural fit. Though this is my first management role, I bring a wealth of clinical experience and a passion for learning.
As Clinical Lead at The Oaks, I have the privilege of remaining hands-on with residents while also working behind the scenes to ensure we deliver the highest standard of care. I am incredibly proud to work here, alongside a wonderful team of nurses and carers who share the same dedication and commitment.
Caring for the elderly has always been close to my heart. At just 14 years old, I volunteered with Age Concern, visiting older people in the community. Working here has reminded me of the profound impact even small gestures can have on those who are no longer as independent as they once were. Seeing the joy and laughter of our residents is the most rewarding part of my role, and I feel truly privileged to play a part in shaping services that provide them with dignity, comfort, and exceptional care.
