I attended a Mothering Sunday event at York Manor on 30/3/25 and it was such a lovely, joyful event. It was so nice to sit with my mother and have a "high tea" together, but also to enjoy a social event with other residents and their families. Everything was beautifully presented and the staff were so friendly, going out of their to make sure it was a happy occasion for all. My thanks to all the staff members involved in organising the afternoon. Loved it!

Sadly we didn't have the luxury of shopping around because of our aunt's situation but it has turned out to be the best move in every respect.
From the word go, our aunt was welcomed in as one of the family - and it really does feel just that.
There is a real sense of belonging and community - they actively encourage you to join in with activities if you are able but it is done with a purpose, to promote health and wellbeing.
The residents always have a smile on their faces and for some who may not have family close by this is a blessing to see.
Residents are treats with the utmost care and respect and we couldn't
ask for more.

Thank you so much for your heartfelt feedback. We understand how difficult the decision to transition to a care home can be, especially when your loved ones wish to remain at home. Knowing that York Manor has provided a comfortable and supportive environment for your in-laws truly warms our hearts....
Not only myself, but also my family are happy with our choice of care home. When you reach the stage where your only choice is to place your spouse in a care home, it's a difficult transition for both, albeit for different reasons. It's a comfort to know that my wife is so well cared for by considerate, caring and professional staff, who deal respectfully with issues arising from living with dementia. Things we like include: the decor, frequent and varied activities, the ability to cater for a vegetarian diet, and staff knowing everyone's names, including visitors. York Manor has a positive, friendly and welcoming vibe.

I have been impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff at York Manor since we visited with a view to moving my dad into the home. His assessment and transfer from another York home were handled very efficiently, and my dad was welcomed into his lovely room with a 'welcome to your new home' card and gift. Since Dad has been resident, the staff have all made an enormous effort to meet his, and our requests and needs at all times. Nothing is too much trouble - well done to the whole team!

Security is good. People not allowed to just walk in. Reception staff can see you and only then do they let you in. Also, you have to sign in and say who you have come to see. And you have to wash your hands! Staff also so good, lots of patience with residents. The rooms are all en-suite. It's like a five-star hotel, residents' lounges are fabulous, wide walkways for wheelchairs. Food looks lovely.

Rachel started her career in Health and Social Care in 2009 as a care assistant.
In 2012, she took up the post of senior carer for a small, family-run business consisting of three homes. During her seven years working for that company, she progressed from a level 3 to a level 5 NVQ in Health and Social Care. While working there, she discovered that her passion was complex dementia care, and in 2017, she took on the post of registered manager.
In the summer of 2018, Rachel left to take on different challenges, managing a further two care homes that were in need of lots of support. Rachel loved creating good working relationships with the main stakeholders and improving the reputation of each service.
Rachel always places residents’ best interests at the forefront of her decision-making. She is passionate and dedicated, and it brings her great satisfaction to know that her residents live in a happy home and that her staff work in a happy workplace.
