The overall service is of an excellent standard. I believe my father is well cared for and the staff always have his best interests are considered.
The entertainment is really good and certainly enjoyed by my father.
My only negative comment would be around communication between staff and relatives,
which could be more consistent.
Reply from Mel Holly, Registered Manager at Admiral Jellicoe HouseThank you for your lovely feedback. We're delighted to hear your father feels well cared for and enjoys the entertainment. We appreciate your comment about communication and will work on ensuring this is more consistent for families.

From the moment our father moved into Admiral Jellicoe House on his 90th birthday in 2025 we knew we'd made the best decision for him. From the guided tour we had with Gemma prior to dad moving in to our ongoing contact and experience with the team on Ganges floor we cannot fault a thing. Dad is no
longer mobile so extra effort is required on the behalf of staff to ensure his needs are met. Medical intervention, when needed, is prompt and effective, his room is spotlessly clean (thank you Ken!) and the programme of activities is comprehensive and always enjoyed by dad. We are so pleased that he now's considers AJH his home.

Our father was a resident at JH from August 2025 until Dec 2025. Our father sadly passed away just before Christmas and we only wish he had become a resident sooner. As soon as we could see that dad was being looked after with care and respect our anxieties ebbed away. Our father had lewy body dementia
and as his daughters, the conflicting emotions you carry can be very overwhelming. We knew we had no choice but to put him in care, Jellicoe being our dad's choice as he was ex-navy. Though the visits were sometimes hard as dad could become agitated, the incredible carers would put our minds at ease. We could see first hand how well they looked after the residents on the Ganges floor. We always felt so humbled by the staff. The end of life care that dad received was exemplary. A very distressing time for us, but met with total respect and compassion. again, we were blown away by the staff who felt almost like family. We cannot recommend it enough.

A welcome and warmth when you arrive makes an impression then the members of staff on so many levels go the extra mile to support the residents and visitors alike. A missing sock an accident a query all dealt with sincerely .Leaving a love one is tough but the care and opportunities given to the residents
goes way beyond any expectations. I would definitely be a resident myself .
Well done and many thanks for the love and care x

The carers are amazing, friendly, made everyone welcome and help in any way. Building beautiful and clean, food good. Dad moved in July 2024 straight from home. May 2025 new manager who we had not met, OVER THE PHONE said they wanted my dad to leave as they could no longer meet his care needs. She said
that the staff were not trained in specialist dementia care which dad needed. We were told he had violent outbursts and fighting and kicking people, we had never been notified of any of these issues, by the manager old or new and sounded nothing like my dad. Only issue we'd been told was dad having several falls, none witnessed by staff- sent to hospital twice with no coat or shoes in Nov. We explained to the manager would be upsetting for him to move after 12mths as it was all he knew, her reply "he will be fine" Moved dad in July and he dies in August age 72 Not blaming AJ but my dad was so confused and didn't understand what happened. Sadly management let this home down massively.
Reply from Mel Holly, Home Manager at Admiral Jellicoe HouseWe extend our sincere condolences to you and your family for your loss and thank you for your kind words about Admiral Jellicoe House and our carers.
We are sorry your recent experience did not fully meet expectations. The new Manager and team provided ongoing support once it became clear your father's needs required specialist dementia care. During this time, we focused on his comfort and wellbeing and aimed to support you through a very difficult period, without any pressure to make decisions.
We recognise there were gaps in communication with your family and are committed to learning from this to strengthen how we share information and address concerns promptly.
Thank you for your feedback-it helps us improve our support for residents and their families.

My mum was a resident at Admiral Jellicoe House for nearly 2 years. I can honestly say that she couldn't have been in a better place. The facilities can't be faulted and there is plenty of space to wander both inside and in the garden. What makes Admiral Jellicoe House special though is the standard
of care given. The staff, without exception, are wonderful. They know the residents so very well and are genuinely caring and compassionate. They treat them all as if they are one of their own family and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The activities are carried out with lots of laughter and fun and mum was frequently taken out to play tennis, visits to the allotment and various other events. I would have no hesitation in recommending Admiral Jellicoe House to anyone.

My wife and I visited our relation at Admiral Jellicoe House last week. Having visited there and other relatives in other care settings we can honestly say that we were delighted to see the high-quality provision at Admiral Jellicoe House. The staff are very helpful and friendly and it was evident that
their caring role was much more than just a job. For elderly people the fact that the staff had a good command of spoken English is very important too. Very reassuring for us to know that although our relatives are hours away they are in an excellent facility and are very happy.

