Review of Nettlestead Care Home from Colin H (Brother of Resident) published on 3 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My brother has been at Nettlestead since Feb. 2026 and seems to have settled in very well. His mobility has improved since he has been there and I'm sure this is down to the staff as much as it is down to my brother. The staff seem very friendly and attentive.

My only issue is with trips out. They never seem to take place. On one occasion my brother was waiting near the front door to go on a trip he thought he was booked on and the trip just didn't happen. No explanation given.

Reply from Daphne Morgan, Assistant Manager at Nettlestead Care Home

It is wonderful to hear that your brother has settled in so well at Nettlestead Care Home since February 2026 and that the attentive staff have helped boost his overall mobility. However, it is completely understandable to feel frustrated about the lack of communication regarding scheduled trips,...

We got lucky the day we found Nettlestead for my husband who had poor mobility and dementia. Initially for respite, B soon settled in and was surrounded by loving care from day 1. I loved visiting him on a nearly daily basis; I always received such a warm welcome and I too became part of the Nettlestead family. The place is like a delightful hotel with a dining room that looks like it's stepped out of a country estate! B made some good friends and the last 6 months of his life were surrounded by sociability, love and kindness.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, and we are please to hear that your Husband's time here at Nettlestead was such a pleasure. For us B was a privilege and a joy, and we were very lucky to have got to spend the time with him, and your family that we did. We hope you will always continue to be a part of the Nettlestead family.

My aunt has been staying at Nettlestead since February 2026 and in this time we have found the staff at Nettlestead to be caring and helpful. We have always been made welcome when we visit and believe that my aunt is receiving the best care. She often refers to the activities and entertainment that she has enjoyed and also the 2 resident cats are a big hit for my cat loving aunt!

The home always appears clean and well managed and has beautiful gardens and the family, none of whom live locally, have peace of mind knowing that our relative is being well looked after and are most grateful for the care and attention given.

I have been extremely happy with my mum's care at Nettlestead. It provides a cosy home from home environment. Mum has been happy from the outset. The team are wonderful, they are kind, attentive and have a great sense of fun. All the staff treat Mum with respect. Any health issues are noted and dealt with immediately. The Managers are always available to give advice and answer any queries. I feel Mum is receiving the best care. Thank you to all the lovely staff at Nettlestead.

The staff no doubt look.after mum in a very caring way, she is well groomed, as happy as she can be without her beloved deceased husband. I.always get such a warm welcome from staff when I visit my.mum. I live on the isle of Wight so can't come that often. I think my mum thinks of the carers as her family as well, certain carers she is very fond of.

Nettlestead is the perfect carehome for mum. The whole team helped us all navigate what was a daunting task of finding the right care home. They are all so kind, nothing is too much trouble and in no time mum has settled. Lovely house and garden, food is fantastic lots of entertainment and stimulation combined with great care. Mum is cared for and now she is back being our mum again! Thanks to all the team.

We lost Mum in September after a four and a half year stay at Nettlestead. The care manager Lily and all the carers treated her with the upmost respect and like they would have done their own parents. Despite her sometimes challenging nature due to the dementia, they were still very patient with her and extremely kind and loving. The care home was very clean, friendly and homely for Mum and I felt very comfortable and welcome there when I visited which was always unannounced and at different times. It really is a lovely home for your loved ones and they were very kind, compassionate and caring when it came to Mum leaving us. I miss going in and chatting with Lily and the carers who I felt like were my friends in the end. I would not hesitate to recommend Nettlestead x

Review of Nettlestead Care Home from Julie S (Cousin of Resident) published on 16 January 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My cousin is having respite care at Nettlestead after fracturing his wrist. From the minute he arrived he was made to feel welcome. The staff are kind and attentive and make the residents feel loved and included.
Being a small home, only 20 residents , there is more of a family feel and I have found that the residents chat to and look out for each other.
The food is of a high standard and varied and there are always cups of tea and biscuits available for both residents and visitors.
Should you want some privacy there is a small lounge available and the garden looks lovely although we have not been out there at this time of the year.
There was some lovely Christmas entertainment from singers and choirs from local schools which the residents really enjoyed.

