York Manor Care Home is a new home located in the village of Rawcliffe just outside York. It offers residential care, specialised dementia care and palliative care as well as respite and day care.

The care home has 73 bedrooms with ensuite wet rooms. There are elegant dining rooms and areas to socialise as well as a café and a bistro. There are also three terraces, a sports lounge and an activity room.

Care staff are compassionate and caring and prioritise residents' wellbeing. The home believes strongly in giving residents autonomy over their daily routines in the home and residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible.

My father has now spent about one month at York Manor. Right from the initial very professional show round, seeing the accommodation and the facilities, we realised that this would be an ideal place for him to stay. His admittance to the home went really well on the day and all staff could not have
been more helpful and understanding. This was a good choice for my father as he has settled in really well, considering he has lived in the same house in York for nearly 60 years. Medically he has been made more comfortable by the assistants at the home and his room is exactly what he needed. Comfortable room with a convenient en-suite. Care always to hand with the staff regularly popping in to check all is ok. He does not eat like he used to, but the food he says is good. In addition, the important recognition of all staff on this change for the family at this difficult time has been exceptional. Particularly with regards to my mum who was very reluctant in having someone care at this time.

I have been impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff at York Manor since we visited with a view to moving my dad into the home. His assessment and transfer from another York home were handled very efficiently, and my dad was welcomed into his lovely room with a 'welcome to
your new home' card and gift. Since Dad has been resident, the staff have all made an enormous effort to meet his, and our requests and needs at all times. Nothing is too much trouble - well done to the whole team!

Security is good. People not allowed to just walk in. Reception staff can see you and only then do they let you in. Also, you have to sign in and say who you have come to see. And you have to wash your hands! Staff also so good, lots of patience with residents. The rooms are all en-suite. It's like
a five-star hotel, residents' lounges are fabulous, wide walkways for wheelchairs. Food looks lovely.

My mum entered York Manor Care Home and we are so pleased she did, the staff and all facilities are top class. She has improved in health and peace of mind has been achieved. They take her out to places she mentions, and take every opportunity to make her happy and content. Also the ambience and food

Since my mum-in-law entered York Manor, she has blossomed. The patience and love the staff has shown her is fabulous.
We have agonised over whether to keep Mum at home but honestly we couldn't keep it up and York Manor have made the transition so much easier! So thank you one and all!

This care home is a warm and welcoming home. The staff are friendly and cannot enough for you. The standard is very high and you can see that every member of staff is always willing to help no matter what the reaction of the residents is, whether they appreciate it or not, due to their condition of

I have visited the home on 3 occasions throughout the month and have found the staff to be very approachable, caring and considerate to clients and visitors. Lovely atmosphere and ambience, relaxing and comfortable facilities with more specialised areas for peace and reflection. Felt very happy thinking
our friend was in a safe and caring environment with staff taking extra measures so needs are met.

Rachel French

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

Rachel started her career in Health and Social care in 2009 as a care assistant.


In 2012, she took up the post of senior carer for a small, family-run business consisting of three homes. During her seven years working for that company, she progressed from a level 3 to a level 5 NVQ in Health and Social Care. While working there she discovered that her passion was complex dementia care, and in 2017, she took on the post of registered manager.


In the summer of 2018, Rachel left to take on different challenges, managing a further two care homes that were in need of lots of support. Rachel loved creating good working relationships with the main stakeholders and improving the reputation of each service.


Rachel always places residents’ best interests at the forefront of her decision-making. She is passionate and dedicated, and it brings her great satisfaction to know that her residents live in a happy home and that her staff work in a happy workplace.
