Care Homes Owned by Nightingale Retirement Care Ltd

I have been a resident there for almost 4 months, and although it was not my first choice, I have settled in well and found the staff mostly efficient and helpful. I had hoped to go to a specifically Christian home, but sadly the one I chose could not accommodate my mobility scooter. The main thing that I therefore miss at Nettlestead is therefore any form of spiritual input. (I have myself led short services at various retirement homes over the past 63 years). Also, although in a quiet, attractive location, Nettlestead has the drawback of not being purpose-built, and therefore has some problems, e.g. only one small lift, and lack of some handrails etc. The food is excellent, but a displayed menu would be an asset. The carers are all calm, friendly and helpful, the more mature ones showing more initiative. The entertainment activities could be more wide-ranging.

My dad has been at Nettlestead 3 months now, this is Dad's third home! I have to say the home is friendly, cosy. Carers have been good, although I believe more training on dementia care can be done, which has been addressed and is being sorted. The food is cooked fresh and tasty, which Dad enjoys. They want the home to feel like their home and encourage guests to help themselves to tea and coffee. Out of the 3 homes, this is the best one so far and are very pleased with it!!

We cannot thank the team at Priors Mead enough for the kindness, compassion and dignity they have shown our mother since she joined the home in February 2025. Mum has advanced dementia, and every member of staff took the time to get to know her as an individual, understanding her routines, personality and the little things that helped her feel settled. We always felt welcomed when visiting and involved in her care, and communication with the team was excellent throughout. Caring for a loved one with dementia is never easy, but knowing Mum was safe, happy and genuinely cared for gave our family enormous peace of mind. Thank you to everyone at Priors Mead for your professionalism, patience and unwavering kindness. We would wholeheartedly recommend Priors Mead to any family looking for high-quality dementia care.

My only issue is with trips out. They never seem to take place. On one occasion my brother was waiting near the front door to go on a trip he thought he was booked on and the trip just didn't happen. No explanation given.

We got lucky the day we found Nettlestead for my husband who had poor mobility and dementia. Initially for respite, B soon settled in and was surrounded by loving care from day 1. I loved visiting him on a nearly daily basis; I always received such a warm welcome and I too became part of the Nettlestead family. The place is like a delightful hotel with a dining room that looks like it's stepped out of a country estate! B made some good friends and the last 6 months of his life were surrounded by sociability, love and kindness.

The home always appears clean and well managed and has beautiful gardens and the family, none of whom live locally, have peace of mind knowing that our relative is being well looked after and are most grateful for the care and attention given.

I have been extremely happy with my mum's care at Nettlestead. It provides a cosy home from home environment. Mum has been happy from the outset. The team are wonderful, they are kind, attentive and have a great sense of fun. All the staff treat Mum with respect. Any health issues are noted and dealt with immediately. The Managers are always available to give advice and answer any queries. I feel Mum is receiving the best care. Thank you to all the lovely staff at Nettlestead.

The staff no doubt look.after mum in a very caring way, she is well groomed, as happy as she can be without her beloved deceased husband. I.always get such a warm welcome from staff when I visit my.mum. I live on the isle of Wight so can't come that often. I think my mum thinks of the carers as her family as well, certain carers she is very fond of.

Nettlestead is the perfect carehome for mum. The whole team helped us all navigate what was a daunting task of finding the right care home. They are all so kind, nothing is too much trouble and in no time mum has settled. Lovely house and garden, food is fantastic lots of entertainment and stimulation combined with great care. Mum is cared for and now she is back being our mum again! Thanks to all the team.

My Mother moved to Priors Mead over two years ago, she found it difficult to settle there as she felt she could manage at home but was clearly at risk. Because of the patience and support she was given she died happily settled at 105 years of age. The excellent care increased with her needs and we , the family consider it to be the best care home, second to none. We also received so much support as a family. We lost Mum in September after a four and a half year stay at Nettlestead. The care manager Lily and all the carers treated her with the upmost respect and like they would have done their own parents. Despite her sometimes challenging nature due to the dementia, they were still very patient with her and extremely kind and loving. The care home was very clean, friendly and homely for Mum and I felt very comfortable and welcome there when I visited which was always unannounced and at different times. It really is a lovely home for your loved ones and they were very kind, compassionate and caring when it came to Mum leaving us. I miss going in and chatting with Lily and the carers who I felt like were my friends in the end. I would not hesitate to recommend Nettlestead x

My cousin feels cherished and is seriously considering becoming a full time resident.

The staff are all absolutely fantastic and my Mum couldn't be any better looked after. There is always an activity the residents can partake in or always another resident or staff member they can just sit and talk to if they wish. Mum feels safe and cared for and that's our main wish for her. We are so very grateful to Claire and all her team there, they really do a fantastic job!

I can only speak highly about Nettlestead. The staff are incredibly kind to both the residents and their wider family. First our mum, and then our dad, were resident at Nettlestead and both were in need of care and help at a difficult time. The staff enveloped our whole family with love and kindness.

Nettlestead is a small residential care home and so it feels more homely than some of the others we visited. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The lounge and dining area are bright and cheerful. Both mum and dad enjoyed the activities. Food is of a high standard, and the garden is really very pretty and accessible. But it's the care that really stands out. The staff genuinely care about both the physical health and emotional wellbeing of the residents.

Have always found the staff to be very pleasant & helpful. Have never heard the staff be anything other than kind to the residents. I am happy that my stepfather is settled in this Care Home; it was a good choice.

Mum moved into Nettlestead in the summer and has been very happy and content. The process has been really smooth and we feel comfortable that she is receiving the best care from all of the staff. The food is great too.

Nettlestead has been fantastic for my Dad. He was struggling to cope in his own home and relying heavily on me to care for him in between his carers. From the initial assessment to getting him moved in, caring for him on the day to day, and dealing with the various healthcare providers, they've been amazing. I am so appreciative of their care and support and my Dad is very happy there.

As soon as you walk in to Nettlestead Care Home it feels like someone's house or home and not an institution. It is a lovely small and friendly home. The Management are extremely thoughtful and are there to look after the needs of the residents.My father has dementia and even though he cannot string a sentence together he is stimulated by having people around him who encourage him to interact with others and have a chat and a laugh. The carer's are always lovely and as it is only a small home they get to know all the residents very well. My father is very content in Nettlestead and if he is so am I. Thank you ladies

It has been a pleasure to get to know the care home, residents and staff. My sister-in-law has been there for nearly 3 months and we are happy with every aspect of her care. It was easy to choose the home having visited only once and it has proved the right choice. Beautiful building and facilities, very caring and helpful staff, nothing is too much trouble.

As a family, we are all exceptionally happy with the care that Mum is receiving at Priors Mead. We moved her here from another home that was not good for her, as it was too impersonal. At Priors Mead though, the staff all know her very well indeed, as it's a relatively small home, and this means that her care is the best it can be.
