Watching my mum settle into Whittle Hall has been one of the biggest reliefs of my life. From the very first day, the staff treated her not just as a resident, but as a person with a history, preferences, and dignity. They took the time to learn what calms her, what makes her smile, and even the little
routines that make her feel safe.
The atmosphere is warm and genuinely homely. There's always a sense of calm with fun and laughter in the background, and staff who are always caring and attentive. Whenever I visit, Mum is comfortable - whether that's listening to the TV/music she loves, engaged in the many regular activities or simply sitting and just watching the world go by.

What stands out most is the communication. I'm kept informed, listened to, and reassured. Knowing she's cared for by people who are both highly skilled and deeply compassionate has lifted an enormous weight from my shoulders. Whittle Hall hasn't just cared for my mum; they've supported our whole family.

Nothing is too much trouble for the carers. Cheryl and javid the nurses are very caring and will talk and explain things . The foid i see is more than adequate but my mum is very fussy. I take soup in and have requested omelettes from the chef. If i have any problems the staff will always talk things
through. My mum is 92 and it has taken her a while to settle but our experience is second to no e

In a time of family distress Whittle Hall staff have been sympathetic and caring.
From reception through to the front line carers.
Given the difficulties that can be presented by the day to day managing and caring for the residents they do a great job.

My wife moved here from hospital in April 2024. She settled in immediately, she was in Ocean 2 unit for dementia plus care. The care and compassion shown to her was amazing. All the staff from senior management down knew her name and would speak to her when passing, happily allowing her to 'assist'
them in their duties. I was always informed about her health and any activities she had enjoyed. Sadly she died in December and during that period both of us received amazing care and compassion, making a very difficult time much easier. I would totally recommend this home to anyone needing residential care.

My dad has been living at Whittle Hall for just over a week now he seems to be settling in well. As his dementia journey has progressed and after spending 13 months at a different nursing home he now needs dementia plus care.
I think all the staff at Whittle Hall are doing an amazing job everyone I
have met so far has been extraordinarily good at their job, staying calm and professional in difficult situations. They treat all of the residents with respect and dignity.
It really does have a home from home feel about it.
I will never be able to thank you all enough for everything you do.

Whittle Hall has provided the best care for my husband who can be difficult at times due to his condition. I know healthcare staffing is a difficult area but I do wish there was more consistency with this area. I feel the whole staff team gives their all.

My husband has been at Whittle Hall for a year now. Although he and I struggled with him being in a dementia-plus unit, time has helped us to get to know how everything works and getting to know the staff and see how he is cared for gives me confidence to know that he is able to be kept safe. He has
good interaction with staff, and I am happy that this company is always looking to improve the care, activities and liaison with family.

My dad was lucky enough to live at Whittle Hall for just over 3 years. Even though the home is owned by a company you wouldn't know it as it feels family run, loving, caring, staff who all feel like a big family. They made the whole family welcome, not just my dad. Dad recently passed away and we will
never forget the love, support, and advice we got. So glad he passed at Whittle Hall.

We cannot praise the staff of Whittle Hall enough, our Dad was on Ocean 1 for 18 months and we could sleep at night knowing he was so well cared for. The last week of Dads life was spent at the home and the staff went above and beyond. The care they gave Dad at this difficult time was exceptional from
checking in on us every hour to making sure Dad was clean shaven, change of clothes twice a day and washing even though he was in and out of consciousness. They treated him with the respect he deserved.
Thank you feels like it would never be enough.

All the staff and management of Whittle Hall Care Home go above and beyond in all aspects of caring for my wife, especially the carers on the sunshine unit who have the hardest of jobs dealing with the many varieties of Alzheimers and Dementia. I don’t know how they do it day in and day out but I can’t
express in words how much my daughter and I really appreciate what they do. I would be lost if it wasn’t for them they are all angels. A few weeks ago my wife had to be rushed to hospital with suspected sepsis and if it wasn’t for their care and prompt action we might have lost her. Thank you Whittle Hall.

Whittle Hall made a very difficult journey much easier for our family. From regular contact pre-residing there to the very end. Activities are engaging and stimulating for residents. The staff are exceptional, they go above and beyond because they genuinely care. They embrace you all as part of their
Whittle Hall family. The home prides itself on knowledge, passion and compassion without them our family member wouldn't have had the quality of life he did.

My husband was admitted to the Sunshine Unit at Whittle Hall in April 2022 after being discharged from the hospital due to several illnesses. He then needed 24-hour care. I can honestly say that his carers have worked wonders to get him back on his feet. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are
kind and compassionate and go the extra mile to give dignity to the residents in such a difficult situation. It is a credit to all the staff, from cleaners, activity staff, laundry staff, catering staff, and especially the carers who work incredibly hard. The manager is always available if you have any concerns. As well as caring for the residents, the staff always ensure that the families of the residents are supported at all times.

Wow - where to start with Whittle Hall. My dad is in the dementia plus unit and he has settled so well already. Whittle Hall provides 5-star treatment, if not more. Every member of staff is friendly and very welcoming, makes you feel relaxed and that secure feeling that my dad is being well cared for
and looked after. Management is out of this world and makes you feel like one big family and supported. I can't thank Whittle Hall enough already. Very clean, treated with dignity, always updated on him and a very secure home. Well done and thank you.

Just want to say a massive thank you to the manager and all the staff on Orchard Unit. My beloved Mum passed away on 30.5.22 after having lived at Whittle Hall for over three years. During that time the love, care and support she received have been incredible. Obviously, when the pandemic came it was
heartbreaking not being able to visit her but I knew that Mum was being cared for and protected as if she were a family member. She has always been treated with dignity and respect and any concerns which have arisen have been dealt with in a calm, professional manner. Initially, it was hard for the family to recognise that Mum needed to live in a care home, but as she struggled with her early dementia it became imperative. The early days were tough; Mum packed up her belongings every day but gradually she settled. I will be forever indebted to Whittle Hall for ensuring that the last years of Mum's life were spent happily at a place where she has been truly loved and valued. Thank you, Whittle Hall!

When our mother died in April 2020, it became clear that Dad's dementia meant he was too confused to live on his own. Because of Covid, no homes were taking new residents. It was the most stressful time of our lives and Dad had to be sectioned to a mental unit that was not ideal. As soon as possible,
Whittle Hall took Dad in and it has been a Godsend. Our worries have gone. He is well cared for, he is safe, well-fed and in the best possible place. I can't recommend Whittle Hall highly enough. Brilliant staff and brilliant management.

This place is not a dementia specialist centre. Seems to be looking for an easy life. Seemed excellent at first but then gave up on my Dad very quickly. Terrible at keeping us informed. Had to chase for information. Gave different views - some saying no issue and others saying different. In the end,
they sent him back to the hospital without informing the family, the hospital told us.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.784)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.784) out of 10 for Whittle Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.711 for Whittle Hall is calculated as follows: ( (62 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.711
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.073 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whittle Hall is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 registered maximum number of service users is 14.8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.8 = 0.473
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
