My experience is fairly good. Love it to be better but as it's not a private organisation can't expect it to be wonderful. My aunts room is quite dusty. I wipe the surface when I'm there as very dusty. Her carpet is hoovered but shoes are not moved so dust around the shoes. Bedding goes missing and
a Throw for her bed that was in a draw for several months went missing and not found. Her heating doesn't work well so she has to have mobile radiator's which is not good because it's down to her turning it off and on.
The staff and manager are really lovely

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your experience and we take your concerns seriously. The well-being of our residents is our top priority and we are committed to continuously improve the care we provide. Cleaner carries out cleaning daily as well as Staff doing basic cleaning as per infection control policy of the Home. We respect her personal space and understand she may prefer not to have her room cleaned at certain times, the Home has previously informed family and the Home manages to clean at the appropriate time she agrees. The resident has the tendency of removing things and sometimes refuse to take things that belongs to her, however the Home is monitoring and making sure all her belongings are kept secured at all times. The heating is on at all times but the resident feels cold which the Home provide mobile heating and it is monitored by Staffs. If there is specific concerns you have, we did happy to work with you to find solution that suits you.

The care home meets the needs of my family member. The staff are always friendly, and the care manager continues to be responsive to the specific needs of my family member, which were challenging when he first became a resident. Regular newsletters are distributed, and meetings are arranged periodically
to keep residents and relatives updated on general issues relating to the care home.

My father has been a resident at Sonia Lodge for almost 2 years and in that time he has received excellent care from all of the staff. He recently spent a few days in hospital and was not at all engaging or responsive to any attempted conversation during our visits. When he returned to Sonia Lodge he
was far happier, much more responsive, and glad to be "home".

My dad was cared for by the wonderful staff at Sonia Lodge from January 2023 until May 2024. The care he received from the whole team was second to none. His dignity, wishes and personal care needs were all managed with kindness and compassion. The staff were so kind and gentle with my dad and other
clients, and we are grateful he had such great care close to home. Thank you to all the staff at Sonia Lodge from myself and my mum.

My mother was cared for by Sonia Lodge from June 2023 until November 2023. All the staff were amazing. Kind and caring and nothing too much trouble. The care given to my mother was exemplary and I was able to feel happy that she was being well cared for. She was nursed there until the end of life, with
the utmost dignity. Phone calls and emails were promptly answered.

Mum has been a resident for around five months. I have noticed an improvement in her wellbeing since being at Sonia Lodge. She has responded positively to the care she is in receipt of. Regular nutrition and frequent hydration via regular drinks and biscuits have seen her physical condition improve
and she now walks with a frame rather than wait to be pushed in a wheelchair. Thank you for all you do.

Sonia Lodge

from Pam S (Brother of Resident) published on 28 November 2023
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5

We live in Devon so only able to visit my brother three times so far sadly, but staff always welcoming and he seems fairly settled and happy. He has dementia so responses are not always consistent as he is not fully aware of why he is there. We were recently gifted a device to enable him to contact
us face to face and the manager and her lovely staff have been very helpful in assisting him to call me weekly and he seems to be more relaxed and less confused with this routine than just a phone call. The staff are very accommodating when we have been able to visit and his friend, who live locally, often visits and takes him out for a few hours each time (as indeed we do when we visit and this is never a problem). Although he has dementia, my brother really needs to be with peers/people with similar interests and have a lot of stimulation to maintain his current level of cognisance, which is our only concern but not a negative reflection on Sonia Lodge in any way.

Since the new manager and staff have been in place, I have seen many positive improvements. For example, cleaner premises, visually more attractive, staff friendly and welcoming, staff care of residents 100% improved. The staff are better presented and provide a kind and professional approach that now
makes me happier about my mother's care.

My mother has been at Sonia Lodge for a considerable amount of time and has always been given good consistent care by all the staff members. The care home has recently been re-decorated in dementia-friendly colours, and a choice of activities is on hand. My mother is treated with care, compassion and
respect. There is a choice of foods available to residents, and meals are a good standard. Family visits are welcomed, and staff are on hand at all times.

My Cousin has been a resident in Foxley Lodge since January 2021. Sadly in that time, I have been unable to visit him due to COVID restrictions plus the fact that I live in Manchester and travel has been extremely challenging. I will say that my contact with Foxley Lodge has always been positive and
my conversations with my cousins have lead me to believe that he is being well cared for in a caring and safe environment. The marks given below reflect the fact that I have as yet been unable to visit personally.

My mother has been at Foxley Lodge for 7 months and we have been happy with the care provided. The staff seem caring and know her as an individual. They are always happy for us to talk directly to medical care providers and they have tried to make visiting as easy as possible within covid restrictions.