My cousin feels cherished and is seriously considering becoming a full time resident.

Review of Nettlestead Care Home from Vicki E (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 December 2025 Submitted via Website

I can only speak highly about Nettlestead. The staff are incredibly kind to both the residents and their wider family. First our mum, and then our dad, were resident at Nettlestead and both were in need of care and help at a difficult time. The staff enveloped our whole family with love and kindness.

Nettlestead is a small residential care home and so it feels more homely than some of the others we visited. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The lounge and dining area are bright and cheerful. Both mum and dad enjoyed the activities. Food is of a high standard, and the garden is really very pretty and accessible. But it's the care that really stands out. The staff genuinely care about both the physical health and emotional wellbeing of the residents.

Nettlestead has been fantastic for my Dad. He was struggling to cope in his own home and relying heavily on me to care for him in between his carers. From the initial assessment to getting him moved in, caring for him on the day to day, and dealing with the various healthcare providers, they've been amazing. I am so appreciative of their care and support and my Dad is very happy there.

As soon as you walk in to Nettlestead Care Home it feels like someone's house or home and not an institution. It is a lovely small and friendly home. The Management are extremely thoughtful and are there to look after the needs of the residents. My father has dementia and even though he cannot string a sentence together he is stimulated by having people around him who encourage him to interact with others and have a chat and a laugh. The carer's are always lovely and as it is only a small home they get to know all the residents very well. My father is very content in Nettlestead and if he is so am I. Thank you ladies

It has been a pleasure to get to know the care home, residents and staff. My sister-in-law has been there for nearly 3 months and we are happy with every aspect of her care. It was easy to choose the home having visited only once and it has proved the right choice. Beautiful building and facilities, very caring and helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble.

My Mother-in-Law has been in Nettlestead for 3 years. She is 99 and has Alzheimer's and mobility issues. When I visited in December just before Xmas, she was bright, happy and humming 'Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer' to herself. When I left at lunchtime, she was happily chatting away in the dining room to the other ladies at her table. And I always get feedback given by the staff on how she is doing without asking. It wasn't possible for her to be cared for in her own home and she is in good hands here.

Visited my stepmother yesterday.
Relaxed atmosphere. All the staff are so friendly and caring to all the residents and visitors.
Lunch looked and smelled delicious - fish or chilli.
The manager had time to go over a couple of points with me in private.

I'm always offered a drink and biscuits.

Both my parents are at Nettlestead and have been for well over a year. The care home feels so homely it doesn't feel like a home. I feel extremely lucky to have been able to get my Mum and Dad into the home and knowing that they are so well cared for has given me peace of mind. The care they receive is second to none, the staff are amazing many of who have worked there for well over ten years which I always think is a good sign, you don't need to care to be a carer but all the staff clearly demonstrate how much they do care, always respectful, compassionate, patient and kind towards all the residents. The food is homemade and delicious and if you happen to arrive at lunchtime you are always offered a dinner. The home is well managed, and the home care manager couldn't do more for you, she has the resident's care needs at the forefront of every decision she makes. I visit my parents a couple of times a week, all at different times of the day and I always receive the same warm welcome.

Mum has been at Nettlestead for nearly four years now and I cannot fault it at all.
The care and attention from everyone is outstanding. Excellent cleanliness always. The food is very good and everyone goes out of their way to ensure Mum is happy.

I’m satisfied with the service that the care home provides to my aunt who as her dementia gets worse, is proving more and more difficult to handle. She rarely makes any complaint about the service she receives which is a good thing.

The moment I stepped through the front door I knew that Nettlestead was the care home for my mum, it felt so homely.

My mum has only been in Nettlestead for a few months but I cannot fault the staff, so professional, caring and friendly. They can't do enough for my mum and have got to know her really well over such a short space of time to help her settle in. I know that my mum is well cared for 24 hours a day, which gives me peace of mind. The food is freshly prepared every day and the home is kept clean and tidy, with lots of activities for the residents.
