Woodlands care home is one of the most homely and friendly around and they welcome people with open arms, like a big family. Their focus is on brighter living, so every day they bring a ray of sunshine to their residents. Their seven day a week sunny moments club, led by their dedicated activity co-ordinator, provides a variety of one to one and group activities, based on residents hobbies and interests - there's something for everyone.

Each resident has an allocated key worker and the staff team receive regular training to make sure they provide the best care and support 24 hours a day.

The home has a 5* food hygiene certificate and the in-house catering team create delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals, reflecting residents preferences.

Engaging and involving the residents is important and they constantly seek ideas, feedback and suggestions from the residents and their family to continuously improve their service.

Woodlands is a purpose-built home close to a forest with a wealth of wildlife seen from bedroom windows amongst the mature gardens.

The home has spacious modern en suite rooms to accommodate a homely community of 39 residents, all of which have garden views.

There is a large lounge area with fireplace, a private bar area and a bright and airy dining room, as well as plentiful day rooms, an activities room and hairdressing salon.

We are a not for profit organisation which means any surplus we make in income is invested back into our properties to improve the quality of life of our residents. Sussex Housing & Care has been supporting older people to live brighter lives since 1946.

My dad came for 2-week respite. He seems to have been happy and taken part in the activities. Should he need further time in a care home, I would be happy for him to return.

This was a last minute booking. Immediately upon walking in, I could see that this is a happy, homely place. All the staff I came in touch with were lovely. The food looked fabulous, which would make my dad happy. It is clean, comfortable and run by kind, caring staff. Will definitely use again. The
most important thing, of course, is that my dad was happy!

I cannot fault the care that mum receives here. The staff are kind and thoughtful, know the residents' likes and dislikes and all their individual needs. The activities are well thought out and relevant. The carers appear kind and sympathetic to the residents' needs. Very happy knowing mum is safe and

My Mother is a resident of Woodlands Care Home. I visit often with my wife. The care home is good in all care, activities, and safety/security and satisfactory in all other areas. It seems well managed and the staff are fine. I would like to see more care staff and perhaps more individual choices of
food.

Mum had been at Woodlands since February 2020 and was well cared for despite being a little bit fussy. Nothing was too much trouble for the care staff. In September she became unwell and didn't want to go to hospital. She passed away at Woodlands under the care of the capable and lovely staff. Myself
and my sister were glad that her wishes were listened to and we were grateful for the care that she received. She left this world in a peaceful place. Thank you all.

Communication between Woodlands staff and us is excellent, we receive regular updates and opportunities to discuss Mum's care. We recently attended the second relatives meeting where several of the staff team contributed to inform us of important aspects of the day-to-day running of the home- recruitment
of staff, catering, activities and events, maintenance etc. The team encouraged feedback from relatives and responded constructively to suggestions. In addition, we always feel able to speak to any member of the staff if we have a query about Mum and know we have been listened to. We appreciate that relatives can visit at any time and are included in many of the events and activities. Our experience is that Woodlands promote openness in communication with relatives.
