My dear Mum has been a resident of Saxonwood for approx 5 years. I can honestly say my Mum has been well cared for and enjoys her late life and years in a safe, friendly and most caring home. The staff are extremely busy but do all they can to provide excellent care.
My life is peace of mind and I'm
able to travel and enjoy my 70's knowing Mum is happy.
My greatest respect to management and staff.
Reply from Lizzie Gurr, Marketing & Communications Officer at SaxonwoodThank you for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review of Saxonwood. We are delighted to hear your mum has enjoyed her years with us and feels safe, happy and well cared for. Your kind words about our staff and management are greatly appreciated - we work hard to create a warm, supportive environment for every resident, and your recognition means a lot to us.

It's especially reassuring to know that your Mum being in Saxonwood has given you peace of mind and the freedom to enjoy your own time, knowing she is in good hands. That is exactly what we strive for.

Thank you again for your support and trust over the past five years, and we will continue to do everything we can to provide the highest standard of care.

Woodlands have cared for both my parents for nearly 3 years now and we are very happy with the care they offer.
They go above and beyond to ensure the residents are happy and cared for on a daily basis and offer a orogramme of entertainment to keep them engaged.
The freshly cooked food always looks
great and Mum and Dad really enjoy it.
We are kept up to date regularly with their progress and any medical issues are dealt with promptly.
I would thoroughly recommend Woodlands.
Reply from Lizzie Gurr, Marketing & Communications Officer at WoodlandsThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We're delighted to hear that both your Mum and Dad have been happy at Woodlands over the past few years, and that you feel well supported as a family. Our team works hard to create a warm, caring environment where residents feel comfortable, engaged and valued, so it's wonderful to know this has come through in your experience.
We're especially pleased that your parents are enjoying the activities on offer and our freshly prepared meals, and that you feel well informed about their wellbeing and care.
Your recommendation really does mean a lot to us and to the whole Woodlands team. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.

Always happy, caring atmosphere. Mum always clean and as tidy as possible. Only negative point is the financial department at Head Office. Statements are never sent nor invoices. Caused huge problems when dealing with ESCC., and when they are sent, it is far too confusing. It has cost me over £1000
in accountants fees to sort. Hopefully after all this time we are straight!
Reply from Lizzie Gurr, Marketing & Communication Officer at WoodlandsThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear your kind words about the caring, happy atmosphere and the support your mum receives - that means a great deal to our team, who work hard to make sure residents are comfortable, well cared for and treated with dignity.

We're genuinely sorry to hear about the difficulties you've experienced with financial processes and your liaison with funded care from ESCC. We fully understand how stressful and frustrating this must have been, particularly when it resulted in additional costs for you.

We share a yearly statement and if payment is made by card, rather than direct debit, we send a monthly invoice. However with ESCC and third-party top ups the arrangements can be different.

Thank you for your patience in working through these issues, and we're glad to hear things are now feeling more settled. Your feedback has been noted and if you have any concerns or need further support, please get in touch.

Actually a comment on the five years that my stepfather has lived at Saxonwood, sadly dying one month short of his 95th birthday. In fact, looking at the first instance, it was March 16th five years ago it became home, and a wonderful, if not ideal, one, which he grew into, with friends and warmth,
among staff and fellow residents, and good food (mealtimes always his favourite time of day), a full day of activity. He adjusted to not being at home, and became alive in a way after being at home by himself for some years. I think we can only be enormously grateful to you all and to those who strongly endorsed the choice. Heartfelt thanks.
Reply from Lizzie Gurr, Marketing & Communications Officer at SaxonwoodThank you for your wonderful review and we enjoyed the five years where your stepfather was part of our Saxonwood family, along with your visits. We appreciate and understand whole heartedly that moving to a care home can be an anxious and stressful time for some people, and sometimes it's a decision that is hard to make. However, as we often find, when people move to Saxonwood they thrive - enjoying the delicious home cooked food, the variety of activities and social interactions with fellow residents and staff - a real boost to their mental health and wellbeing. Again, thank you for your kind comments and please do visit again in the future.

Good solid care from friendly staff. Group activities available if you want them, good range of food with regular specials. Homely feel to the place, you're not isolated and there is always some activity going on. Staff do a good job of fancy dress on the odd occasion! Edge-of-town location at the end
of a side-street means low traffic, easy access for emergency services. Good car park for visitors

Saxonwood is an excellent home with caring, committed staff. Meals are varied and nutritious and chefs are well aware of residents' likes and dislikes. The care my friend gets is second to none. This was a last minute booking. Immediately upon walking in, I could see that this is a happy, homely place. All the staff I came in touch with were lovely. The food looked fabulous, which would make my dad happy. It is clean, comfortable and run by kind, caring staff. Will definitely use again. The
most important thing, of course, is that my dad was happy!

This is a lovely, homely, and well-maintained care home surrounded by beautiful gardens. The staff are so welcoming and the management of the home is excellent. My Mum has advanced dementia, but she seems content, is very well cared for, and enjoys her food! She clearly likes the staff, who work hard
to make her feel comfortable and included. I really appreciate the relatives' meetings to keep us informed, and an excellent training session run by the Activities Manager to better understand dementia. I love the way that Saxonwood encourages other groups from the Battle community to engage with the residents - such as a very enjoyable intergenerational art session with local playgroup, primary and secondary school children held recently. Communal areas have recently been redecorated to a high standard, and the layout of the bright, comfortable lounge thoughtfully redesigned to facilitate a range of activities, rest and conversation. I am very happy that Mum is living at Saxonwood.
