Located at the foot of the picturesque Campsie Hills, Birdston Day Care Centre is a purpose built centre offering up to 40 people transport, companionship, meals and activities seven days a week, all year long.

Designed with the older person in mind the centre is on one level and is fully accessible to wheelchair users. As well as offering the highest standards of care, there's always something to do... tea dances, arts & crafts, day trips... the list is endless, but you can guarantee service users always thoroughly enjoy themselves.

The homely interior, outstanding catering services and friendly environment make it the perfect way to spend the day.

Birdston Day care offer a vital service for those living alone. An opportunity to get out for the day and socialise with others and yes get that all important hair do when needed.


As a relative it is reassuring that mum has a weekly activity built into her diary. Thanks for everything.

friendly staff

My dad attends Birdston twice a week and it has helped him so much. They do so many activities which is excellent. All the staff are lovely in the Day Centre and also when my dad is picked up and dropped off.

My mother has been attending day care for a few weeks now to enable me to have some respite as I am her 24 hour carer. Initially I was apprehensive that she would enjoy the experience. My concerns have proved unfounded. It is a considerable relief to me that she now looks forward to her 'day away',
she very much enjoys meeting the carers, the other people attending day care and also the meals and activities provided. I have found the carers at Birdston to be kind, caring, professional and interested in providing those in their charge with a friendly, positive experience.

Since my mum was diagnosed with dementia we were recommended to try Birdston & we have certainly not been disappointed. My mum looks forward to going & always says what a wonderful day she's had. She can't always remember what they have done, but staff keep you updated & it's great to see the pictures
on their social media page. All the staff are so lovely and patient with my mum & she is very fond of them. They have a range of different activities & days out to keep them stimulated and engaged. It gives my family great peace of mind on the days that she attends as we know she is being well looked after & well fed.

The carers are very helpful and supportive on arrival at the day care centre . when I pick my wife up she comes out with a smile and tells me she had a lovely time. I am very comfortable leaving my wife in the care of Birdston although she never remembers exactly what activities she took part in or
what she had for lunch she tells me she had a lovely time . It is a comfort to me knowing she is well cared for and I thank the staff for their kindness. Thank you for all that you do ,

Our initial interview with the manager helped us to become aware of how the day care works, which was very helpful as this was all new to us. We were made to feel very welcome. Every single member of staff has been kind and caring. There are many activities to keep my husband stimulated. He always comes
home settled having had a good day even though he is never able to tell me what he did!

Hi, I would just like to commend the staff on the excellent care and attention that they give to my mum whilst she visits Birdston Day Care. They are constantly thinking up activities and outings to keep the clients entertained and my mum always comes back happy and more alert when she has been to Birdston
Day Care. I have nothing but praise for the staff and the service who have cared for her for the past three years. Absolutely invaluable service! Thank you. Keep it up!

Excellent Daycare for mum, they can’t do enough for her. Mum has dementia and since starting to go to Birdston on a Saturday, it’s given her a new lease on life, a reason to smile again and I personally feel as if I have my mum back again, can’t thank the team at Birdston enough.

My mum always enjoys her days at Birdston. The staff are very caring and helpful. Mum comes home tired after participating in many of the activities organised by the staff. She is always happy and upbeat when she gets home.

Always welcome at Birdston.
The home is clean, bright and spacious, and day users are encouraged to mingle with the other users.
More day trips outside would be beneficial, especially for those who are wheelchair-bound.

Mum-in-law was at first apprehensive about going to daycare as she does not like trying new things but she quickly settled in. She now looks forward to her Saturdays at Birdston and phones me when she returns to tell me all about her day. She is always happy and stimulated when she returns. She looks
forward to her lunches and especially likes the entertainment - she loves music and to dance! She has made new friends and praises the staff constantly. A lovely day out for her!

My husband celebrated his 80th Birthday in May and what a joyous day your staff laid on for him.
The entertainment, dancing and all-round fun was top notch, I was especially surprised there were drinks on offer.
It was really nice to see dancing to the music and everyone enjoying this party.

An excellent service staff friendly and helpful.
Staff always contact us if there are concerns regarding Mum.
Mum loves to go and looks forward to going every week. She always returns home happy and stimulated.
The transport is well organised and great assistance.
All in all we are very pleased

Birdston Day Care has been an excellent service for my dad. Although Dad has dementia and is unable to tell us what he has done he is able to tell us he has had a great day.
The staff are excellent and provide support both emotionally and physically, they provide stimulating and fun activities that
vary each day with something to suit most people spending the day there.
We have had several lovely photos of Dad joining in which is so nice to see and we get feedback on how Dad's day has gone.
I would definitely recommend Birdston Day Care.

My husband seems to enjoy himself but as he is a man of few words the Carers inform me of what activities he has partaken in and how he enjoys his food. The entertainment has been good. For example, the music and Highland Dancing. He does not remember where he has been but is very content when he returns

My mum attends Birdston Day Care and has done it for a number of years. She absolutely loves her time here, meeting up with friends, playing games, listening to music and even getting her nails done. She loves the visitors that the staff bring in, singers, dancers and entertainers. The staff are all
friendly and welcoming and get to know their clients very well. The only gripe she ever has is that the food portions are a little small, but she likes her food. All in all it's been a very positive experience for her.

My mum recently started the daycare centre and she loves it, really looks forward to a Tuesday. They come and pick her up and also drop her home again, they have tea and toast in the morning and I must say she loves her lunch and the food does sound delicious. Mum likes meeting the other men and women
for a chat and they also have great activities during their time there, it's also great for dad too as it gives him a wee bit of a break for the day. All in all a great place, with great people, and the staff are fantastic well done Birdston daycare and thank you.

Both my parents attend Birdstone twice a week, the difference in my parents in a short time has been significant. They love going and look forward to all the activities and lunch. Both have improved in fitness level as well as social level. It has been amazing for myself as when they attend I no longer
worry or call 2-3 times that day from work to check they are alright. Getting picked up by the bus and dropped home by the bus makes them feel very independent. I could not recommend this service enough the staff are amazing and the care and companionship they provide is absolutely excellent thank you so much.

Janet

Janet Grant

Job Title: Day Care Manager Joined: 2014

Janet Grant is an experienced member of the care team. She has over twenty years experience beginning her career at Pacific Care as bank staff and soon after secured a full time position as a carer.


Over several years Janet's motivation and commitment to increase her knowledge and skills, whilst being supported by the company, successfully attained an SVQ 2 & 3, and most recently completing her SVQ4 and leader and management qualification.


Janet is also one of our dementia champions and feels that working in day care gives her a purpose, and is a very rewarding job. Janet often reflects how much of a pleasure it is looking after our service users in such a lovely environment, and knowing that she has given them her best to ensure they have a great day makes it so worthwhile.
