However, our experiences as relatives were not so sanguine. Firstly, the enquiries made into my aunt"s finances were little short of draconian and took a long time during which she paid at a higher rate. This was embarrassing and exasperating.
We thought it was all rather too "hands off" and we saw little evidence of real care. For example, my aunt waited a month for her pictures to be hung; in the end, we did it ourselves. When we visited no-one ever greeted us and the general atmosphere struck us as rather distant and unhelpful.
Unfortunately, unless things change dramatically, I would not recommend this home.
As for the location, Woodlands is nestled in a corpse of trees, far enough from the main road to enjoy the tranquillity. There is seating in the lawned area and a secure patio. One can relax on a sunny day watching the woodland wildlife. Care home costs are not cheap but Woodlands offers great value.
The room and bed are comfortable and I've enjoyed chatting with people here.
The location, access and the general surroundings are perfect for my mother-in-law.
The staff, who are mainly local residents, are very friendly and efficient and their caring attitude is very apparent and applies right

I started working in care in 2010 and worked my way from Care Assistant, through senior care roles, Deputy Manager to finally becomming the Care Home Manager.
I am passionate about my work. I enjoy the variety of work and meeting new people and supporting them at time when they need help and reassurance. I absolutely love bringing energy and creativity to every activity and watch how residents’ faces light up.
Residents are at the very centre of our Woodlands family. Everything I do is with their wellbeing and happiness in mind. Each member of our team is dedicated to giving the best care and making a positive difference to residents’ lives every day.
Woodlands has a very homely and friendly atmosphere, together we're one warm and friendly community.
"I joined in April 2024. My journey in the care field started in 2017, beginning with my BTEC in Nursing, which equipped me with a strong foundation for my career. Following comprehensive training in various hospital settings, including emergency, intensive care, and palliative care, I transitioned to roles in care homes. Starting as a support worker and progressing to assistant general manager back in Spain, I discovered genuine fulfilment in this environment.
Since relocating to the UK, I've served as a Senior Carer whilst qualifying as a Biomedical Scientist. What draws me most to working with older people is the profound sense of gratitude they express when receiving care and support. Witnessing their appreciation fuels my passion for this work every day.
In my role, I support the manager and team to make sure our residents receive the highest standard of care possible. I'm dedicated to providing compassionate support and assistance and fostering a sense of security and comfort for residents in our care."
I joined the Woodlands catering team in 2024 and I love seeing the joy of people eating my food and the benefits it brings to them.
It's great to see residents together in the dining room, socialising over my dishes and benefitting from a variety of homecooked dishes and a nutritious, well-balanced menu.
Hi, I'm Liz, I am the care home administrator at Woodlands and am often the first point of contact when you call or visit our home. I enjoy liaising with residents and their families and helping to make sure new residents settle in well. I often show people around the home, answering questions and making the transition to moving to Woodlands as smooth as possible. We look forward to hearing from you.
