Holmfield Day Centre

My mum is now living alone and really enjoys being a daycare user at Holmfield in Leicester. This centre is extremely well set up and above all the staff are kind and really enjoy their job. In fact, when I have visited I would go as far as to say this is not a job for them. Dementia can strike anyone - and to be honest, can be a little frightening to those who watch the changes in their loved ones. This is where a specialised dementia care centre like Holmfield really serves two roles. My mum loves attending, making new friends, eating and all the activities. For me, as the only son, I know she is in a good place there and I am relieved. Too many of our elderly are left alone in their homes. God bless Holmfield staff and all users! Please don't close down.

Well, what can I say! Holmfield Day Care Centre is absolutely amazing! Mum goes once a week, sometimes twice a week and every time we pick her up she has really enjoyed herself and is very chatty! Mum has Alzheimer's and Holmfield is geared up to take care of her needs. The staff are fully trained and we never have any concerns about leaving Mum there. When I drop her off in the morning, she's quite happy to go in, especially when she gets told there's a cup of tea waiting for her! She is entertained all day with different activities and enjoys her meals there. I have recommended Holmfield to others and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.

My dad has attended Holmfield for 2 years, he has great care and it keeps him occupied and cared for safely whilst I work. He does lots of activities and gets a lovely hot meal every day. The carers are always singing and arranging activities for the residents.

My mother-in-law enjoys being a Day Care User at Holmfield, Leicester. The manager is excellent and all the staff are so kind and they even remembered it had been my mother-in-law’s birthday the same week that she attended. The activities are really engaging and I can’t speak highly enough of the manager and her team.

I am very pleased with the staff at Holmfield Day Centre. Always very friendly and helpful. They do a very good job despite the complicated needs of some of the people they look after especially my wife can be very difficult.

Holmfield Day Centre has recently been refurbished and is my nan's home from home. My nan has dementia and attends Holmfield Day Centre daily, there are lots of activities, and lovely meals, and the staff are amazing they could not do enough. I'm updated daily when I collect my nan. Nan's dementia has progressed however since attending the day centre she is more talkative due to having social stimulation, I cannot thank the day centre enough for the care and activities they provide.

My wife has dementia and is at Holmfield Day Centre two days a week. She is looked after really well and cared for by every member of staff that works there. Also, it gives me the breaks I need and also if I ever need to talk over my problems relating to my wife, the staff are always there for me as well. It's brilliant, and I would recommend the place and the staff to anyone in a similar position.

All the staff are excellent.

My husband has benefited from the lovely staff at Holmfield Day Centre. He is more active and social than before he went there. I also benefit as 24-hours a day for carer is very tiring. He still has bad days, but I'm better to deal with them.

Everybody is so friendly, I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Just to say they are brilliant at their jobs.

Regular formal and private meetings with the management enable relatives of service users to discuss any concerns that may arise and ethos of positive development is clearly evident and no occasion for celebration is ever missed.

Staff very friendly. Manager very hands on and helpful. My mother looks forward to attending and particularly likes the games played and singing.

I enjoy coming to the day centre, the staff treat me very well and I enjoy the company.

My mother and I have attended Holmfield Day Centre for more than 2 years now. My mother seems very happy and so am I with the care she receives from all staff at this centre and I have no concerns about her care. I think the staff do an amazing job.

What does concern me is the fact that in the summer time there is no air and also the inside and outside could with a bit of modernisation. I have spoken to management at George Hythe House before and their answer was to look into this (aircon and decoration for a tidy up).

I would be very grateful if you could come back to me on this concern I have as I feel that I have been ignored on this matter since February 2017.