Admiral Jellicoe House has been a fantastic home for my mother since she arrived last April. She feels safe, well looked after and feels at ‘home’. The staff have been first class treating her with complete respect and dignity. Nothing has been too much trouble to deal with her needs. I cannot fault
the home. They have taken so much worry away from my mother and we are so grateful.

There came a time when we had to choose to find a home for my mother-in-law, this was not easy at all. From the moment we made contact with Admiral Jellicoe they have been nothing but brilliant.
It is beautiful and clean and all the staff we have met have been full of kindness and care.
The entertainment
lady takes time and never gives up asking anyone to join in.
Also, a member of staff who looks after my mother-in-law has taken time to get to know her and is truly invested in her as a person.
We cannot tell you how amazing Admiral Jellicoe House is!

I am always so impressed when I visit Admiral Jellicoe to see my grandmother. The environment is always so clean and tidy, it is a really welcoming place to live. It was a major transition for my grandmother to move into a care environment, but the team at Admiral Jellicoe have been amazing at making
the transition into her next chapter as smooth as possible. When it was her 90th birthday party the team really did make it special, the catering department made the most incredible cake and it felt such a special time!

I enjoyed three lovely days with my uncle. It was a short visit because I come from abroad. Each time, it was easy for me to book myself in for lunch and to have the use of a wheelchair for my uncle, so we had several outings together. The premises are spotlessly clean, and the staff were always friendly
and caring, as well as reactive to any requests. I am grateful to all the staff for looking after him so well.

It was a tough decision to put Dad into care. We found Admiral Jellicoe House and could not have been happier. Dad was resident number 4 (June 2022). He was so happy to be there with fellow ‘ganges’ boys and ex-Naval personnel.
Initially, there were some teething problems, but they now have an excellent
team who work hard to ensure that their residents and their families are well taken care of. The management are approachable, whatever your concerns and where able, they are addressed. There are various rooms for the residents to come together, tea room, garden room, cinema, bar and library together with the sunny garden (weather permitting) and of course the interactive boat.
The care team and nurses are responsive and caring and show genuine empathy towards both residents and family members, the domestic team work extremely hard to keep it exceptionally clean and tidy.
Sadly, Dad recently passed away, I cannot thank the staff at all levels for the care and compassion they showed to Dad and our family.

During my nursing career as an RGN for many years, I have worked in quite a few care homes.
My husband and I were very reluctant and apprehensive for our son to go into care due to our ages. Unfortunately, this became necessary.
He is a former Royal Marine who is seriously head injured.
Admiral Jellicoe
House was our first and only choice, and we were delighted when he was selected as one of the first residents last year.
This Royal Navy Benevolence Trust Home, in my professional opinion, is exceptional. The staff, from the home manager, the nurses, the carers and the ancillary staff, are excellent.
My husband and I are relieved and happy that our dear son is in your care. Most importantly, he is very content.
We are relaxed in the knowledge that everything is in good order.

My mother moved into Admiral Jellicoe House in August 2022 when there were only eight residents. Although it was a new build it was well layout and the decoration was good. The staff at the time were very happy with any enquiries. Since the home has filled up more the number of staff has increased and
all the staff I have dealt with have been approachable, polite and very useful. Also as Admiral Jellicoe House has employed its own staff it has been better for the residents because they get used to talking and dealing with the same staff. I have been very pleased with the quality of care that my mother has received. Keep up the good work.

My mother was one of the first residents to move into this brand-new home, from day one she was made very welcomed by the management and staff teams. She has been happy in this home, compared with the previous homes. The staff team are very supportive, my mother is now unable to walk, so is hoisted
daily, the staff team try to involve my mother in daily activities, when she is willing. If she does not want to leave her room, they try to bring the activity to her. The facilities are excellent, the food looks lovely, the environment is excellent. One year on, my mother is still happy with the home, the regular monthly relative meetings are very helpful, the monthly email newsletter, activity sheets and menus are great to receive as a relative.

The home is still in the process of settling in and is working extremely hard to obtain high standards. While there have been some teething problems, the management is receptive to feedback and quick to make improvements. The care team and nurses are responsive, caring and show genuine empathy towards
both the residents and family members. The facilities are amazing, and the domestic team work extremely hard to keep it exceptionally clean and tidy. Although there is room for improvement in communication and protocols, I am confident that with time, I will be able to give the home an excellent rating overall. I am very happy with the care my dad receives and look forward to seeing the small improvements required for me to give an excellent overall.
