My mother (93) came to this care centre a month ago after falling and breaking her femur. As she had lived with me for 5 years, I was very concerned that she would not adapt.
I can no longer care for her full time as I have health issues.
She has settled very well and has enjoyed the attention of
the lovely staff. Her room is beautiful. The whole place is very clean and the food is presented in an intimate dining room with clean table linen. The guests are treated as such, with dignity and there are plenty of stimulating activities.

My father in law moved in because his freedom at his previous address was restricted making him feel depressed and lacking self-worth. Having moved his mental state has improved and he has regained his sense of freedom and is treated with dignity and respect which we value greatly.
He has mobility
problems and an acquired brain injury which makes it difficult for him to find words and phrases to make himself understood. The staff at The Wharf are aware of his difficulty and fully discuss and listen to my wife and I so that they can understand what he says avoiding any frustration when he is searching for words and phrases. This fact has gone a long way in improving his quality of life and self-worth.
The Wharf is like an all-inclusive 5-star hotel, not a care home. The facilities are easily accessible and participation in activities are encouraged and he participates through choice whereas before he would not and he is now able to enjoy the social aspect they provide for him.

The Wharf really stands out from the crowd.


There is always a calm caring ambience about the environment and in fact from the moment you step into The Wharf it is like stepping into a four-star hotel, not a nursing home, with its beautiful decoration, plentiful resources and not even the slightest

hint of a ‘care home smell’ or look in any way.


Dad really looks forward to his Respite breaks meaning not only do we get to go on holiday guilt free but we also do not need to worry, knowing very well that he is happy and well cared for by conscientious staff with interesting activities to occupy his days and gorgeous freshly home cooked food every day followed by a comfortable restful nights sleep.”

My 83 year old husband who has multiple health problems and disabilities received a week's respite care at the Wharf Care Centre recently. I cannot praise the staff highly enough. They were all kind, friendly, welcoming and very caring throughout his stay. The home itself is well designed and the dining
room and 2 lounges are particularly attractive and welcoming.
As this was my husband's first week in respite care I did not go away immediately and visited daily for the first 4 days. My husband has vascular dementia and was a little confused about what was happening but soon settled down.
I was able to have 3 days away with my daughter and family, my first proper break from full time caring for 3 years, and have subsequently felt the benefit of this very much needed break.

We both look forward to my husband's next week's respite care at The Wharf in late August when I plan to join my daughter and family for a holiday.

My elderly stepfather is a full-time resident at The Wharf and has been there since very early 2019 after a heavy fall at home following some physical health problems and hospitalisation. I cannot praise the nursing (and non-nursing staff) enough. All have been exceptional in the care they are providing
to my stepfather. With their help, he is recovering both physically and mentally from the trauma of his fall and they always have time for a chat and a cup of tea. Every day there are activities to keep the residents both interested and stimulated.
In addition, The Wharf itself is a purpose built facility and is absolutely immaculate both inside and out. All the resident's rooms boast colour coordinated bedding, soft furnishings and furniture, and an impressive en-suite bathroom. There are dining rooms, lounges and even a cinema! All in all an extremely impressive development and my stepfather is very happy.

Hannah

Hannah Byng

Job Title: Home Manager

Hannah was promoted internally to Home Manager at The Wharf Care Home, having previously been the Deputy here.


She has a wide variety of experience in nursing, including Medical HDU and Urology departments in a hospital and a Domicillary Nurse Manager.


She enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 adult children and being creative with skills in knitting and crochet, and loves to spend time gardening.

Emma

Emma White

Job Title: Deputy Home Manager

Joined: 2025

Emma has joined the team at The Wharf as the Deputy Manager and brings a significant amount of experience and skill to support the clinical team.


She has been a registered nurse for over 30 years, and has spent most of her working life in community care homes looking after adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs. She is passionate about excellence in end-of-life care and has a Professional Practice in Palliative Care Diploma.


In her spare time, Emma loves walking and can often be seen in Stourport or in the Malvern Hills. She is also a pianist, but says she is very rusty, so can't be listed as one of the home entertainers.

Deborah

Deborah Jones

Job Title: Business Administrator

Joined: 2022

Debs has been the Business Administrator at The Wharf since April 2022. She has an abundance of experience working within the private and public sectors, such as the NHS.


In 2015 Debs made the transition into working within the health and social care sector holding various roles as a Business Administrator, HR and recruitment specialist.


During her spare time holidaying, relaxing with friends and family is always high on the agenda for this social butterfly. A keen tennis player and equestrienne, a lady that's full of sophistication but is so much fun has been welcomed with open arms to our team.
