I have been in Nightingale for more than 10 years. I know this was a good decision after living, working and retiring in New York City for 54 good years. I decided I could no longer live on my own and care for myself! Since coming into Nightingale Care Home I have gained the two stones I lost in NYC,
feel well cared for, met some interesting and kind people, enjoy an occasional game of bridge, read a book or two, enjoy our beautiful garden here, some good discussions and several more activities if one desires them. La vie est bonne and relaxing. At age 98 years old I give my deep gratitude for a full and happy life.

My husband was transferred to Nightingale after 4/52 in an emergency ward. He was able to walk with assistance until his hospital stay. Nightingale not only got him more mobile, but he seemed to be more alive than for a long time after a few weeks of rehab. He was amazingly well looked after there by
all the kind staff. He was happy and joined in the many activities. He died quickly and peacefully. They, the team, did him and me proud! Highly recommend!

Last week my brother in law and I attended a very special evening with my mother, a resident at Nightingale. It was a dinner commemorating Passover. The room was bright and welcoming with the advantage of many glass doors overlooking gardens. Books were provided for us to follow a service given by
the very experienced and joyful resident Rabbi and we all enjoyed very much. Following the service we had a beautiful dinner of either vegan or meat served by the very able and caring staff of Nightingale. There was plenty to drink also. Nothing was too much trouble. Nightingale, thank you for such a lovely evening. It was so very special to be able to enjoy this evening with our mother, a truly memorable occasion.

Our mother was beautifully cared for. Not just with great professional skill but with warmth and love. Nightingale is a special place- busy, life affirming, they do things properly but with great informality and humanity. Her end of life was managed with perfect care and dignity and support for the

On August 12th 2025, my sister Susan came to Hammerson from the hospital. Since her arrival, they have been wonderful to her. The care and love shown to her has been lovely; it feels as though she has been here for months, that's how welcoming they have been. The medical team, right through to the nurses
and carers, have been compassionate and understanding. I would like to thank the team for taking Susan under their wing and taking care of her.

Excellent experience on the whole.
1. I am disappointed by the food, but they no help for us. I am European and difficult.
2. Access to a doctor only on selected weekly dates. If so, only the first Monday of each week.

With regards to the food, we are committed to ensuring all our residents have the pleasure of sitting down to eat healthy, nutritious and delicious meals every day. We are also in the process of reviewing the catering provision at Hammerson House and we I feel sure you will begin to see changes very soon.Concerning our GP service, we are proud to have a GP present in Hammerson House 5 days per week, as well as an advanced clinical practitioner twice per week. The GP is normally allocated to a certain household each day for continuity but will offer consultations to Residents on other households when necessary and of course attend any emergencies. We will look into this however, to ensure that Residents are made aware when a GP is present in the building.

This is a magnificent building. My only criticism as a very experienced horticulturist with 50 years of experience, there is not enough gardening assistance employed. Vast areas of the grounds are neglected. There seems no one to who I can address my professional comments. I am 93 years old, I take
care of planting and maintaining the balcony and daily water the greenhouse.

I have spoken to our director of operations, who would love to update you with the following good news: "When the gardens at the new Hammerson House were first designed, some parts were deliberately 'cultivated' to be wilder and appear more unkempt to encourage a natural look, flora, fauna and wildlife. This was predominantly at the behest of residents and Relatives. However, we recognise now that given a number of years have passed since its inception, work is needed to return the gardens to a satisfactory state, and as such a significant amount of money has been allocated within the 2024/2025 budget to renovate and renew the overgrown areas of the rear garden." The care is very good, the setting is lovely but most of all, the staff are very well trained to see the best in residents and to understand their point of view. From the receptionist and all the care and nursing staff, they are all friendly and welcoming. It really makes a difference as I sometimes
feel quite nervous about visiting.
My mother chooses to have her breakfast brought to her in her room The staff have tried very hard to engage my mother in activities but they respect her choices.
I find the transport to the tube station very helpful. It is excellent that there is a team of physios on site and a good GP service.
My mother enjoys the garden which has very good non-slip paths enabling her to walk safely with her stroller. I like taking my mother to the cafe, it is a change of routine for her and the food is nice.

This is an amazing home that looks and feels more like a hotel than a care home. The staff are very kind, efficient and professional. There is a good amount of space for the residents to move around within their household, as well as downstairs in the Garden and the Cafe, and there are lots of activities
to keep everyone busy. There always seems to be something happening, which is wonderful. Communication and patience are very good between the house and families, and also within the household. The Carers are very busy, but are kind, thoughtful, and patient with each resident.
Downstairs where residents mingle with other households there are also lounges, an entertainment room, and a patio and gardens to share. A hairdresser/beautician comes twice a week and an activity programme which is stimulating and community-building completes the package.
It is a privilege to be a volunteer here, and I look forward to coming to help, I feel I can make a difference.
