My dad came for 2-week respite. He seems to have been happy and taken part in the activities. Should he need further time in a care home, I would be happy for him to return.

This was a last minute booking. Immediately upon walking in, I could see that this is a happy, homely place. All the staff I came in touch with were lovely. The food looked fabulous, which would make my dad happy. It is clean, comfortable and run by kind, caring staff. Will definitely use again. The
most important thing, of course, is that my dad was happy!

I cannot fault the care that mum receives here. The staff are kind and thoughtful, know the residents' likes and dislikes and all their individual needs. The activities are well thought out and relevant. The carers appear kind and sympathetic to the residents' needs. Very happy knowing mum is safe and
cared for.

We have just had a review meeting which was comprehensive and highlighted how woodlands care staff put the residents foremost in their thoughts. Our family are over the moon with mum's care and would recommend any one looking for a happy, caring home for their loved ones to consider Woodlands.

My mother has been a resident for 6 weeks now, and from the start she has been cared for really well. All of the staff have been so kind in helping her to settle in and involve her with activities that she really enjoys. She has made friends very quickly amongst the residents and the staff.

This is a lovely, homely, and well-maintained care home surrounded by beautiful gardens. The staff are so welcoming and the management of the home is excellent. My Mum has advanced dementia, but she seems content, is very well cared for, and enjoys her food! She clearly likes the staff, who work hard
to make her feel comfortable and included. I really appreciate the relatives' meetings to keep us informed, and an excellent training session run by the Activities Manager to better understand dementia. I love the way that Saxonwood encourages other groups from the Battle community to engage with the residents - such as a very enjoyable intergenerational art session with local playgroup, primary and secondary school children held recently. Communal areas have recently been redecorated to a high standard, and the layout of the bright, comfortable lounge thoughtfully redesigned to facilitate a range of activities, rest and conversation. I am very happy that Mum is living at Saxonwood.

My mother( who has been a resident in Saxonwood for almost thirteen years) recently celebrated her 100th birthday. I had originally booked a local restaurant for a gathering of family and friends, but the venue cancelled this a week later. As it transpired, this was highly fortuitous, because the team
at Saxonwood stepped in and accommodated us all.
The level of service and quality of food were beyond what we would have otherwise received and the care and attention lavished upon us all was incomparable.
Every member of staff, whatever their role, made everyone feel so welcome, for which I am eternally grateful.
Special thanks to chef and her brigade!

A lovely sunny and warm weekend in the lounge, visiting Saturday afternoon and Sunday Morning, he was quite relaxed and content. The afternoon visit was more laid back, chatting a little with the resident, then several of the others and one other visitor. Things picked up with tea and dinner, so I left
to go and cook mine. Sunday ... and he was deep in the observer... and a hot chocolate. The county life and history magazines were welcomed but more important matters no dust prevailed! It was time for lunch and he was hungry and so was I a little peckish, so away to cook my own lunch after a good visit.

Saxonwood had been referred to us by several people as a warm, happy place with excellent care. I have not been disappointed. Since my sister moved in she has been treated with the utmost respect. She has complex needs but always feels supported and included in all activities etc. My sister is happy

My Mother is a resident of Woodlands Care Home. I visit often with my wife. The care home is good in all care, activities, and safety/security and satisfactory in all other areas. It seems well managed and the staff are fine. I would like to see more care staff and perhaps more individual choices of
food.
Reply from Lizzie Gurr, Marketing and Communications Officer at Woodlands

Thank you for your review and feedback. It's great you visit regularly with our open visiting hours, and that you think our care, activities, safety and management is good. We have noted areas where you are not as satisfied and as a result our Chef Manager has met with your Mother to discuss choices of food to make sure she's happy - we know how important meal times are. We have also arranged to meet you to hear your feedback and further discuss your points. Thank you for taking the time to review us.

Saxonwood Care Home is a haven for my Mum. She is warm and well cared for by genuinely kind staff. The food is specially prepared for her and as she says she doesn't have to shop, cook, or wash up, she just has to eat!
She is a joy to visit because she is so glad of this place.

Mum had been at Woodlands since February 2020 and was well cared for despite being a little bit fussy. Nothing was too much trouble for the care staff. In September she became unwell and didn't want to go to hospital. She passed away at Woodlands under the care of the capable and lovely staff. Myself
and my sister were glad that her wishes were listened to and we were grateful for the care that she received. She left this world in a peaceful place. Thank you all.

The level of care, respect and integrity given to residents by all the extremely attentive and diligent members of staff is the level many other care homes should aspire to.
