Our father was admitted to the dementia plus unit at Whittle Hall due to the severeness and complexity of his ten year Alzheimer's battle. I do not have sufficient words to describe the unbelievable care my father received from the wonderful staff. Due to their professionalism and care, he was able
to live his final year in a happy, calm and dignified manner surrounded by staff who truly cared for him in the truest sense of the word. The difference this also made to our family is something we will never be able to thank them enough for.

My husband has been a resident for a few weeks. The staff went out of their way to welcome him and help him to settle in. They are very professional, caring and kind. If we ask any questions, they provide us with the information we need, without hesitation. The home looks lovely but because of the virus,
we have not yet been able to go inside but hopefully, we will be able to do that very soon. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

Mum has been a resident at Whittle Hall for 2 years and 3 months. She settled into the home immediately and has always been very contented. The care she has received has always been first class and the facilities are akin to a 5-star hotel. The staff and management have been wonderful and displayed
incredible dedication during the pandemic. Highly recommended.

An outstanding nursing home. Wonderful, kind, caring, compassionate and professional staff. Immaculately maintained premises with facilities perfectly designed and equipped to accommodate the resident’s needs and provide the best possible care in the most appropriate manner in a warm, welcoming and
homely environment. From the very first telephone contact with the home, we received exemplary service going above and beyond our expectations in so many ways. My brother and I cannot thank the manager and all her colleagues enough for all their efforts in caring for our father and his complex needs. An exceptional home in every way. Our grateful thanks. Highly recommended.

I cannot thank the entire Whittle Hall team enough for the excellent care that they gave to my mum. The care manager is excellent, she looked after us from day one and ensured that all of my mum's complex needs were met. It was extremely comforting to know that Mum was in such capable and caring hands,
me and my family felt totally at ease in the knowledge that we had not only found the perfect home for Mum but were delighted and relieved that we had eventually found the perfect loving and happy environment for her. The entire team across all of the roles excelled every day. Everybody could not do enough for us as a family and for Mum. The commitment and compassion that the team had was solid it never wavered even in difficult circumstances. Their dedication was outstanding. The sheer delight in Mum's face spoke volumes. She loved spending time with all of the team and each one went out of their way to make her feel safe and cared for. It was lovely to watch how loved and cherished Mum was.

Our experience of Whittle Hall has been excellent from the first moment my husband entered the care home. The regular updates by phone, video call, and social media have been a great help, especially during the lockdown. I am very pleased we chose Whittle Hall for my husband.

It was a distressing time for all the family when Mum became so ill that she needed care which we could not provide. We visited a number of nursing homes looking for the right place for Mum and how lucky we were to come across Whittle Hall. Mum settled in well. The staff were very caring and supportive,
to all the family, not just Mum. Throughout Mum's 2 1/2 years stay at Whittle Hall, we were happy with all aspects of Mum's care. I would not hesitate to recommend Whittle Hall to anyone looking for excellent care for a member of their family. Thank you, Whittle Hall, for everything.

During lockdown and the uncertainty around our relative's health, we as a family were kept updated every step of the way. When Dad had an assessment with the SALT team, we were sent a copy and also had a phone call. We received video calls weekly with Dad, 5 minutes means so much to us and hopefully
him too!

Mum was a resident at Whittle Hall January 2018 - May 2020. Whittle was a very new care home, and after initial problems with staffing levels, the current manager turned it around. The staff are an absolute credit to the company. Nothing was too much trouble. Mum had the best care possible for the last
three years of her life. The care provided was excellent and also the support to us as a family. We will always be part of the Whittle Hall family. Staff who were a duty at end of life were exceptional.

I would like to thank the staff, nurses and care workers, especially in 'Orchard'. The nurses and carers engaged in light friendly conversation with my husband, as they tendered to his care, which relaxed him and put his mind at ease. They were always helpful and created a pleasant atmosphere. One nurse
went the extra mile and was exceedingly kind, even visiting my husband in the hospital before he passed away. I would also like to thank the care home manager. She was very professional, helpful, and kind, especially when I needed support. Despite having a lot to attend to, she always took the time to speak to me, which I greatly appreciated. Whenever I was unable to visit my husband, I knew he would be well looked after, which was very comforting. Overall, Whittle Hall had high standards of care of which I was impressed with.
Whittle Hall has a large, pleasant reception area where you can enjoy tea and coffee with your family and friends. It is extremely clean and excellently maintained. Having spent time in previous care homes there was a huge contrast in quality. I would highly recommend Whittle Hall.

I would like to take this opportunity to say how myself and my son value and appreciate all of the hard work and the professionalism of all of the staff at Whittle Hall. Since my wife arrived, the level of care and attention they show is, without doubt, the best I could have wished for. The staff always
go that extra mile to ensure her care and well being, which is extremely satisfying, to the point that the smile on her face proves that she could not be in any better care anywhere else. Whittle Hall is a beautiful place that is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, the meals are varied, always hot and taste very nice. We feel that my wife has now got an extended family around her all of the time and nothing is ever too much to ask for. I cannot praise Whittle Hall enough, helping us to cope with what was a very upsetting time. Myself and my son will always be extremely grateful.

This care home is, in my opinion, one of the best in the North West of England. My Father stayed here from January to March when he sadly passed away. My Father, in his advanced dementia state, was able to clearly tell me on many occasions how he felt safe and happy.
Having spent time in other nursing
homes over the North West, this home was by far the best.
A wonderfully clean and caring environment, the staff went above and beyond to care for the residents, tending to their every need. My Father was always clean and shaven, bathed regularly and well fed. The food was of restaurant quality and the home itself like a hotel.
The staff are led by a wonderful caring manager whose professional approach ensured me we had made the right decision.
I would highly, highly recommend this home to any family looking for first class care knowing their loved ones are treated with dignity and kindness.
Thank you to everyone that looked after my Father.

We found Whittle Hall excellent, this is not a budget care home but a high-end care home.
The whole family could not find fault from the cleaning staff to management.
The residents are treated as hotel guests and the food OMG was amazing real home cooked quality.
Whittle Hall and London & Manchester
Health Care is a must to visit for your elderly parents also being minutes from the M60, it’s worth the travel to know your loved ones are treated with dignity and respect in a hotel quality environment.

Extremely friendly greeting on entering the home to visit a loved one. My sister was very settled and happy and fond of her accommodation. She was beautifully dressed and spotlessly clean.
The ambience throughout the premises was relaxed, homely, quietly organised. Security was discreet but very adequate.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.638)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.638) out of 10 for Whittle Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.800 for Whittle Hall is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.8
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.838 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whittle Hall is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 registered maximum number of service users is 14.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.8 = 0.338
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
